The Witcher 3 is Coming to Nintendo Switch

At Nintendo Direct E3 2019 event, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition for Switch has been confirmed.

Two weeks ago, a leak from ResetEra has revealed that acclaimed action role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from developer/publisher CD Projekt Red is coming to Nintendo Switch, which has now been confirmed officially.

Announced during Nintendo Direct presentation at E3 2019, this ambitious port is titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition and headed for next-generation Nintendo handheld console to arrive later at some point this year.

Switch seemed to be able to run ports of graphically superior games like Doom and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus in past but it has struggled with open-world games like Saints Row: The Third, which turns out to be a disappointment.

CD Projekt Red is currently busy with their upcoming release Cyberpunk 2077 and even though it has not been announced for Switch, the success of Witcher 3 may lead CDPR to consider a port of CP2077 as well if that is even remotely possible.

Although there was no mention of an official release date, the game may launch on December 31, 2019 according to Amazon. Marketing material released so far have also suggests that the title will available on a 32 GB game card.

Currently priced $59.99 for online and retail selling, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition is already up for pre-order. It comes with two of its follow-up expansion packs; Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine to make it worth purchasing.

The Witcher 3 for Nintendo Switch Leaked

Port for acclaimed action RPG game The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch may have been leaked via an online listing.

Based on fantasy novels of Andrzej Sapkowski, developer/publisher CD Projekt has established action role-playing game series The Witcher and its grown popularity has even led to a live-action TV series on streaming giant Netflix.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was the third installment of its trilogy and probably most critically acclaimed among the franchise. According to a recent leak from ResetEra, this open world RPG is about to arrive on Nintendo Switch anytime soon.

Apparently, multiple listings of the game on Asian online marketplaces were freshly spotted with a visible Switch logo on Taobao.com, a shopping site under Alibaba, image of which was later posted on ResetEra forum.

Translation from source reveals that sellers are listing The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition for a possible Switch port. There are also heavy chances of it turning out to be a streamable version and probability of it being exclusive to Japan.

In general, such leaks are advised to be taken with a grain of salt but since more than one outlet has listed it as an upcoming Switch game on their site, it may no longer be a mere gossip and might get an announcement at E3 2019.

Even though Polish video game studio CD Projekt Red is currently busy working on their upcoming anticipated RPG title Cyberpunk 2077, a surprise announcement during their E3 appearance could also be a part of the show.

Lately, Switch has surpassed total sales of PlayStation 4 in Japan and plans to sell another 18 million units until next year, which clearly demands for new titles including ports of exiting third-party games from PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Although this next-gen handheld console has already run games such as Doom, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, running port of a high-caliber game like The Witcher 3 on Switch would be quite a feat.

Fans and players are worried for such a technically demanding game that usually requires one to have a high-spec PC to properly run it would only led to a massive graphical downgrade when ported to Nintendo handheld system.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt debuting on Nintendo Switch would give it a great exposure to a completely new demographic and having to play it on the go only makes it more appealing for Switch owners, which can be a great selling point.

Based on the original work of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher has become a successful media franchise and is being proceeded to be adapted into a TV Series for Netflix starring British actor Henry Cavill (Justice League, Man of Steel).

After casting him, showrunner of upcoming Netflix’s The Witcher, Lauren Hissrich leaves social media when unconfirmed news of her casting a non-white actress for Ciri created major backlash from Witcher fans and now she has returned to reveal casting for some of series’ most important roles.

According to her interview with Hollywood Reporter, actress Freya Allan (Into the Badlands, The War of the Worlds) and Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust) will join the show alongside Cavill as female leads Ciri and Yennefer respectively.

In contrast to the central character Geralt of Rivia, Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon is known as Ciri, princess of Cintra and his adoptive daughter. On the other hand, Yennefer is a sorceress and a love interest to Geralt, also came to be a mother figure to Ciri.

