Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Will Be PS5-Exclusive, Not Coming to PS4

Back in June, developer Insomniac Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment made an announcement for upcoming platform adventure title Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart at a digital event and reveals next-gen console lineup.

In a recent fan response on social media, Insomniac Games officially confirmed on Twitter that newest Ratchet & Clank game Rift Apart will be a PlayStation 5-exclusive title and probably will not be releasing for PlayStation 4 platform.

Rift Apart will follow a storyline revolving around time travel and its gameplay involves a lot of jumping between dimensions. PS5 will send players through portals by harnessing the power of internal SSD with almost no loading screens.

Insomniac was able to take advantage of PlayStation 5 hardware to showcase its near-limitless possibilities through Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart during reveal event and not a single title from PS5 launch lineup seem to have matched that.

Sony previously confirmed that some of their next-gen lineup titles for PS5 will also be arriving on PS4 for current-gen players, which includes Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart may not have taken full advantage of next-gen system and though very unlikely, fans have been wondering lately that if the game would become available on PS4 at some point so they get a chance to play it.

To get official confirmation, a fan on Twitter asked Insomniac Games about a possible PS4 port in future.

PS4 won't probably be able to run Ratchet & Clank smoothly considering how frequently "Rift Apart" would require fast loading feature of PlayStation 5 and therefore, it actually makes a lot of sense for Insomniac doesn't release a port.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is one of the anticipated next-gen titles that has yet no release date.  Although a 2021 launch window is hinted by Insomniac Games, fans are expecting for a delay as PS5 is only weeks away from arriving at stores.
