The Last of Us Part 2 Delayed Indefinitely

Sony has delayed release of The Last of Us Part II and Iron Man VR for indefinite time until further notice.

In recent wake of Coronavirus pandemic, every major entertainment media including video game industry are being affected and upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive title The Last of Us Part II becomes one of its most recent causality.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has lately decided to postpone launch for two of their expected PS4 titles due to global crisis of COVID-19 that is disrupting related services from providing a standard launch experience for all players.

The Last of Us Part 2 Delayed Indefinitely

RELATED: Naughty Dog Needs to Work on Its Crunch Culture

Originally, The Last of Us 2 had a February release date that was eventually delayed by developer Naughty Dog and moved to May 29, which is now delayed until further notice alongside VR shooter title Marvel's Iron Man VR.

It is safe to say that most recent delay in TLoU2 is not because of developers needing more time to work on it but because of logistics. Since Coronavirus is having impact on economy, Sony had no better option than pushing back its launch.

In a recent post through official Twitter account, Naughty Dog states that they were in the middle of fixing final bugs at this point. Even if they finish it up now, they can't make sure that everyone gets to play it around same time.

Therefore, studios settled on delaying The Last of Us Part 2 until logistic issues can be solved before release. Of course, neither dev team nor players are happy about the postponement but this will be a fair action to everyone right now.

In a time of distress when many are seeking comfort in video games to deal with boredom during quarantine, a widely-anticipated game like The Last of Us sequel getting delayed indefinitely is truly disappointing for sure.

Sony and Naughty Dog will be announcing updates on The Last of Us Part II and Iron Man VR as soon as they will have one. Unless they end up pushing back PlayStation 5 release date, these games may possibly arrive in summer 2020.

PlayStation Plus Free Games for April 2020

PlayStation Plus free games lineup for April 2020 includes Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Dirt Rally 2.0.

Now that PlayStation Plus games for April 2020 have been officially announced by Sony Entertainment, turns out leaks that came out last week revealing Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Dirt Rally 2.0 in advance was actually accurate.

Sony usually unveils their PS Plus schedule on last Wednesday of each month but that schedule was moved out this month for some reason. Both of these PlayStation 4 titles will become available for all monthly subscribers on April 7, 2020.

Death Stranding Getting Photo Mode for PS4

Kojima Productions recently confirms that Photo Mode feature for Death Stranding will arrive on PS4 very soon.

When release date for PC version of open-world action strand game Death Stranding was announced earlier by publisher 505 Games, a much-requested Photo Mode was revealed to be added but was not confirmed for PlayStation 4 yet.

A few weeks later, game director Hideo Kojima came out assuring a Photo Mode for PS4 version as well, which was not surprising though. This feature will become available for players on console in a patch released by end of this month.

Following original announcement for Photo Mode, fans have been bugging Kojima on Twitter asking for its PS4 release. It turns out developer Kojima Productions has been already testing out this latest feature for some time to release soon.

Therefore, owners of Sony console are getting their hands on it way ahead of upcoming PC version release in June 2, 2020. However, platform exclusive Half-Life themed content for DS will not likely to make a jump to PS4 anytime soon.

Kojima shared a few of his experiments with Photo Mode on social media and it appears to work similarly as other staple PS4 title like God of War. He also hinted of a "psychic photo" mode that he used in past for Metal Gear Solid games.

Kojima Productions have yet to reveal an official release window for next Death Stranding update that will introduce this feature and let all enthusiast video game photographers to capture their journey Sam Porter Bridges.

Death Stranding Rumored to Have Missed Sales Targets

According to recent report, Sony is disappointed with overall sales of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding.

Without a doubt, open-world action strand game Death Stranding from developer Kojima Productions and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment was one of the highly anticipated games of 2019 for players on PlayStation 4.

Not only have this game divided player community over whether to call this an absolute masterpiece or an ambiguously boring experience, even Sony is a bit disappointed at its sales, according to a forum posting in ResetEra.

A moderator on ResetEra forum known as Dusk Golem, who usually Tweets stuff about horror games have shared some new information that after sales of Death Stranding has been quite a letdown following initial launch window.