Lauren S. Hissrich, who has previous history of working on Marvel's Netflix TV universe, is serving as showrunner and an executive producer for the upcoming fantasy series alongside Alik Sakharov (Game of Thrones, House of Cards).

After Polish video game developer company CD Projekt Red launched The Witcher as an action role-playing game back in 2007, it gained insane popularity and become the primary standard of visual representation of the entire lore worldwide.

Though she is a fan of the games but for the interpretation of the show, she does not want to rely heavily on the best-selling video game franchise and states the following.

We needed to create our own visual representation. As I’ve been developing the series I’ve actually pulled back from playing the video games because I wanted to make sure the show we were creating was its own unique thing.

Although no dates for Netflix’s The Witcher premiere has been currently confirmed by official sources yet, the production will start very soon for the eight episodes long run. Hissrich is aiming for a depiction sophisticated from the games because the author of The Witcher did not always specify the diversity of people in the books.

When she ditched Twitter last month due to the controversy over a casting call for Ciri, they hired a casting director for the show, who has already cast 50 people total and Freya Allan was picked from over 200 young women of Europe.

The Witcher Author Demands More Royalties

Andrzej Sapkowski, author of The Witcher novel series demands more than $16 million in royalties from developer CD Projekt Red.

Before the first action role-playing game from The Witcher series was released back in 2007 by developer/publisher CD Projekt Red, probably many haven't ever heard of the novels the franchise was based upon or who monster hunter Geralt of Rivia was.

Now that it has become a worldwide sensation followed by two sequels; The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a demand for over $16 million in royalties is made by its creator and Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Back in 2014, CD Projekt Red stated in an interview that these stories created by Sapkowski were only popular in Poland and there wouldn't be anything today without The Witcher game. Instead of buying rights from author, they simply bought a story that turned heads.

A letter publicly issued by the author claims that the Polish developer studio has paid a sum too low compared to the benefits they have made using his work. It also claims that the agreement between them was for the first installment of the series.

RELATED: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Xbox One X

In an interview to Eurogamer last year, Sapkowski expressed his regrets over agreeing to a fixed sum, which he very much regrets now.

They offered me a percentage of their profits. I said, 'No, there will be no profit at all - give me all my money right now! The whole amount. It was stupid. I was stupid enough to leave everything in their hands because I didn't believe in their success. But who could foresee their success? I couldn't.

The author never even believed that his work would ever make any money and agreed to a one-time payment. Through the letter, he requests for only six percent of the profits the franchise has made till date to be paid in royalties.

Considering the massive success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt alone Sapkowski is owed at least $16.11 million, according to the claims of the letter. So, he is expecting percentage for all three games and their expansions and the amount will be even bigger then.

For everyone to take a look at the letter, we have embedded the English language version of the formal demand below.

Despite whatever agreement was made between two parties, Sapkowski can feel a bit ripped off considering the popularity of the series has lead to an upcoming TV show on Netflix that will feature British actor Henry Cavill (Justice League, Man of Steel) in lead role.

CD Projekt Red is also working on a spin-off role-playing game Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, which has players all hyped up as it is coming on 23 October, 2018 for PC and then on 4 December for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

Henry Cavill to Star in Netflix's The Witcher

Netflix casts actor Henry Cavill to play the lead role in their upcoming original TV series adaptation of The Witcher.

British actor Henry Cavill (Justice League, Man of Steel) has been playing the comic-book character of Superman for DC Extended Universe for some time and has garnered praise for his recent role in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Apparently, the actor has been cast in lead role by popular online streaming-service Netflix for their anticipated upcoming television adaptation project of The Witcher action role-playing video game series from Polish game developer company CD Projekt Red.

The idea for a television adaptation of The Witcher was first pitched back in May 2017 and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich who has worked in Marvel's Netflix TV universe joined as showrunner. They were looking for a cast to play the lead character and the actor expressed his interest in playing the role in a recent interview. Today Cavill is officially finalized to play monster-hunter Geralt of Rivia and this one is undoubtedly going to become one of the best Netflix originals worth watching.

