Since brand-new suits are one of the most beloved features of the game among fans, the new chapter introduces three great new suits. There is the Iron Spider suit from "Civil War" crossover event because many wanted the comic-book version.

The second inclusion is the Spider-Clan Suit, taken from the pages of Marvel Mangaverse and designed in animated-style. You will also have Spider-Armor MK I, which may prove useful to use against Hammerhead in a fight.

God of War Prequel Comics

Dark Horse writer Chris Roberson comes up with a prequel story for Kratos, God of War with artist Tony Parker.

The newly rebooted run of mythology based action-adventure game God of War from developer Santa Monica Studio was undoubtedly one of this year's biggest games. The saga is moved from Greek mythology to Norse mythology to establish a new run.

Although that seemingly worked out pretty well for a new setting of this game, there was void left behind that needed to be filled. So, after releasing God of War: The Official Novelization for the title, a four-issue prequel comic series is in works now.

When comic-book writer Chris Roberson (Aliens – Fire and Stone, Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. – 1953) from Dark Horse Comics handled the project of creating a prequel this year's PS4 blockbuster, he was intrigued and intimidated at the same time.

Roberson was aware of the new setting of Kratos that has been moved from his previous roots and it surely was a huge task. A story that takes characters from one era or genre and places them into another has opportunities for a lot of development.

A world filled with ice giants and trolls itself is vast enough to throw different obstacles at Kratos in his way to encounter every now and then. Then again, handling such a recognizable and well-established character with a huge fan-following is quite challenging.

To add more to his backstory, both Santa Monica Studios and Dark Horse Comics decided to go with a direct prequel to the new game that will maintain continuity. To start with that itself is a herculean task itself and also an honor.

The story premise follows Kratos after he has left his history with Olympus behind and builds a new life in the remote Norse wilds. Destiny would still find a way to use his rage for fuel of destruction and thus he entangled into troubled he didn't wanted.

When he was trying to save a stranger from being mauled to death by a monstrous bear in the woods, he unintentionally gets into beef with a mysterious cult. Since the former Ghost of Sparta always gets punished for his good deeds, this time seems not to be any different than his bloodied past.

RELATED: The Evil Within 2 Tie-In Comics

Collaborator and artist Tony Parker was a great help to Roberson as well as game director Cory Barlog. During their first conversation, he pitched the basic outline of the plot and then it took some time to eventually bring the story to life.

The first issue from the series is going to be released on November 14, 2018 and the prequel story nicely ties to the emotional journey Kratos go through in the new God of War game. All of this hard work will only pay off when readers will see it for themselves and enjoy the extended take on the saga.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Making of Fireclaw

Celebrating the first anniversary of Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds, Guerrilla Games sat down to talk about creating one of the in-game creatures, Fireclaw.

Last year, around the same time this week, developer Guerrilla Games has released The Frozen Wilds expansion for their action role-playing game Horizon Zero Dawn on PlayStation 4, which added brand-new chapter for Aloy to explore new grounds and complete quests.

Of course, the world of HZD is full of dangerous machines everywhere that she would come across during her journey and hunt them down. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the expansion, developers Richard Oud and Pinar Temiz talks about one such fierce character known as Fireclaw.

Initially they came up with the idea of creating a machine hybrid creature for HZD that resembles to a bear but due to time constraints, that idea was scrapped. So, when they were back at developing The Frozen Wilds, the idea of bear came back.

The team then immediately delved into development with design documents for making the bear concept into a machine. Animation department were provided the 3D models and they started testing with its attack and other movements.

Some of the designs were implemented and some are tested but then left out when they thought some of its moves may come as difficult for players to get a read on. The design and animation team worked on it to come to a solution eventually.

Now that they established a better set of movement for the creature, AI department started putting the bear into the game and senior sound designer Pinar Temiz started working on its sound effects and vocalizations.

RELATED: PlayStation Plus Free Games for November 2018

Fireclaw is a huge bear-like machine that had move set comprised of lava-based attacks but it still has some similarity with other machines from Horizon Zero Dawn, which was a starting point for Pinar to work with an idea of not making it too clunky.

Check out his take on the idle movements of the beast from the game in the clip below when it is not engaging into a fight and just simply minding its own business.

RELATED: Horizon Zero Dawn Board Game Fully Funded

When the animation team was done making the basic movements and walking set for Fireclaw, they decided to add reference nature of grizzly bears from video clips. However, they moved to polar bears simply due to the fact that they are of a bit more authoritative figures and have slightly different features.

Since the idea of the creature came from bears, it makes sense when the studio took a round on variety of their races but wouldn't it sound completely crazy if they start looking up to Red Pandas? That is what happened and they got what they needed from YouTube.

