RAGE 2 Officially Announced

It was only last week, when a Walmart’s listing leak lead to the news that sequel to 2011's first-person shooter from id Software and Bethesda Softworks is actually happening. Instead of shooting down the idea, they playfully trolled back at Walmart Canada by offering notes to improve design efforts on their placeholder listings. Then they started posting teaser image that clearly said RAGE 2 is coming until the reveal trailer got leaked as well just before the official release and now we are here.

The live-action cinematic trailer showcases a newly revamped world of RAGE 2 without hinting any clue about the game's plot.

The trailer looks like a hybrid clone made out of Mad Max: Fury Road movie and Borderlands game. Of course it officially confirms that we sure are getting a sequel to RAGE but at this point there was very little to not know about that. At first thanks to that Walmart listing, then Bethesda decides to be a sport by teasing for a few days on social media and then the leaked clip has done it all. Still, the official clip is a bit longer than the one which was leaked earlier but later taken down from YouTube.

If not all but many fans who waited for official confirmation for this project may have expected what they just saw, because a couple of punk-ass dancing and jumping around with big-guns amidst a confusing, pink atmosphere doesn't remind them of anything from the first game of the series. Since RAGE was developed to showcase their new game engine, perhaps the developer and publisher agreed upon going for a soft-reboot approach with this one like they did with Doom, Prey and Wolfenstein II.

If they are truly aiming for a revamp as the changes suggest, it may even turn out to be successful considering their previous track record. E3 2018 is due for next month and we already halfway through May, 2018, so by then we can definitely wait for a full-length trailer to delve deeper into the game's plot maybe! In the trailer's closing card, they mentioned that a gameplay reveal will take place tomorrow, May 15.
