Final Fantasy XIV Crosses 16 Million Players

Just ahead of Shadowbringers expansion release, MMORPG title Final Fantasy XIV crosses 16 million players mark.

Though massively multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV was heavily bashed over for a series of issues, developer/publisher Square Enix took time working on it and replaced it with FFXIV: A Realm Reborn in 2013.

Initially launched for PC and PlayStation 3, FFXIV eventually came to Mac and PlayStation 4 soon only to catch speed over time and has currently reached over 16 million players, just before the release of Shadowbringers expansion.

Over time, the game improvised over its issues and has accomplished a rare feat of rising from being pinned to the ground. A bold move from Square Enix to scrap down everything that didn't work and completely remaking it really paid off.

Afterwards, this critically-acclaimed MMORPG title picked up a good pace with players that led to the release of both Heavensward and Stormblood expansions, setting stage for a third DLC pack titled Shadowbringers to complement core story of FFXIV.

Upcoming third expansion would essentially feature loads of contents including dungeons and raids, increased level cap, new jobs, playable races and zones for the fan-favorite massively multiplayer online role-playing game.

Scheduled to arrive on July 2, Square Enix already showcased whatever change players can expect from it and an overwhelming surge in player-count has since pushed to a staggering 16 million in anticipation of Shadowbringers.

In terms of video game genres, MMORPG are one of the most complex types where turning back on your feet after messing up once big time is near impossible but FFXIV has made that possible with "A Realm Reborn" and continues to expand.

While eagerly waiting for upcoming third expanded chapter of Final Fantasy XIV, series fans can prepare themselves and warm up in advance by simply grabbing Heavensward for free until June 27 if they already own the base game.

Final Fantasy XIV Reveals Dancer Job and Hrothgar Race for Shadowbringers

Straight out of FFXIV Fan Festival a full trailer of Shadowbringers comes with announcement for new Dancer job and Hrothgar race.

We are still a few months away from upcoming Shadowbringers expansion pack to arrive on July 2, 2019 for widely popular MMORPG title Final Fantasy XIV but that does not really hurt developer/publisher Square Enix to drop some new details.

At recent FFXIV Fan Festival in Tokyo, game director and producer Naoki Yoshida launched the event for fans by revealing some new information regarding upcoming content and releases an updated version of the previously shown trailer.

Players already know that FFXIV will raise level cap from 70 to 80 along with inclusion of new dungeons and zones. There would be a NieR: Automata-themed alliance raid titled YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse as part of a collaboration between these titles.

In February 2019, Gunbreaker tank class job has been revealed with limited job Blue Mage to include months ahead of the expansion release. Surely, some exciting new features are also been confirmed to be come within as more icing on the cake.

New Job Dancer and more!

One of the primary highlight of the trailer was the newest addition of Dancer job that received a brief introduction and will be a ranged DPS job that brings changes to battle system. You can see a lot more in its solo featurette shown right above.

Aside from obvious skills in dancing, it will be using circular ring-like weapons for throwing in style while causing ranged damage. Its primary kit will probably be buffing same party allies just like Bard and quest to unlocking it begins at Limsa Lominsa.

Two new cities; Crystarium and Eulmore are to be added into upcoming FFXIV content for exploration. The former will serve as a hub on Crystal Tower and the latter is an urban metropolis for the ones with resources to live a luxurious life.

A high-end raid series consisting of 8-players titled Eden is heading to The First, a fictional alternate universe without night. A girl name Gaia wearing gothic attire and wielding a hammer is on the center storyline of this raid for all we know now.

New Playable Race "Hrothgar"

After teasing and announcing female exclusive Viera race of humanoid rabbits at Paris Fan Festival, Hrothgar will mark debut as a second playable race. These humanoid lion-like beings are excluded of any women among them, like a reverse of Viera people.

Though we have very little to almost no information regarding this buffed looking male-only race on our hand at this instant but they look quite amazing running around. Players who do not want to play as a woman can simply pick the role of a Hrothgar for a change.

TERA X PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Collaboration Event

World of TERA would see crates and goodies drop from sky for upcoming PUBG crossover event for a month.