Lately, Netflix has become an online streaming mogul and the original TV shows they have been producing are immensely trendy among a global audience. Their original productions like Dark, House of Cards, Narcos, Orange is the New Black, Peaky Blinders and Stranger Things have amassed huge success from different genres. Then there are shows like Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s The Defenders, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Luke Cage and Marvel’s The Punisher with crazy fan-following.

Henry Cavill would be returning to small screen after a long break from his last work on Showtime's The Tudors in 2007-2010. Hopefully, his role in The Witcher will not affect any of his upcoming movies from DC Extended Universe because of his appearance. We obviously don't expect of having any scheduling conflict either because regular shows on Netflix only takes eight episodes per season compared to other network drama of an average of 22 episodes.

Henry Cavill has revealed that he would love to star in Netflix's upcoming The Witcher television series.

The Witcher video game franchise was built upon the novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, by Polish developer studio CD Projekt Red, which led to three successful installments and received critical acclaim. Back in May 2017, online streaming-service Netflix decided to explore their very distinct take on the lore of the game before producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's The Defenders) was finally announced as series show-runner in December 2017.

Cavill also took interest in reading Sapkowski's novels and recommended them worth reading as they are really good. Previously, he revealed on Conan that he originally missed the call from director Zack Snyder to be cast as Superman in the first place, because he was too busy playing World of Warcraft at that time. Although we know very less about the status of this Netflix series development, the script for pilot has been completed according to some recent report but no news on casting yet.

The Witcher 3 PlayStation 4 Pro Update Facing Issues

CD Projekt Red finally brings HDR support for The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 4 but visual bug still remains.

It's been three years action role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from developer CD Projekt Red came out on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Yet, people cannot seem to get enough of it and so, constant updates are being released every now and then. The most recent released patch is for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro, which was about to fix issues from the one released back in April. However, players started immediately complaining about having some visual problems.

This update was introduced with HDR color support for Sony consoles but creating issues when people tried to run the game in 4K. Patch 1.60/1.61 was dropped to support all PS4 consoles as they promised in December while adding 60 fps support Xbox One X. That was it for back then and Xbox One S had to wait till March to have updated with superior visuals. Aside from graphical improvement, the patch was supposed to do some performance optimizations and stability improvements.

RELATED: Witcher 3 Mod Geralt of Rivia's Pro

According to developer patch notes; there were also a few localization bug-fixing and slight visual enhancements. However, players were mostly concerned with object popping up in between places and less detail in distance. Suddenly that has become a major issue with everyone who tried out this update. Some objects are getting disappeared and then some of them appearing out of nowhere. This are not just some claims, there are videos on YouTube to back it up.

If you look closely, Geralt of Rivia runs through the field, grasses starts showing detailed texture as he nears them but they remain on a reduced level of detail when seen from the far. The most noticeable immersion breaking comes after 0:52 time frame of the clip above. Of course the tree didn't just popped out but it only detailed out as whole only when he approaches nearby it and not before. After seven months of waiting, this really made a lot of fan upset on so many levels.

Players who have faced this have mentioned that up until patch 1.60, this problem didn't exist. Supersampling for PS4 Pro also is removed for those playing it on a 1080p TV and need to enable settings once again. Issue of items popping up only comes when the game is played in 4K Mode, while 1080p mode remain fine for now. The update came out on a perfect time as The Witcher 3 will be celebrating its three-year anniversary on May 19, if it was not for these current inconveniences.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Xbox One X

With many popular games are getting support for Xbox One X, it's about time that CD Projekt Red's action role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gets some of that action too and they did just that. The developers of the title have recently released an update for Xbox One X which not only gave it 4K support but also have improved performance for the players. Xbox One X version of The Witcher 3 has HDR support in it which the PC version doesn't.

Sizing approximately 550 MB, the update for Xbox One X released now is version 1.60 of the game. The display settings of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt now adds two new visual options for the players to choose from. There is a 4K Mode and a Performance Mode. People can either play the game with 60 frames per second or just in a constant 4K resolution if they will. Despite any mentions from the developers in the patch notes, the HDR support aspect will apply for Xbox One S consoles as well.

