PlayStation 5-Exclusive Marvel Multiplayer Game Reportedly in Works

For past few years, Marvel and Sony has been collaborating on several video game projects that became very successful. Marvel's Spider-Man has sold over 13 million copies and lead to a spin-off sequel Spider-Man: Miles Morales last year.

As they continue to venture together in exploring great opportunities, an industry insider claims that Sony is currently developing a new multiplayer game set within Marvel Universe, which is very much likely to be a PlayStation 5-exclusive.

During a recent podcast, XboxERA co-founder Shpeshal_Nick reveals that a Marvel multiplayer game is reportedly in works at Insomniac Games for PS5 but he avoids getting into details just to stay away from any possible fan-backlash.

Shpeshal_Nick received his latest scoop from a reliable source but advised people to take this with a grain of salt. Considering his previous track record of leaks and Marvel's partnership with Sony, latest rumor doesn't seem that far-fetched.

Sony could actually be developing another new project that is not publicly announced yet and will be revealed when they are ready. They previously pitched an idea for Marvel's Wolverine as Insomniac Games was working on Spider-Man.

Only interesting part of a newly rumored Marvel game is its multiplayer feature whereas Sony is overly concerned about making first-party exclusive titles for PlayStation consoles that are fully narrative-driven and third-person adventures.

Sony has recently shown interest in multiplayer experiences like Predator: Hunting Grounds by developer IllFonic and has signed an exclusive publishing partnership deal with Firewalk Studios to create an original IP focused on multiplayer.

Despite announcing Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine at PlayStation Showcase 2021 event earlier this month, Sony is slowly leaning towards online play while partnering up with Marvel on many exciting and exclusive future projects.
