Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island DLC Refers to PlayStation-Exclusives

Celebrating a year of success for 2020 samurai action-adventure game Ghost of Tsushima this year, developer Sucker Punch Productions finally launches its definitive "Director's Cut" edition lately for both PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles.

Only days after Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut has been released; enthusiast fans are finding references to few classic PlayStation IPs while playing new Iki Island DLC expansion and sharing them across various social media platforms.

Latest adventure of Ghost of Tsushima protagonist Jin Sakai takes him to neighboring Iki Island where he comes across a number of Wind Shrines, three of them indirectly hinting at renowned PlayStation-exclusive games like God of War.

Your tour to Shrine of Ash may remind you of God of War (2018) opening scene as you discover a couple of silver birch trees. There you see a glowing handprint and an axe on the bark of tree with some chains lying around nearby as well.

Then you head over to Blood-Stained Shrine, which clearly exudes Bloodborne vibes with raven feathers littered in it surrounding area. Jin will find some themed elements, items and mentions of player character "Hunter" through a riddle.

Visiting at Shrine of Shadow directs you towards Shadow of the Colossus and its hero Wanderer by their names. Once they are solved, each of these riddles will be unlocking unique armor sets to show off, inspired by iconic PlayStation IPs.

Shrine of Ash takes you back to early segments of God of War latest rebooted entry and has a riddle saying:

In fall, a tree fruits,
which grows from seed to sapling,
A stranger and son.
Boy, honour your father's fight
Show him the strength of your blade.

Walking over to Blood-Stained Shrine is a callback to 2005 action role-playing game speaking of blood and beasts.

The first green of spring
sickens to black, decaying,
plagued by blood and beast.
Hunter, reject death's allure.
Prepare to duel man's frailty.

When you reach to Shrine of Shadow, it puzzles you with a story of Wanderer with nods to "colossus" and "stone".

Stone knows no season,
nor the colossus that was
felled to save one soul.
Wanderer, come like through mist,
a ghost casting no shadow.

Sucker Punch Productions previously added themed skins of Bloodborne, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn and Shadow of the Colossus. These alternate DLC costumes were introduced via free multiplayer co-op, Legends mode last year.

Aside from Ghost of Tsushima core gameplay experience, Iki Island DLC adds about 10-15 hours of story featuring new enemies and quests. Players who own Director's Cut on PS5 can run it on 60 FPS in 4K and enjoy improved load times.