Sony had some high hopes for its sales number after release but the game failed to reach many of their speculated milestones. Moreover, there are currently more than 3 million unsold copies still lying around in their warehouses.

Death Stranding is arguably considered one of the most divisive titles in recent years and there was some trouble during its development period. DS had a mixed reception from both critics and players, dividing over their own opinions.

Sony expected a much darker take, resembling to more horror-esque experience but upon disagreement with game director Hideo Kojima, the game was softly rebooted only a year and a half before launch to rush development.

Besides, Sony Worldwide Studios was not very happy with how much money Kojima Productions were spending for Death Stranding and their differences has eventually led the game end up not being a PlayStation 5 title after all.

Dusk Golem clarifies at start that he has no solid source at hand right now to verify these claims and warns everyone to take it with a grain of salt. However, a few of his threads actually line up nicely to some related speculation from earlier.

RELATED: Death Stranding May be Getting PS5 Sequel

Despite a lack of return on investment in their recent endeavor, Sony is still eager to continue partnership with Kojima as they struck a deal with Konami lately to work on Silent Hill series reboot that would require a smaller budget.

Developing a horror game from well-known franchise would cost a lot less and associating with Kojima's name would create a spike of hype among fans and would be a huge seller for PlayStation brand to make enough financial return.

Throughout this month, the game has seen a 25% price drop at many retail shops, which has dropped even lower this week. Amazon and Walmart stores are currently selling it for $29.99 only to get rid of warehouse inventory fast.

Unlike major exclusives like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn or Marvel's Spider-Man, no milestone for Death Stranding was shared by Sony on social media so far and it even struggled to stay on top of sales charts after release.

Death Stranding Gets 50% Price Drop

Throughout this month, Death Stranding offers a huge discount and drops to its lowest price since launch.

Prior to its launch by end of last year, developer Kojima Productions and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment saw immense hype among fans for open-world action strand title Death Stranding by game director Hideo Kojima.

Earlier in March 2020, there has been a price drop from as low as 15% to 25% at select retailer stores and today, the game gets another price reduction at Walmart shop, bringing its worth to lowest ever since November 2019 release.

Walmart is currently offering Death Stranding for $29.99 only, which is 33% lesser than its previously set price of $44.99 from weeks ago. Even Collector's Edition of Death Stranding comes at a cheaper price of $149.99 only at 25% off.

This $199.99 worth bundle with tons of themed goodies being sold at a known reseller at such reduced price is a steal to be honest. Fans who always wanted to own one of those and was looking for a discount may try to grab one as well.

Moreover, there is a BB Pod Statue, BRIDGES Cargo Case, Ludens Keychain, Steelbook case and additional digital content. A similar price drop is also reflecting in Amazon listings for this must-have item alongside other variant editions.

Death Stranding received critical acclaim for its gameplay and unique story concept of a courier guy named Sam Porter Brides, who make deliveries to remote colonies of a dystopian world and tries to reconnect them under a network.

Sony Wants to Buy Castlevania, Metal Gear and Silent Hill from Konami

Old rumor of Sony looking to buy popular Konami franchises is refueled by recent reports of Silent Hill reboot.

For weeks, reports of a Silent Hill reboot game by Hideo Kojima is out there and two more franchise of developer/publisher Konami has joined that list, according to another recent rumor from image-based bulletin board 4Chan.

A user on 4Chan who claimed to be a Konami employee, states earlier that Sony Interactive Entertainment is interested to purchase Castlevania, Metal Gear and Silent Hill series to produce a series of PlayStation 5-exclusives.

A full reboot of Castlevania series in style of Bloodborne and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is planned for SIE Japan Studio. Sony previously helped Konami with PlayStation 4 ports of Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night in 2018.

Apparently, Sony wishes to remake Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake from military action-adventure series from decades ago that spearheaded stealth genre in video games with franchise creator Hideo Kojima on board.

RELATED: Naughty Dog Needs to Work on Its Crunch Culture

They are also pushing Konami for a soft reboot of their iconic survival horror game series Silent Hill with Kojima in charge. There are even several attempts of reviving Kojima's 2015 canceled title Silent Hills for next-gen console PS5.