Though looks quite cute, Red Pandas actually use their body weight to put their opponents down in a fight and the way they simply drops and rolls is amazing. Looks like the creators of the famous Kung Fu Panda franchise has taken their inspiration for the series from the same source.

After a few processing and development of layering those sources, the second stage of performance came out next.

RELATED: Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist DLC Out Now

Pinar studied bears grunting, other animals that has an intimidating sound of being grumpy and the solution came from walruses and seals. These grunts mixed with synthetic movement sounds slowly helped him achieve the right mark he was looking for.

Now that he came to a stable state with the desired vocalization of Fireclaw, all they wanted was not to make the motions and sounds repetitive. All animators and sound designers worry about falling into this dilemma very often.

RELATED: Days Gone Delayed Again

Over time, this can be a problem when player will notice that it seems artificial and forcible on them. This has to be avoided at any cost but the studio didn't have enough resources to spare or much time at hand to keep working on it.

Therefore, the studio of Guerrilla Games came up with a system that will pick randomness and then mix it with their finite resource pool to bring variation. They even had this repetition issue on the early stages as well when Aloy used to ride her mount.

Bipedal Movement Animation

Fortunately, their solution worked and different variations were achieved from random cycles to provide a non-repetitive, natural look. The team even delivered different layers of sounds for both front and back footsteps.

Another issue that troubled them was when Fireclaw and Frostclaw stood on their two legs; it felt like a guy in a metal bear suit, which is awkward. So, more footage of reference came to play until they finally came to a convincing bipedal stance.

Distinct Frostclaw Model

What many people may not have known is that the studio used human performances among the mix of machine vocalizations but getting it right was the tricky part. So, human voices were pitched down and blended with other sounds.

Aside from these work, both Fireclaw and Frostclaw has their unique models and sizes to work with. They even have distinct attack animations, many of which taken reference from various CGI portrayals of Hollywood blockbuster movies.

RELATED: Red Dead Redemption 2 PS4 Pro Bundle Revealed

These up close development phases and videos clearly depicts how much coordinated team work it takes to create one of these creatures to come alive into the game environment and that is definitely a lot harder than defeating them in-game.

Developer Guerrilla Games have obviously taken a lot of effort to create these individual machines to add to their game and Horizon Zero Dawn became so great because of their dedicated hard work towards this project.

PlayStation Plus Free Games for November 2018

PlayStation Plus free games lineup has picked up Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition and Yakuza Kiwami for the month of November 2018.

Hope you are having a blast this Halloween whether trick or treating or just lazily sitting around playing video games, which is probably your favorite thing to do, right? We are at the endgame of the year 2018 and November seems to be very promising (for now).

Last month, not everyone was impressed with survival horror title Friday the 13th: The Game and futuristic sports game Laser League. So, a new free games lineup of this month for PlayStation Plus subscribers has been carefully chosen this time.

playstation plus free games november 2018
PlayStation Plus Free Games for November 2018

Before we just jump into the PS Plus lineup, let's take a quick look at the short clip below showcasing all the titles for November 2018.

The very first game we got our hands onto is a first-person shooter titled Bulletstorm from People Can Fly and Epic Games that Electronic Arts had the Publishing rights to. You can play it in both solo and co-op mode in a 26th century setup.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition gets you all the exclusive content of the game for a definitive experience. Players will take the role of Grayson Hunt, who runs a black ops team called the Dead Echo and on a mission to either seek payback or survive.

Next up is a remake of the first game from the acclaimed action-adventure Yakuza series, Yakuza Kiwami from Sega and Deep Silver. Originally released on PlayStation 3, the game was later launched on PlayStation 4 in 2016 and now is visually enhanced for 4K.

The game follows the story of Kazuma Kiryu, who is known as the Dragon of Dojima and he takes the fall for a murder of a crime boss at the hands of his friend. When he finally comes out ten years later, he discovers himself in the middle of a mess.

Some more free games from PlayStation Plus lineup for the month of November 2018 is still there and let's take a quick look at the list below.

  • Jackbox Party Pack 2 (PlayStation 3)
  • Arkedo Series (PlayStation 3)
  • Burly Men At Sea (Cross Buy with PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4)
  • Roundabout (Cross Buy with PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4)

If the Battle Royale genre interests you and you don't mind playing H1Z1 (because this is clearly not PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, nor even Fortnite) then we recommend you get the PlayStation Plus Blueshift Pack with goodies for free until November 13.

