Dead by Daylight: Stranger Things Chapter DLC Out Now

Horrors of Upside Down has made it to Dead by Daylight in latest Stranger Things chapter DLC, out now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Always introducing new and interesting elements to asymmetric survival horror game Dead by Daylight, developer Behaviour Interactive and publisher 505 Games opted in for a crossover with Netflix sci-fi horror series Stranger Things.

This latest DLC chapter is already out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which includes a new killer, two survivors and a map location. Also, developers felt generous enough to kick-start a sale on all major platforms this week.

DBD is now having an 80's vibe with introduction of popular scary elements of Stranger Things into Entity's World. On its fourth year of content, more nightmare fuel is added to the mix to force survivors into facing new challenges.

Behaviour teamed up with online streaming giant Netflix to work on newest DLC chapter that includes monstrous Demogorgon creature, investigative reporter Nancy Wheeler and everyone's favorite big brother Steve Harrington.

Underground Complex of Hawkins National Laboratory will now become a killing ground for the supernatural hunter from an alternate dimension called Upside Down that Nancy and Steve will try to get away from at any cost.

Demogorgon is a humanoid monstrosity that is quick and brutal, who creates portals on ground or wall and travels through them to reach its prey. It's very presence changes surrounding environment and even affects nearby survivors.

Many aspects of the series are awfully similar to themes of DBD that nicely blended into its current lore and 1vs4 gameplay. Stranger Things chapter also breaks a trend by adding a non-human killer for the first time with two unique survivors.

Picking up only Nancy and Steve from many fan-favorite characters was tough but it was their survival skills that made them a perfect fit. Harrington is more resilient to take beating whereas Wheeler is good at scouting and stealthy approach.

PC version of the game is currently free for a week on Steam and you can then purchase it at 50% off until September 23, 2019. Players on console can have it at half price on PlayStation Store and $10.00 discount at Microsoft Store.

Dead by Daylight has debuted iconic psychotic killers like Freddy Krueger and Ghost Face in past but adding apex predator Demogorgon into the mix only teases possibility of bringing Aliens and Predator on board for upcoming hunting seasons.

Control DLC May Have Alan Wake Crossover

Recently revealed post-launch DLC content for Control may finally tie in to story of Alan Wake in 2020.

In a recent venture with publisher 505 Games, developer Remedy Entertainment has seen critical and commercial success with release of action-adventure game Control on PC via Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

According to their latest announcement for upcoming post-launch content roadmap for the game, two new expansions are revealed and one of them is clearly teasing a tie-in to 2010 supernatural horror universe of Alan Wake.

RELATED: Control Post-Launch Content Roadmap

Before Control, Finnish developer Remedy made a reputation with critically acclaimed psychological thriller title Alan Wake. Although there was a stand-alone follow-up title Alan Wake's American Nightmare, fans never got a true sequel.

Players have already found clues, documents and Easter eggs during their mind-bending exploration of Control that clearly points at events of Bright Falls from first Alan Wake game that was launched almost 10 years ago for Xbox 360.

Initially, it was an easily missable teaser image of Control's second expansion AWE but when Remedy creative director/writer Sam Lake shared that image on Twitter with a cryptic caption, many people starts noticing what was up.

RELATED: Resident Evil Project Resistance Gameplay Overview

A closer look at poster of AWE expansion reveals official box art of Alan Wake in top half of its lettering that sued fonts from the same game. In below half, protagonist Jesse Faden of Control is probably fighting Hiss at Federal Bureau of Control.

AWE can either stand for either "Alan Wake Experience" or Altered World Events and the latter one actually makes more sense. Remedy has also teased these references earlier in their 2016 sci-fi adventure shooter title Quantum Break.

Although both Alan Wake and Control are set on different plots, many hints suggest that they both are from same universe and maybe even the latter is some sort of continuation of events that took place in Washington forest a decade ago.

According to press release, AWE will arrive on mid-2020 and will send Jesse to investigations sector of Oldest House, a part where FBC keeps tabs on Altered World Events and Bright Falls' case was what the Bureau investigated earlier.

With every lead matching and pointing to each other, there could is a very good chance for a crossover event or even nothing at all. If not anything, it can very much help revive a beloved series once again by providing a great launch pad.

Through its ending, Control has set up possibilities for a potential sequel to expand further on lead character Jesse Faden's story and despite Remedy expressing to make Alan Wake 2, nothing can be said for sure until next year.

Control Post-Launch Content Roadmap

Remedy Entertainment reveals new Photo Mode and two expansions in post-launch content roadmap for Control.

In less than a month after release, latest action-adventure game Control from developer Remedy Entertainment and publisher 505 Games has become a smash-hit title on PC via Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

After receiving some community feedback, developers issued a performance update for the game on PS4 lately. Remedy has also shared their plans to introduce additional post-launch content until mid 2020 that even includes two expansions.

Although player on PC platform has already figure out their own way of mimicking Photo Mode, this much-requested feature is coming soon by fall 2019 to let people capture its artistic in-game world through amazing snapshots.