Creator of Silent Hill and Siren game series, Keiichiro Toyama and lead concept artist of The Evil Within series, Ikumi Nakamura are involved as well. Several former alums related to series are also joining a development team under Japan Studio.

Although often times 4Chan posts leads to dead ends and should be taken with a grain of salt, this leak from January 2020 nicely aligns with many recent reports by reliable sources as well as hints from involved individuals of dev teams.

By end of last year, Kojima stated to try and awaken his horror soul to make a scariest horror game, which fans took as a nod to cancelled Silent Hills, starring actor Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) in lead role.

Masahiro Ito, artist who worked on Silent Hill games have been making his own share of cryptic Tweets as well. He mentions of being in team of a game that he wishes not to get cancelled, which is another clear hint at Silent Hills.

Moreover, Sony is reportedly pushing Konami to revive their old IPs and resolve differences with Hideo Kojima for some time. While they are ready to fully fund these ambitions projects, Kojima would be given full creative control.

Konami and Hideo Kojima Rumored to Work on Silent Hills Reboot

Recent rumors suggest that Hideo Kojima and Konami will team up to revive Silent Hill franchise through a reboot.

When a massive dispute between Hideo Kojima and developer/publisher Konami has led to the former to leave company back in 2015, an attempted reboot of fan-favorite Silent Hill survival horror series was being shelved for good.

Earlier this year, there was a rumor of Konami working on two new titles from their iconic series. A latest rumor suggests that Sony is apparently trying to revive Silent Hills for PlayStation 5 console with Kojima and Konami on board.

Shortly after Kojima's departure, Komani has cancelled his ambitious project and removed its demo titled P.T. ("playable teaser") from PlayStation Store and even after five years of its cancellation, fans are still clamoring to bring it back.

After seeking out various developer studios to get a pitch, Konami ended up settling for two new Silent Hill games. One of them is a series reboot and another will be more in episodic format like most titles from Telltale Games.

One source states that creature designer Masahiro Ito of original series is currently working on one of those new game. 1999 Silent Hill director and writer, Keiichiro Toyama along with composer Akira Yamaoka is also reportedly returning.

Rumor has it that, this trio is assembled by SIE Japan Studio for a soft reboot of the franchise, joining up with development team of Project Siren, a group that previously worked on 2008 PlayStation 3 horror game Siren: Blood Curse.

For a rumored second game, Sony is interested to re-launch Kojima's canceled title in anticipation of upcoming next-gen release as a PS5-exclusive by having Konami own the IPs and let Kojima Productions continue its development.

Given past history between Metal Gear series creator and its Japanese publisher, it seems quite impossible for any collaboration among them but Sony has stepped in to build a bridge to patch things up for a series reboot of Silent Hill.

If Sony can somehow manage to make two new Silent Hill games as PlayStation 5-exclusive, they can be a driving force to sell more consoles. There are plans to include VR support to promote next-gen PlayStation VR device as well.

An immense fan-demand for scrapped Silent Hills game has forced Sony to seriously rethink its revival. Although it took years for Konami to get Silent Hill series back in track, fans would finally see Kojima making the scariest horror game.

Naughty Dog Needs to Work on Its Crunch Culture

Employees working at Naughty Dog are reaching limits of their "crunch culture" to release The Last of Us Part II.

In video game industry, "crunch" or working extra hours out of your regular schedule to meet deadline is an unavoidable term for most companies even though they are extremely frowned upon by loyal fans and game journalists.

According to new reports from Jason Schreier of Kotaku, developer studio Naughty Dog tends to encourage workplace crunch culture to its team just to get their game complete in time, including upcoming The Last of Us Part II.

RELATED: The Last of Us TV Series Comes to HBO

Schreier talked to a bunch of past and present employees of the studio under anonymity to learn that Naughty Dog used crunch culture in many of their past game development cycle and it started to get messy with TLoU Part 2.

People who work there are content under current management team and although they don't outright tell anyone to work overtime, there is a sub-textual implication of getting the job done at all costs, says a former developer.

RELATED: The Last of Us Part 2 to Feature Nudity & Sexual Content

When they had to delay The Last of Us Part II to May 2020, it was simply because game director Neil Druckmann thought the game was not up to Naughty Dog quality yet and needs more polish to avoid narrowing original vision.

