The Witcher 3 for Nintendo Switch Leaked

Port for acclaimed action RPG game The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch may have been leaked via an online listing.

Based on fantasy novels of Andrzej Sapkowski, developer/publisher CD Projekt has established action role-playing game series The Witcher and its grown popularity has even led to a live-action TV series on streaming giant Netflix.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was the third installment of its trilogy and probably most critically acclaimed among the franchise. According to a recent leak from ResetEra, this open world RPG is about to arrive on Nintendo Switch anytime soon.

Apparently, multiple listings of the game on Asian online marketplaces were freshly spotted with a visible Switch logo on Taobao.com, a shopping site under Alibaba, image of which was later posted on ResetEra forum.

Translation from source reveals that sellers are listing The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition for a possible Switch port. There are also heavy chances of it turning out to be a streamable version and probability of it being exclusive to Japan.

In general, such leaks are advised to be taken with a grain of salt but since more than one outlet has listed it as an upcoming Switch game on their site, it may no longer be a mere gossip and might get an announcement at E3 2019.

Even though Polish video game studio CD Projekt Red is currently busy working on their upcoming anticipated RPG title Cyberpunk 2077, a surprise announcement during their E3 appearance could also be a part of the show.

Lately, Switch has surpassed total sales of PlayStation 4 in Japan and plans to sell another 18 million units until next year, which clearly demands for new titles including ports of exiting third-party games from PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Although this next-gen handheld console has already run games such as Doom, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, running port of a high-caliber game like The Witcher 3 on Switch would be quite a feat.

Fans and players are worried for such a technically demanding game that usually requires one to have a high-spec PC to properly run it would only led to a massive graphical downgrade when ported to Nintendo handheld system.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt debuting on Nintendo Switch would give it a great exposure to a completely new demographic and having to play it on the go only makes it more appealing for Switch owners, which can be a great selling point.