By December 2019, free end-game mode called Expeditions will arrive for Control that offers some toughest challenges from Oldest House, which sends protagonist Jesse Faden to help security chief Arish regarding the Foundation.

Next year, two paid expansion pack The Foundation and AWE are scheduled for early 2020 and middle of the year. New enemies, game mechanics and story missions will be introduced that takes part in yet to explore locations.

The Foundation takes Jesse deep into Federal Bureau of Control history for a mind-bending exploration at Oldest House. AWE will see her venturing into another part of FBC, known as investigations sector for more paranormal happenings.

Remedy also revealed that first expansion for the game will remain a timed exclusive for PS4 but second one will see launch on all platforms at once. PC and Xbox One players will get their hands on these DLCs after exclusivity period ran out.

Control Digital Deluxe Edition is already out on PlayStation Store right now to pre-order for $79.99 only, which comes with exclusive side mission, Season Pass and Urban Response Gear bonus outfit for Jesse, exclusively on PS4.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Cancelled

Skybound has terminated agreement with Starbreeze for OVERKILL's The Walking Dead as they failed to meet quality standards.

Despite having a lot of potential to become a blockbuster release, first-person shooter title OVERKILL's The Walking Dead from developer Overkill Studios failed miserably to become a decent co-op shooter experience that players can enjoy.

On top of that, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game were delayed twice now and the PC version on Steam wasn't getting any positive feedback due to a buggy launch. All hope is lost now that it has been cancelled entirely after quite a struggle for survival.

Loosely based on the fictional universe of The Walking Dead monthly comic-book series from Image Comics by creator Robert Kirkman (Haunt, Invincible), the game were to follow co-op gameplay mechanics of Payday: The Heist reportedly.

Initially, they announced the title on August 14, 2014 and showed some concepts at E3 2015. Then it was delayed in 2016, which repeated again in 2017 until Overkill Studios was able to show off the first-look gameplay footage at E3 2018.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead for Consoles Delayed Again

According to distribution plan, November 2018 was set as the release window for OTWD for all available major platforms but launch date for console versions was delayed to February 2019 and everything starts falling apart from that point.

When Sony started sending emails to pre-ordering customers of PSN, it became very apparent that console version of the game very well might have been canned but 505 Games confirmed it to be postponed shortly after that.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Missed Sales Targets

Skybound Entertainment, who is the license and rights owner of The Walking Dead property has took matter into their hands to publicly announce that they are terminating contract with Starbreeze Publishing and will discontinue all efforts regarding OTWD.

Skybound expressed their outright displeasure for the game not meeting the certain quality of standard they were assured by the Sweden-based developer studio and apologized to fans for not being able to provide premium quality content.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Gameplay Revealed

People were already pretty skeptical about the future of OTWD and looks like luck just ran out on this one. Earlier, Starbreeze even revealed their disappointment from initial sales number generated from PC version sales mostly due to many in-game issues.

Only if Overkill Studios would have taken proper care of the IP, the game could even become the spiritual successor of popular co-op shooter series Left 4 Dead. Anyways, OVERKILL's The Walking Dead is removed from Steam, while PS4 and Xbox One version would not see release either.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead for Consoles Postponed

After speculating cancellation for PS4 and Xbox One version of OVERKILL's The Walking Dead, the game is revealed to be postponed for now.

Although developer Overkill Software and publisher Starbreeze Publishing initially managed to make fans curious to their first-person shooter OVERKILL'S The Walking Dead, it saw a poor reception upon PC launch back in November 2018.

In August, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game were delayed to February 2019 but it got delayed again. Recently, it becomes apparent that console versions of OTWD have been cancelled, only for an official announcement to confirm later that it has been postponed.

Despite the game being a mess full of bugs on PC, many players on consoles were still waiting to get their hands on it but then one PS4 user who digitally pre-purchased it, shared screenshot of a PlayStation Store notice on Reddit, thinking the game has been cancelled.

The publisher has notified us that the game is cancelled. As a result, we have withdrawn the current pre-order from the PlayStation Store and will cancel all pre-orders. You will receive a refund to your original payment source within 5-7 business days.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Missed Sales Targets

Of course, no one would like to get notified about cancellation of a full-priced game that they pre-ordered online and some were patient to wait for 505 Games to respond since players on Xbox One platform did not receive any confirmation as such.

Shortly, console publisher of OTWD, 505 Games stated the true nature of the situation on Twitter to clear things out.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead for Consoles Delayed Again

Presented as a visually stunning product with a gripping co-op experience, it ultimately came out nothing as originally promised. What surprises us most is that, even after the anticipated zombie-shooter was an overall disaster, people still waited for console release anyway.