Therefore, this delay announcement did not put developers at ease and they had to go double as hard. This timely postponement has only helped narrowly avoid a messy situation among studio employees that was almost inevitable.

RELATED: The Last of Us Part 2 Gameplay Details

In some cases, Naughty Dog doesn't even try to hide their workload and looks for individuals that are willing to work extra hours. New staffs are encouraged to work longer periods just to try and make things close to perfect.

Some developers are hoping for The Last of Us 2 to fail just so it could prove that poor working conditions don't work, which seems unlikely for a game that is praised in all preview events and a studio known for their approach to perfection.

RELATED: The Last of Us Part 2 Wraps Shooting

This cycle of extensive pressure force employees to crunch hard until Naughty Dog ships a game that scores great. Once it starts generating bonuses, senior employees leave studio and thus, creating a cycle of recruiting and departures.

Last year, there were reports of Rockstar Games pushing developers for 100 hours of work weeks during development of Red Dead Redemption 2 just to launch it in time, which got rave reviews and sold pretty well on all platforms.

RELATED: Neil Druckmann Talks The Last of Us Inspiration

Crunch culture has always existed in game industry but only came under fire when reports started exposing its brutal practices recently. Earlier this year, CD Projekt Red admitted that they have to crunch to get Cyberpunk 2077 out in time.

Video game industry is not doing away with its terrible crunch culture anytime soon unless of course customers start questioning on what does it cost to make their favorite entertainment products, so a serious change comes from within.

Former Horizon Zero Dawn Producer Responds to Angry Fans Over PC Port

In response to angry PlayStation fans on Twitter, former Guerrilla Games producer defends decision for PC port of Horizon Zero Dawn.

Right after developer Guerrilla Games has officially confirmed a month-old rumor for PC version of 2017 action role-playing game Horizon Zero Dawn lately, it sparked a reaction among PlayStation 4 player community online.

Many who are upset are part of a vocal minority that is not happy that HZD will no longer be an exclusive to Sony platform. A former producer at Guerrilla Games, Sam Sharma recently reaches out one of these angry fans with a response.

When an irritated PS4 player shared a video clip of a trashed office earlier, implying that it was vandalized by that outraged fan as a reaction to the announcement, former producer of the game Sam Sharma decided to reply back.

This user @THEAP99 on Twitter has tagged a number of Sony associates who worked on or somehow have ties to Horizon, which probably lead Sharma to take notice of this ranting video that has now been watched over a million times.

Upon seeing a heated response, Sharma reaches out to that fuming fan by saying the following on his Twitter.

When Sharma chimed in to that Tweet, PlayStation fans on social media became split arguing over merit of this move from Sony. Many are really appreciative to decision of HZD port and then some are on serious meltdown mode.

Soon, it was all revealed to be a prank from a parody account that was planned for months. Nevertheless, a lot of fans are really annoyed that a PlayStation 4-exclusvie game would now become available to another platform.

RELATED: Horizon Zero Dawn Hits 10 Million Sales

Some are even pointing out that "Only on PlayStation" marketing line on games are literally a scam then. As Sharma pointed out, releasing a previously exclusive game for a new platform after years shouldn't takeaway one's enjoyment.

Horizon Zero Dawn may have sold its share of units on PS4 console already but its sales number on PC may be a driving factor for them to consider this strategy in future and there could be more ports from current console generation.

Horizon Zero Dawn Coming to PC in Summer 2020

PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn will be coming on summer 2020 and Sony has no plans to port every PlayStation exclusives.

Last year, a rumor from Russian YouTuber Anton Logvinov hinted that critically-acclaimed 2017 action role-playing game Horizon Zero Dawn, a PlayStation 4-exclusive from developer Guerrilla Games may get a PC port by early 2020.

Then in January 2020, a Kotaku report from Jason Schreier has confirmed that very claim and most recently, Hermen Hulst of Worldwide Studios has announced a PC version of HZD has been scheduled to come out in summer 2020.

RELAETD: Horizon Zero Dawn May Come to PC

Horizon Zero Dawn was launched in February 2017 by publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and become one of the best-selling PS4 games of all time by selling over 10 million copies worldwide by its second year anniversary.

