A female survivor was sitting beside a nearby campfire inside the woods, sharpening a wooden shaft for her crossbow. She realizes something is stalking her from afar and she then attempts to scare it away by screaming loudly at it.

Next morning, she goes out exploring deep into the uninhabited forest and notices a long blood trail. She picks up her scope to take a better look and aim, only to discover in horror that an infected deer is feeding off a wolf carcass.

State of Decay lets you play as a survivor by base-building, scavenging and often fight zombies in a post-apocalyptic world. Infected people are usually referred as Zeds instead of zombies but introduction of plagued animal is a first.

State of Decay 3 will also arrive on Xbox Game Pass on launch day alongside Microsoft Store and Steam. Undead Labs revealed plans to make a sequel to SoD2 larger than first two games, with inclusion of online multiplayer mode.
