With their most recent acquisition, Swedish media holding and video game company Embracer Group becomes a global gaming giant after buying out studios like Gearbox, Koch Media, Saber Interactive and Tarsier Studios in recent years.

After their latest takeover on Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montréal and a number of classic Square Enix IP catalogue, Embracer Group is currently planning to release a bunch of remakes, sequels and spin-offs to fully capitalize on these assets.

A recent earnings report, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors revealed potential plans to revive their recently purchased IPs. Announcement for Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montréal and popular titles' buyout was received overwhelmingly positively.

Embracer Group sees great potential for popular franchises Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, Thief and Tomb Raider sequels. Moreover, they can develop remakes, remasters, spin-offs and variety of other projects across numerous different media.

Wingefors expects their acquisition deal to close between July and September this year, which includes around 1,100 global employees. Embracer Group was impressed by Square Enix's rich portfolio and sees plenty of market opportunities.

Crystal Dynamics confirmed working on a new Tomb Raider game using Unreal Engine 5 earlier last month. According to Embracer report, Deus Ex franchise has sold around 12 million copies and Tomb Raider games were sold 88 million units.