HZD getting a PC port is a first for Sony to release one of their internally developed first-party titles to a platform outside of PlayStation, except for PlanetSide 2 from Sony Online Entertainment and this is a very unusual for them.

RELAETD: Horizon Zero Dawn Sequel Confirmed by Voice Actor

Although Sony published Hideo Kojima's widely-anticipated 2019 release Death Stranding on PS4 last year, its PC version is getting released by 505 Games and in that case, developer Kojima Productions was an independent studio.

Same goes for French game developer studio Quantic Dream, who released PC version for some of their well-known titles at least more than a year later that were previously launched by Sony as exclusives to PlayStation consoles.

RELAETD: Job Listing Suggests Horizon Zero Dawn Sequel in Development?

In his recent interview, Hulst explains that open-world game Horizon Zero Dawn is just a great fit for a more powerful hardware than PS4 and Sony is keen to show people what they are truly missing out as they stay open to new ideas.

However, releasing one first-party AAA game on PC simply doesn't mean that every other PlayStation IPs will now follow and make debut on a different platform, even though Microsoft has been using this same strategy for years.

RELAETD: Horizon Zero Dawn Hits 10 Million Sales

Though rumor for a sequel to Horizon was revealed by a voice actor followed by a job listing in November 2019 almost confirmed that, Guerilla Games remains completely silent and wants everyone to focus on its upcoming PC port.

Horizon Zero Dawn is currently listed on Steam as Complete Edition of the game and is published by PlayStation Mobile. PC version will include add-on items and The Frozen Wilds expansion pack alongside HZD full game.

Aside from exploring many popular Marvel properties, 2018 PlayStation 4-exclusive action-adventure game Marvel's Spider-Man from developer Insomniac Games has a lot of references to other movies and video games media.

Even after 18 months of its release, enthusiastic fans are still seeing new Easter eggs hidden in-game. Most recently, Reddit user SuperiorArachnid has pointed out an open nod to Hank Pym that he saw no one else mentioning so far.

Only a month away from release, upcoming action role-playing PlayStation 4-exclusive title Nioh 2 from developer studios Koei Tecmo Games and Team Ninja has already showed off gameplay footage and revealed story bits.

If you have participated in early Open Beta program and taken notes, your chances of survival may improve. Powered with ability of summoning Yokai beasts and wielding Switchglaive weapon in combat are only a few useful tools.

This trial picks three missions to put your fighting skills into test against legion of deadly creatures. Though no game progress will be transferred from demo to main game on launch, your custom samurai character surely will.

Like any other masocore games, Nioh 2 will best your skills and improve your style to shape your character up. Playing carelessly can lead to an end of your journey into dark fantasy adventure with a single shot from a common enemy.

It has a nice blend of Japanese tradition with inclusion of mythological Yokai creatures and history of Sengoku era. Popular in folklore stories, not all of these beasts are always hostile and there are some friendly ones around as well.

Getting assisted by Yokai allies can make you feel overconfident though and rather vulnerable to deadly blows. This time-limited demo of Last Chance Trial features new bosses and will only transfer your system save file to full game.

Nioh 2 doesn't include an easy mode but adds deep customization that would eventually suit your unique playstyle. Upon completing first mission from demo, players will unlock Kamaitachi helmet DLC item and carry it to main game.

Nioh 2 Won't Have Easy Mode

Team Ninja has revealed recently that Nioh 2 will not add an easy mode but let players take different approach.

Set during Sengoku period of feudal Japan, upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive action role-playing game Nioh 2 from developer studios Koei Tecmo Games and Team Ninja is currently scheduled to launch on March 13, 2020.

With only mere months away from release, Team Ninja has recently revealed not to add an easy mode for sequel to Nioh. There will be a set difficulty level but people are given choice to approach enemies in various ways.

Of course, there are casual player groups that would often ask for an easy mode, debating on accessibility in video games but dev team argues that giving them an easy pass can completely ruin an overall vision they have for the game.

Although you are locked in with a specific difficulty level, there are ways to change outcome through combat tactics. That means, when someone dies in-game, it is because they made a mistake and not because of impossible complexity.

