Super Mario Galaxy 2 May Come to Switch Next Year

Nintendo may actually be working on a Switch version of Super Mario Galaxy 2 that will release next year.

To celebrate upcoming 35th anniversary of Super Mario franchise, developer/publisher Nintendo recently announced Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a collection of acclaimed Mario games for Nintendo Switch in a surprise Nintendo Direct.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars will include Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. Though fans are upset to see highly-anticipated Super Mario Galaxy 2 being left out, Nintendo may be planning for its release next year.

Given how Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be available only until March 31, 2020, Nintendo fans are theorizing that Super Mario Galaxy 2 may already been in works for Switch for a while with a planned release window set for April 2020.

Speculations online suggests that Nintendo is most probably working on a digital catalog full of known titles from GameCube, Nintendo 64 and Wii consoles for Nintendo Switch that is about to make its debut sometime next year on April.

If they are able to sell all of their games separately, there is no need to include them in bundles and therefore, Nintendo can individually distribute Super Mario Galaxy 2 without adding it to a collection alongside other Super Mario games.

Nintendo most likely has faced some working restrictions during development of Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Nintendo Switch handheld because of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and was forced to hold back its announcement for a later date.
