Last week, EGS has given up two free games priced $7.99 only, simply because one of the titles, This War of Mine was M-Rated and was most likely to deprive younger players from accessing it if Parental Controls feature was there.

MechWarrior 5 Delayed to December, Will Be Epic Games Store Exclusive

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is now delayed to December and is becoming an exclusive to Epic Games Store.

Returning back to MechWarrior franchise of giant robot fighting games after nearly two decades, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries was scheduled to launch on September 10, 2019 but now that date has been pushed back to December.

In a recent official announcement, developer Piranha Games have revealed that MW5 has now been delayed for exactly three months back and coming out for PC platforms on December 10, 2019 as an Epic Games Store-exclusive.

Piranha Games were sure to thank publisher Epic Games to come forward helping them reach their internal goals in official blog post. Those interested taking part in Closed Beta program should place pre-order now to get access in November.

Since community of PC gamers usually gets annoyed when an upcoming title becomes exclusive to Epic Store and developers have already anticipated that there may be some refund requests coming their way following the exclusivity news.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunsmith System Teased

So, anyone seeking to get refunds for pre-ordering MechWarrior 5 can claim their money before September 1. However, customers withdrawing pre-orders won't be able to join in upcoming Closed Beta and won't receive any exclusive DLC items.

Also, they are offering a full refund for any tier of pre-order anyone have placed and will yet allow people to keep all bonus content of MechWarrior Online including badges, items and XP regarding whatever editions they have chose.

RELATED: Jedi: Fallen Order is Very Similar to Sekiro

It is very much possible that Epic Games have suggested developers that customers are offered a voluntary refund before they start creating an issue, given their past experience of snagging store exclusivity of Phoenix Point and Shenmue III.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries adapts gameplay aspects of MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries in terms of giving players choice to run their own campaign. Additionally, pilots are allowed to build and guide their own units alone or with AI controlled pilots.

Moonlighter and This War of Mine Free on Epic Games Store Now

Epic Games Store is giving away two indie PC games, Moonlighter and This War of Mine for free this week.

For very first time, Epic Store will be giving out two indie titles for free today and anyone interested in bagging them can simply add these games to their collection with a free account anytime before August 2, 7:59 AM PT/10:59 AM EDT.

Players can pick up PC version of action role-playing title Moonlighter and war survival game This War of Mine on EGS, both hailing from indie developer and publisher 11 bit studios yet appeals to different range of audiences for their themes.

Next week, Epic Games Store intend to give two new titles, psychological thriller title Alan Wake from Remedy Entertainment and medieval action fighting game For Honor from Ubisoft for their free game promotions on August 2, 2019.

Cyberpunk 2077 Won't Let You Attack Children or Story NPC

Although you can fight almost anyone in Night City, Cyberpunk 2077 will not let you hurt kids or NPCs related to story.

An open-world game, upcoming role-playing title Cyberpunk 2077 from developer/publisher CD Projekt Red will allow players freedom to become whoever they want to be as player character V or do almost whatever they wish to do in Night City.

People can hurt others or even take on a role of a pacifist by not killing anyone at all and yet complete all tasks. Despite having very little in-game player restrictions, you won't be able to violently attack any children or NPCs essential to story.

Also, trying to aggressive and antagonize folks have their unique consequences; especially if you decide to pick a fight with gangs or start causing trouble in a police-controlled area, they sure would react and even come after you.

Previously, developer/publisher Bethesda made it so that players of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim would not be able to hurt or kill children by making them unkillable to do away with problematic portrayals of any violence against children.

CDPR actually took a pretty thoughtful step to avoid further unnecessary debacle regarding people getting upset over sensitive subjects as child abuse in a video game by protecting them while making almost everyone else fair game.

CD Projekt Red has already been in controversies regarding transgender representation and minority groups in Cyberpunk 2077 but creator Mike Pondsmith, who came to their defense suggesting the studio is paying proper respect to cultural difference.

Shenmue 3 Backers Getting Refund from Epic Store

Backers of Shenmue III are now getting refund for Steam version by none other than, Epic Games Store.

Long after going through Kickstarter to crowdfund then stuck in development for years than promised, long-awaited action-adventure game Shenmue III is finally set to arrive on November 19, 2019 for PC and PlayStation 4 platforms.