RELATED: Nioh 2 Story Trailer

Those who took part in Open Beta program earlier has complained that combat seemed unfair and too hard at times. Afterwards developers adjusted have accordingly so that if you die making a risky move, it would feel like your fault.

Nioh 2 not only features a variety of new enemies but there are a number of different ways to take each of them down. This is unlike its predecessor title, where one can get used to deal with certain enemies in specific areas.

Many of common combat elements like ki meter and stances will return alongside new move like Yokai-Force, which would allow players to call upon their guardian spirits when needed in battle to change course of an ongoing fight.

Instead of playing with a set character like Irish warrior William Adams from first game, Nioh 2 would allow players create their own custom samurai to fight monstrous supernatural enemies known as Yokai from latter half of Sengoku era.

The Last of Us Part 2 to Feature Nudity & Sexual Content

ESRB rating for The Last of Us Part 2 reveals to feature nudity and explicit sexual content, a first for a Naughty Dog game.

Known as original developer of Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter series, Naughty Dog studio is largely known for developing family-friendly games but then they started to lean more towards adult themes during PlayStation 3 era.

With 2013 release of acclaimed action-adventure survival horror The Last of Us, a lot of gore and graphic violence was introduced but upcoming The Last of Us Part II will be the first Naughty Dog title to feature nudity and sexual content.

The Last of Us Part 2 to Feature Nudity & Sexual Content

RELATED: The Last of Us Part 2 Delayed to May 2020

According to new age rating given by ESRB on official PlayStation Store page, TLoU2 received "M" for "Mature" mark. Its predecessor title has already displayed intense violence but they never really explored explicit content territory.

Though an early demo of TLoU Part II had some comments and mild overtone at adult themes, they were actually too subtle to be on the nose. It simply shows Ellie and Dina talking about their relationship while sharing a joint together.

As an adult now, Ellie is romantically involved with a girl named Dina and there may be intimate moments between them that are shown throughout gameplay when she goes on a killing spree after something wrong probably happened to her love.

Adding "nudity" and "sexual content" is a major leap for Naughty Dog since they were mostly suggestive in past when it came to intimate subject. These content warning is a clear hint of studio claim for most mature and adult tale yet.

Though major studios often make sex scenes between video game characters awkward and cringey, Naughty Dog can be trusted to make an artistic and true-to-life depiction for a story, given their reputation in narrative design.

Though many fans were disappointed when news of The Last of Us Part II being delayed came out but then game director Neil Druckmann assured everyone that it will make fans proud when it finally arrives on May 29, 2020.

PlayStation Plus Free Games for February 2020

PlayStation Plus free games lineup of February 2020 adds Bioshock: The Collection, The Sims 4 and Firewall: Zero Hour.

Shortly ahead of February 2020, upcoming monthly free PlayStation 4 games lineup for members of PlayStation Plus is recently announced by Sony Entertainment and they look quite promising to begin a new month with.

For next month, PS Plus is giving out three games instead of two and those who haven't got a chance to play games from last month can still catch up to Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Goat Simulator before February 4.

PlayStation Plus Free Games for February 2020

Offering complete experience of iconic first-person adventure from original series, Bioshock: The Collection features all single-player story content from BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite in a bundle of remastered trilogy.

Players would begin their journey on 60's utopian city of Rapture underwater to escape before tangling into another conflict eight years later in a sequel and then head over to flying city of Columbia in search of a woman named Elizabeth.

Latest in long-running life simulation game series, The Sims 4 by developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts will be celebrating its 20th birthday next month, which is a great moment to jump on in for creating your own virtual world.

Then owners of PS VR can take part into a 4v4 tactical shooter playing Firewall: Zero Hour. An exclusive for PS platform, this first-person virtual reality game will be receiving a brand-new free content update including Oil Rig map soon.

Long-time subscribers of PlayStation Plus service would admit that Sony used to offer better deal each month before they got rid of PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita games, which are now limited to only two PS4 games per month.

After a revolt of fans back in July 2019, Sony has become more selective in choosing games for their valued PS Plus members. Recently revealed free games for February will be available to download and play until March 2, 2020.