Hopefully, Bulletstorm and Yakuza Kiwami will be able to sustain you for the month or long enough till games like Battlefield V, Fallout 76 and Spyro Remastered Trilogy comes out and makes you completely forget everything else.

MediEvil PS4 Announcement Trailer

The unlikely hero of Gallowmere returns this Halloween with the first trailer for MediEvil remake on PS4.

When the initial announcement was made for classic action-adventure hack and slash game MediEvil to come back as a remake at last year at PlayStation Experience, it just blown away the fans of the series and made many '90s kids excited as hell.

After two long decade, SIE Worldwide Studios is bringing the game back to PlayStation 4 with lot of memories. The official PS4 announce trailer for MediEvil has picked the night of Halloween 2018 and they couldn't have chosen any better time than this.

Before we talk spookier, let's take a quick look at the first footage of MediEvil and see what's in store for us.

Though the game was originally pitched as a remaster project but then we noticed most recently that the description has been changed to a full remake and boy, you can tell by the trailer footage that how much work they have put in to rebuild the whole thing.

The graphics of the game is completely reworked in terms of animations, character design, movements and surrounding areas. What once was a collective mess of polygonal shapes running around has come out as freshly carved out living pieces.

For those who don't know, MediEvil follows the story of Sir Daniel Fortesque or better known as Sir Dan, who was a champion of his people but unfortunately he died quickly in a battle against evil wizard named Zarok, who went into hiding afterwards.

When Zarok resurfaced a century later to take over the kingdom of Gallowmere with his resurrected army of undeads, he unwittingly revives Dan as well. Now, reduced to a skeletal corpse, Sir Dan takes the chance at redemption by opposing the evil sorcerer.

The formula of re-releasing of classic titles from fan-favorite series like Crash Bandicoot as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, collecting the first three games has met with immense success and prompt Spyro the Dragon to be branded as Spyro Reignited Trilogy, currently in bound for PS4 and Xbox One on November 13.

We are pretty sure that this remake will do great upon release and hopefully the developers and publishers will be convinced enough to do the same treatment with its sequel, MediEvil 2 up next if they haven't thought of it already.

Bloodborne
This action role-playing game by developer From Software is one worthy successor of their immensely popular Dark Souls series in terms of freakishly gruesome legion of enemies, savage level of playing difficulty and melee-based combat system.

Bloodborne takes players to the Gothic world of Yharnam where they took the role of a Hunter who takes the responsibility of clean the city of all beastly creatures that has been plagued it for some time while the Hunter seeks Paleblood for some unknown reason.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition
A top-down shoot 'em up game from Housemarque Climax Studios, this title has an average to favorable amount of reviews on its credential. Apocalypse Edition is an enhanced version for PS4 to enjoy the gory violence of zombie apocalypse in HD.

You can either play as Jack McReady or Scarlett Blake in a single-player mode or even pick both during co-op mode. Though Dead Nation mostly follows a typical story of a virus outbreak that starts an undead nightmare but the gameplay is quite satisfying when you see them getting massacred in an onslaught of blazing gunfire.

Soma
Horror works better from a first-person perspective and Frictional Games have probably figured that out before making the game. They even quirked some science fiction twist into the core of this survival horror, which saved it from being so generic of its kind.

You take control of lead character Simon Jarrett, who wakes up in an underwater research facility on the year 2104 after majority of humankind gets extinct by the impact of a massive comet. He then gets through horrors to get to fellow survivor Catherine Chun.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
This particular game from developer/publisher The Astronauts takes you in for a horror adventure that is set in an open world environment. Despite winning a BAFTA award in 2015, the game is heavily underrated even till date.

Focused on the adventures of paranormal detective Paul Prospero, players embark a journey to find a missing young boy named Ethan Carter in Red Creek Valley and what follows are the dark secrets of their family that threatens the life of everyone around.

Until Dawn
The best thing about Until Dawn is that you simply cannot see everything in it in just one playthrough and kudos to developer studio Supermassive Games for that. Aside from story and everything else, this mechanics increases the replay value for this horror adventure.

Just like many other Hollywood slasher films, the plot involves a group of friends goes for a holiday and things go wrong. Featuring an all-star cast like Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, trapped inside a remote cabin in the woods where they die one by one in goriest way possible by an unknown creature.

XCOM 2
To introduce some varieties into the mix, here comes a turn-based tactics game from Firaxis Games and 2K Games. After the 2012 series reboot, tactical role-playing elements of the title has been improved and faster combat has been introduced.

XCOM 2 lets players be a part of a military organization that is trying its best to fend off an alien invasion on our planet. As the commander of the army, you charge your squad through all odds to stop the xenos from liquifying the fellow humans before taking over on Earth.