A new gameplay trailer at PC Gaming Show 2019 revealed PC version of the game is now an Epic Games Store-exclusive and backers are denied a refund for this change, causing backlash but Epic Games has come to their rescue now.

If moving over to Epic Store for PC version was not frustrating enough for majority of backers, developer Ys Net and publisher Deep Silver managed to infuriate them by not allowing a refund though their initial response on their official Kickstarter page.

Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki came under heavy backlash as well for promising to provide Steam keys and then switching to EGS, effectively forcing everyone to play it on a storefront that many are not comfortable with for various shady reasons.

RELATED: Last Day of June Free on Epic Games Store Now

In a latest Kickstarter update, developers try to justify their action of shifting outlet by pointing that they couldn't provide Steam keys because of sales policies by Valve, which requires a game to be on their storefront for sale to generate keys.

Physical version will come in a disc with EGS code or they can wait for a year to receive a Steam key after exclusivity period ends. People can also choose to pick a PS4 version if they don't want to redeem digital code for Epic Games Store or just get a refund.

RELATED: Shenmue 3 Won't Cover Ryo's Complete Story

However, higher tier backers are not getting full refund but only partial because many of stretch goal for Shenmue III are already implemented in the game and developers currently working on some post-launch content too.

When people funds video game projects on crowdfunding platforms, they place a huge trust on developers that they don't have for AAA-companies and Ys Net has completely broke that trust with their recent bait and switch act on consumers.

RELATED: Borderlands 3 and Vampire: Bloodlines 2 Pulled from Epic Mega Sale

CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney clarified their position on offering full refund to upset backers on behalf of Ys Net.

RELATED: Epic Games Acquires Psyonix

Now, Sweeney can expect to get some praise from people for handling a grieving situation but not everyone is ready to forget the fact here that whatever major backlash sparked was because of Epic Store trying to snag out another exclusive.

His follow-up Tweet says when they go after crowdfunded games that are successful in future, they would at least ensure that there are keys from other PC stores available to offer or a guaranteed refund and it is nothing but a subtle hint that they will.

RELATED: Shenmue 3 Delayed to November 2019

We are not sure what Shenmue developer Yu Suzuki was thinking about going EGS-exclusive and not even worrying about fans who supported him whereas parent company Sega didn't want to make a sequel because it made no significant business.

Shenmue III has proven to all that Kickstarter can literally do nothing in getting people their money back in situation like this and Tim Sweeney just clearly hinted that parties will advertise their games on Steam only for Epic to snag it later.

Cyberpunk 2077 Will Have Multiple Endings

Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz confirms to feature multiple endings for the game.

Following recent appearance at Xbox E3 2019 press conference event, official release date for upcoming highly anticipated role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 is revealed to be 16 April, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

It is also confirmed by quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz in a recent interview with YouTuber YongYea that developer/publisher CD Projekt Red will be adding multiple endings for their ambitious story-driven RPG, all depending on player choice.

According to Tomaszkiewicz, there is more than one way to end the story for your character based on what path a player would choose during their campaign but he also didn't say that how many ending scenarios they are planning to go for.

For instance, V can opt out from using any cybernetic augmentations or even refrain from killing literally anyone. Exploring in futuristic megalopolis Night City will open up many pleasant or messy situations to you but how you handle it is up to you.

Specialized in RPG development, CDPR has included three major endings for their The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt title of 2015. Following a branching narrative, it offered several other minor endings driven by in-game decisions made by player.

Given how they are aiming to go big with their next project, sci-fi adventure Cyberpunk 2077 may came out offering more endings than you expected. CDPR is strongly considering a Photo Mode but there is no official confirmation on that just yet.

Despite being at crosshairs with media for their apparent portrayal of race and gender, CD Projekt Red has won E3 2019 with a surprise reveal of actor Keanu Reeves (Constantine, The Matrix) playing a main character named Johnny Silverhand.

Other than major console platforms like PS4 and Xbox One, PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 will be available at Epic Games Store, GOG and Steam. A collector's edition is currently up for pre-order that is worth $249.99 featuring digital and physical items.

Sniper Elite series protagonist Karl Fairburne returns with three more survivors at his side and they are shown to be fortifying their position. An explosion nearby shows a massive undead horde is heading this way and a battle rages on.

