There was already some rumor about developer/publisher Ubisoft planning to release Far Cry 6 in 2021, which has recently been leaked accidentally at Hong Kong PlayStation Store with a set release date, plot premise and more details.

Now that E3 2020 is cancelled due to worldwide pandemic of COVID-19, more studio-centric digital events will feature upcoming anticipated titles and Ubisoft will showcase Far Cry 6 alongside other first-party games at UbiForward.

By now, leaks have confirmed that Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito (Dear White People, The Mandalorian) will be starring as primary antagonist named Anton Castillo for latest Far Cry game, who is a dictator of a tropical paradise.

Instead of freaking out, Ubisoft has reacted calmly by releasing a short clip of FC6 villain Anton Castillo.

Earlier this month, Giancarlo teased in an interview saying he has worked on a role for a major video game. He doesn't do much other than lighting a cigar in his brief presence above but his appearance is more than enough to create hype.

Giancarlo Esposito had been around for long and become widely known for his role of drug kingpin Gus Fring in AMC crime drama series and his past performance assures that he will be the next legendary bad guy of Far Cry franchise.

Also to point out that during an AMA session on Reddit back in April, Canadian actor Michael Mando (Better Call Saul, Spider-Man: Homecoming) has hinted at reprising his iconic role of Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3 very soon.

Despite having a tradition of all Far Cry game characters and story premise being separate from each another, FC6 may turn out to be a prequel to FC3 after all and there is a major possibility of Vaas eventually returning back to series.

Keen-eyes on Twitter have also picked some hints for Vaas already being featured in leaked cover image.

In leaked Far Cry 6 key-art found in PlayStation Store lately, Anton is shown standing over his son, Diego. There is a small scar on the young boy's eyebrow that is slightly above his forehead and it nicely lines up with the one Vaas had.

Given early tease from these actors and details found through leaks, Far Cry 6 will surely be an interesting game. Ubisoft has probably found a way to interconnect events of Rook Islands to Yara of FC6 and is now ready to unveil that soon.

Although leaks are obviously disappointing for any company, they played an integral role in creating hype for UbiForward event to show off games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Watch Dogs: Legion as well.

Far Cry 6 is reportedly arriving February 18, 2021 for current-gen consoles with free upgrades for next-gen. Instead of Steam storefront, Windows PC version will most likely be available on Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store at launch.