Apparently, Halloween came this year on a nice note that PlayStation Now members can now download the games directly to their consoles and unless you are binge playing Red Dead Redemption 2 from Rockstar Games like almost everyone else, these horror games are the only good things you need for this holiday season.

Days Gone Delayed Again

Upcoming zombie-apocalypse adventure Days Gone from Bend Studio has been delayed again for two months now.

Upcoming action-adventure survival horror game Days Gone from developer Bend Studio and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment was previously delayed to 2019 and then came up with an official release date of February 22, 2019.

However, according to a recent official Blog post, this PlayStation 4-exclusive title has now been pushed back for two more months and newly revealed launch date is set for April 26, 2019. The developer studio wants to take this extra time to further polish the game.

Though these setbacks can be annoying for this highly anticipated title, it may actually be for good because the February 2019 lineup is pretty crowded with games like Anthem, Crackdown 3 and Metro Exodus from Electronic Arts, Microsoft and Deep Silver respectively.

Moving up to April makes the game one of the biggest console launch for that month as well as less competition at that time. Plus, those couple of extra months in development can really makes a difference to the game that is already looking pretty awesome.

Days Gone is a post-apocalyptic motorbike adventure in a world which has been ravaged by zombie-like creatures called Freakers and players take the role of a bounty hunter and drifter named Deacon St. John, who scavenges for supplies in order to survive.

The game was originally revealed back at E3 2016 and then went on to release a few videos showcasing some extended gameplay walkthroughs. Initially, the creators wanted to release the game on 2018 but due to circumstances, it is delayed this long.

More than half the year is over and PlayStation Plus has been treating their fans with some really good games. In September, players had fun with online multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny 2 and action-adventure hack and slash game God of War III Remastered.

By far, these two are the best ones PS Plus subscribers got their hands on throughout the entire year. We are nearly on the verge of October and Sony has released a new free games lineup for upcoming month.

Let's take a quick look at the short clip below showcasing all the titles for October 2018 before we get into what is ahead of us in PS Plus lineup.

Our first pick of the month is a survival horror title Friday the 13th: The Game from IllFonic and Gun Media. Up to seven players can take part in the game with one of them controlling iconic slasher-genre villain Jason Voorhees while the others try to survive from him.

Banded up in a group of six teenage counselors at Camp Crystal Lake, you either try to escape and run from him or try to fight back the masked killer as a team before he hunts each one of you down. The choice is up to you.

Next up in our list is a futuristic sports game titled Laser League from developer Roll7 and publisher 505 Games. This one is released only months ago for major available platforms after initially debuting in 2017 via Early Access.

Players will start it as a fun experience to play with your reflexes and will quickly escalate into a struggle where strategic movement as a team is required. Even though it is not like one of those AAA-titles or anything like that, you can still enjoy it to have a decent time.

Fortnite Cross-Play Beta Launched on PS4

Sony is finally bringing a beta cross-platform feature to PS4 today with free-to-play game Fortnite.

For long Sony had this weird arrogance of not allowing cross-platform play with Microsoft and Nintendo console owners. Even after being relentlessly ridiculed by gamers from all around the world about it, they had been maintaining their stubborn take on cross-play.

However, their policy has been reversed for good and today they announced of launching a Fortnite cross-platform beta. Now players owning a PlayStation 4 console can jump into adventure with fellow brethrens over Nintendo Switch, PC and Xbox One.

Back in June, when a version of Fortnite Battle Royale was released for Switch, players quickly discovered that their Epic Games account linked with PlayStation are being restricted to use, which has disappointed many and created a huge controversy overnight.

Although Sony initially apologized and promised to work on a solution but as time went by, it became very clear that they are not going to do anything about it. It even led to fall in their stock price while they took heat on social media.

However, they have finally come forward to take a step toward the future for better by allowing a beta for cross-platform play with Epic Games' massively popular multiplayer title across Android, iOS, Mac, PC, Switch and Xbox One.

For a time being, they will be testing technical aspects and will allow this feature to more select third party content eventually. For the sake of providing a better gaming experience for everyone, Sony is making a change to their policy and we believe people will appreciate it.

On their official Blog, President and Global CEO of PlayStation, John Kodera have stated the following regarding their cross-play initiative.

We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective.

This may very well turn the tide of things and a huge turning point for the industry as they gave up their economic concerns. They were even scorned by publisher studio Bethesda for their backward perspective over things a few months back.

However, we must not lose sight that how they specifically mentioned about introducing the concept to more third party content soon but only to the ones "selected", which leaves more room for disappointment in the foreseeable future.