According to CD Projekt Red, if you are to choose the 4K Mode, you can experience the high definition of 4K resolution at a regular 30 FPS. If excellent visual is your top priority then you can certainly go with this one and the consistency of the frame rates remains even in the middle of an ongoing battle. The Performance Mode however lets you play at 60 FPS and the resolution will be scaled down to somewhere between 1080p to 4K, so that you can have that frame rate at all times.

These two visual options are just the key-features of the v1.60 patch update and there is more to add. The texture of the surrounding environment of the game and the shadows will look much more realistic and better in quality. Since combat is an inseparable part of any action game out there, we prefer the Performance Mode over 4K Mode which is stuck on a constant 30 FPS.

Witcher 3 Mod Geralt of Rivia's Pro Out Now

If you've always imagined bumping into Novigrad at light-speed, well, now you can certainly do it. Geralt of Rivia Pro mod for CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3 turns your beloved Geralt of Rivia right into a skateboarding champion! Now that might sound unbelievable but it's true! The mod-maker “Eutirion” has recently come up with a mod that lets the protagonist of the overall game to spin just like Geralt was aboard on a skateboard.

Geralt of Rivia's Pro Witcher 3

Can you remember YouTube video of Geralt in Blood and Wine, where he was moving around the beach with his very own skateboard? Have you ever dreamed of recreating that? You have that chance now. With a mod, you are able to go all over the world of The Witcher 3 just as though Geralt was utilizing the skateboard like a pro.

The mod titled Geralt of Rivia Pro The Witcher 3 allows Geralt to literally side on the highway like utilizing a skateboard. Sometime the mod can come in very handy, like, when you have to make Geralt climb mountains and then cut off the road. It also has several other options, including that of speeding up Geralt when he is swimming and all that.

If all these seem like a hoax then check out the clip below yourself as Geralt skateboarding his way into the world of Witcher 3.

The mod maker, Eutirion has created this mod mostly to help those people who cannot take a quick trip at the start of the game. In this case, it is really helpful for gamers. However, Geralt almost cannot see most of the other in-game characters as he travels too fast but if you're feeling lazy and don't care to admire the beautiful game environment around you, then this mod is surely for you.

The author Eutirion admits, that the mod still needs plenty of corrections to go through, especially to keep pace with the speed of Geralt, which is quite a bit excessive at this moment and needs to slow down a bit. If you're thinking about giving it a try, you can go and download Geralt of Rivia Pro The Witcher 3 mod from NexusMod now.

The Witcher Is Coming to Netflix

Ever since online streaming-service Netflix has ventured into television production and started working with big leagues like Marvel Studios, they gave the fans popular shows like Daredevil, Defenders, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Beside those, Netflix have also produced a couple of other hit originals like House of Cards, Narcos and Orange is the New Black.

A while ago, they have announced debuting Castlevania series as one of their upcoming projects. Looks like fan-favorite action role-playing video game The Witcher is next on their list.

The Witcher Is Coming to Netflix

Yes, this is no rumor that Netflix has really begun developing a television series based on The Witcher. Since, Netflix is quite a big-deal on entertainment media these days, it is only natural that this massively popular video game adaptation should be on their fold. The series will be mostly based on the fictional books of Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, rather than the works of developer studio CD Projekt Red.

So, fans who thought they are going to have a live-action Witcher series based on the game have to hold their horses. However, it is still not set in stone that any of the material from the game will be there or not but Sapkowski's work will be used as the primary source material for the show, that includes his eight novels and a collection of The Witcher Saga short-stories.

Sean Daniel (The Mummy) and Jason Brown (The Expanse); executive producers of the show suggested that the show will be an original take on the game and actually set focus on more than the surrounding materials of the story and not only on the primary characters, who are a group of hunters known as “Witchers”.