One of them were wielding a flamethrower until Karl blew it up and handing it over to his fellow fighters to make use of. When a small pack tries to flank him, one got electrocuted before blowing up and others got a few shots to their heads.

Together, four of them gather outside to form a last stand against a wave of dead militia. Apparently, Zombie Hitler has somehow managed to return from the depths of hell and now he is leading an army of dead once again.

Aside from Fairburne himself, other three new members are probably newest recruit of Survivor Brigade. Clue from trailer also suggests that players would be using a variety of weapons other than sniper rifles and X-Ray Kill Cam returns as well.

Dead War will feature a story campaign set within maps of Southern Europe for up to four players and anyone can drop-in at any point. Gameplay progression will let players unlock new set of skills, special attacks and even weapon upgrades.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is planned to head for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms by next year. PC versions will be distributed exclusively via digital outlet of Epic Games Store and will be available on Steam after a year of its release.

Shenmue 3 Epic Store Exclusivity Creates Kickstarter Controversy

After Shenmue III has been announced as Epic Games Store exclusive for PC, backers are now even denied refunds on Kickstarter.

At E3 2019 event, renowned Sega developer and Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki took stage during PC Gaming Show 2019 to showoff brand-new gameplay trailer for Shenmue III and reveal that PC version will be an Epic Games Store-exclusive.

Now whether or not they decided to make it a timed exclusive is not clear yet but many backers are very upset over this decision of shifting platform since it was originally planned for a Steam release and are already asking for a refund.

Right after their announcement at E3, development team has updated their Kickstarter page with new information to declare Epic Store exclusivity. What they explained as reason for their recent decision of changing outlet is given below.

We are happy to announce that Shenmue III for PC will be an Epic Games Store exclusive. Development for Shenmue III has been moving forward using Unreal Engine and the support we have received from Epic has been excellent. But most importantly, in looking for the most enjoyable experience on PC, it was decided together with Deep Silver after much discussion that the Epic Games Store would be the best distribution platform option.

Apparently, it was publisher Deep Silver that pushed for Shenmue III exclusivity and their official statement of most enjoyable experience on PC being on EGS clearly shows how detached they are from players these days.

When they removed Metro Exodus from Steam earlier before launch to make it a timed exclusive at Epic Store, fans were enraged. They started review-bombing to plummet its overall score, which then took Steam to intervene and stop them.

Official Kickstarter page of Ys Net is flooded with angry response from fans seeking either an explanation or their money back. Some pointed out that it was mentioned in early phase of campaign that they are to provide Steam keys for PC platform.

Even those who would purchase a physical copy would only have a box with a code in it that still need to be activated via Epic Store. Charging a $59.99 amount for a box that doesn't even come with a disc seems like a scheme to get some extra money.

RELATED: Judgment Will Still See Western Release

After Yu Suzuki launched the Kickstarter project looking for $2 million in funding back in 2015, it has been backed by nearly 70,000 people and raised over $6 million in a month, only so they can screw over players on PC four years later.

When you thought Epic Store exclusivity was the worst thing to happen to the game, Ys Net has denied granting any refunds for making this change, therefore leaving PC players with no option to either get their hard-earned money or preferred platform.

RELATED: Yakuza Kiwami Comes to Steam

Epic Games are definitely favoring developers by taking only 12% cut from sales rather than 30% and started a trend for exclusive games to incite competition but that is also leading studios into taking such controversial decisions.

A few months ago, Epic Games Store has bagged crowdfunded project Phoenix Point out of nowhere that was originally promised to launch on Steam but in that case, developers were generous enough to offer a refund to its backers at least.

Denying request for refund was perhaps the most anti-consumer act from their part and maybe even led to some legal action, because ripping off people for their money with false pledges like this need some serious consequence enforced by law.

What happened as a result will now have people to be more suspicious before crowdfunding any project on Kickstarter. There is currently a Steam page for the game though but that is probably because they forgot to remove it.

RELATED: Shenmue and Shenmue 2 Re-Release Date

Epic may have given a hefty amount to Deep Silver and Ys Net for a store exclusivity deal like they did with Snapshot Games for having Phoenix Point. However, they should have considered how it would ruin reputation for both companies.

After years of development and a couple of delays, Shenmue III is finally all set to arrive on November 19 for PC and PlayStation 4. Only if they have kept promise of delivering Steam keys to backers, there would probably be a little less backlash.