Although multiplayer online role-playing game TERA and battle royale title PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds have almost nothing in common, the world of these two games are about to collide in an upcoming collaboration event soon.

By March 5, a 30-day long crossover event will be taking place that would drag PUBG-themed action into the lore of The Exiled Realm of Arborea and will continue to run until April 5 for major platforms like PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Players who have a level cap of 60 or more in TERA can straight up join the party and look up to the sky for supply crates to fall from. Also, Northern Arun will spawn level 70 PUBG Tuwangis guardians and soldiers each day for two hours during that period.

Participants can go seeking loots to collect or engage the guardians to get crates, keys and Battle Points, so that they can win over exclusive PUBG helmets in exchange. To get the daily rewards, all you need to do is to log in for at least an hour every day throughout the event.

TERA is a popular 2012 MMORPG title offering all the common features of the genre from developer KRAFTON and publisher En Masse Entertainment. This cross-franchise event would even award players for doing regular tasks like completing dungeons or fighting bosses.

PUBG on the other hand, came out at the end of 2017 from Bluehole Studio that has now going by the name PUBG Corporation and became a pioneer in online battle royale games. Currently, the shooter is playable for all available platforms, including mobile devices.

While this crossover of two opposing world is surely a surprise mix, there are a lot of aspects within that will surely left you confused. However, bringing the fantasy elements of TERA into the landscape of PUBG would definitely be more fun for sure.

Since TERA is basically a free-to-play game right now, you can simply jump into the fray to at least give the game a try at least. You can even try out PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds through a free version called PUBG Lite even if you don't own the main game.

EA Cancelled BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic Sequel

BioWare has repeatedly tried to revive Knights of the Old Republic series and failed to do so because of EA.

Based on the mythos of Star Wars fantasy universe, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was a joint effort of making a role-playing game by developer BioWare and publisher Lucas Arts back in 2003 that many fans cherishes till date.

This critically acclaimed title received a sequel next year from Obsidian Entertainment and multiple attempts from the original developer to bring a third game was unsuccessful because apparently, Electronic Arts will not allow that to happen anytime soon.

Of course, KOTOR didn't have high quality graphics like any of the modern day titles nor had exquisite multiplayer features, the RPG offered people to make plot decisions. Most importantly, it was free from the corporate greed that players know as micro-transactions.

The game took place 4,000 years before the formation of Galactic Empire where you, as a Jedi would venture through galaxy to defeat an assembled Sith army of Darth Malak while also choosing an alignment with light or dark side of the Force.

RELATED: Star Wars Battlefront II Controversy Hurts EA Stock Price

Both of these titles were not part of Star Wars canon anymore when Disney took over the franchise but later, Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels animated series made the lore relevant again by making reference of events taking place during KOTOR.

BioWare later released an MMORPG titled Star Wars: The Old Republic in 2011 to continue the series and fans have heard about a lot of rumor from 2017 of rebooting the series but all of them were eventually shot down with no hopes for revival.

RELATED: Reddit Bashed EA Over Battlefront II Loot Boxes

In response to a fan hoping for a reboot or sequel, renowned video game journalist Jason Schreier revealed the true scenario in a Tweet.

RELATED: Star Wars Battlefront II Micro-Transactions Outrage

Although EA has exclusive rights to publish Star Wars games after they made a deal with Disney, all they did for the last few years is cancelled more games than they released. In their latest venture, they managed to heavily enrage the fans with Star Wars Battlefront II loot box controversy.

When they recently cancelled an open-world game code-named "Ragtag" being developed under Visceral Games, Rogue One co-writer Gary Whitta simply states that Disney should pull the plug on their Star Wars license deal with EA and be done with it.

RELATED: Rogue One Writer Wants Disney to Replace EA for Star Wars Games

According to Schreier, EA has shot down multiple attempts from the developers of Knights of the Old Republic to revive the series aside from canning several other Star Wars projects from some of their acquired studios to rush other games.

With their current development philosophy and games-as-service approach, EA is burning cash and shoving beloved game franchises to drain for no good reason. Seeing their recent behavior, we have good reasons to believe that they have been corrupted by the Dark Side.