Not only OVERKILL's The Walking Dead was heavily criticized for a buggy release on PC, the game even missed their initial sales target. The disappointing run of the game has made the case of not pre-ordering any game by falling for their marketing campaign.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead for Consoles Delayed Again

Already delaying the launch date for PS4 or Xbox One version of OVERKILL's The Walking Dead to 2019, Starbreeze has now postponed the release.

Whenever a new media franchise based on The Walking Dead is in works, it causes an extra hype among fans and same was the case for first-person shooter OVERKILL'S The Walking Dead from developer Overkill Software and publisher Starbreeze Publishing.

However, things weren't quite good for them in overall as they had to delay the release date of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of the game while only the PC version came out in time, followed by a missed sales target. Now the launch date for console versions is delayed again.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Delayed for Consoles

Originally OTWD was scheduled to release on all three major platforms on November 6, 2018 but only the Windows version came out in due date and release for both Microsoft and Sony consoles got delayed to February 2019.

Without detailing much, Starbreeze has recently announced that they are currently evaluating performance of the game on consoles and it was just a brief news release for company investors, so we don't know about the specific reason behind the delay.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Missed Sales Targets

The project has a long history of delays following its initial announcement back in August 2014 through Payday 2 community page on Steam. They estimated a release date for January 2016 that got pushed to the next year and then November 2018 launch date saw another setback for this year.

Overkill's The Walking Dead is a co-op FPS title featuring four new characters named Aidan, Grant, Heather and Maya who work together to survive in a post-apocalypse Washington, D.C. from hordes of flesh-eating zombies and hostile marauders.

PlayStation Plus Free Games For January 2019

PlayStation Plus free games lineup has picked up Steep and Portal Knights for the month of January 2019.

Christmas is over and so is 2018. So, nearing the edge of the year, Sony Entertainment came up with new free games lineup that is coming soon in January 2019 for PlayStation Plus subscribers to celebrate the New Year.

We previously thought that the October 2018 lineup was bad with Friday the 13th: The Game and Laser League but last month, we changed our minds when we saw PS Plus including games like Soma or Onrush for November 2018, because that just made it worse.

Before taking a just jump at the upcoming PS Plus lineup, let's take a moment to look at the clip below showcasing all the titles for January 2019.

The first entry on the list is an extreme sports game Steep from developer/publisher Ubisoft that came out in 2016. The premise is set on the Alps and the massive open world environment it featured was inspired by Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

So, paraglide, ski, snowboard or wingsuit your way to a little excitement while exploring the most epic mountains throughout this winter season. Steep is mostly online-focused and you can bump into other players if you simply enable the "Collide Feature".

The next title to join the lineup is survival action RPG game Portal Knights from developer Keen Games and publisher 505 Games. The in-game characters have a LEGO-like appearance and you might even notice the gameplay has similarities with Minecraft but it still is a fun play.

The game has a cooperative multiplayer where you can team up with up to three of your friends other than wandering alone on your own and that is one of the delightful experience the game has to offer aside from other role-playing aspects.

Other free games PlayStation Plus lineup is offering for the month of January 2019 is still there and let's take a quick look at the list below.

  • Amplitude (PlayStation 3)
  • Fallen Legion: Flames of Rebellion (Cross Buy with PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4)
  • Super Mutant Alien Assault (PlayStation Vita)

If you are into free-to-play cooperative third-person shooter game Warframe, then developers from Digital Extremes studio has a gift for you and it is an exclusive PlayStation Plus Booster Pack III to jump right into it and get going.

This pack offers you 100 Platinum, 100,000 Credits, Corpus laser rifle Quanta, Quanta Obsidian Skin, 7-Day Affinity Booster and a 7-Day Credit Booster, which will be activated as soon as you login to the game but you have to claim it before January 15, 2019.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Missed Sales Targets

In an investor Q&A, Starbreeze Publishing has revealed that sales figure for OVERKILL's The Walking Dead is lower than expected.

Even though fans were eagerly waiting and had a wave of hype going for it, first-person shooter OVERKILL's The Walking Dead from developer Overkill Software and publisher Starbreeze Publishing is seeing disappointing number of sales initially.

After the PC edition of the game is launched earlier this month on November 8, players were not seem to be very interested to keep up with the title anymore and CFO of Starbreeze then reveals that the initial sales of OTWD is lower than what they originally expected.

In their recent sales reviewing Q&A, the publisher points out that the title missed the initial forecasted sales mark a week after its launch. PC version is doing poorly in the market because of lack of content as well as quality to be exact.

The title is heavily bashed on review-aggregation site Metacritic and many popular gaming sites for design issues, lame AI and connection problems, which is having an overall negative impact on the sales among other reasons.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Delayed for Consoles

Starbreeze didn't reveal the exact number of games sold but they already are in development of new content for Season 2, coming soon. Of course, it is too early to predict whether the game is a success or a failure, the studio believes OTWD is off to a good start.

In this desperate time of financial challenges, the publisher is now focusing on lowering their cost of business operations to save up a considerable amount to run things around. An internal review is ongoing to process that but no specifics were given on that yet.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Introduces Heather

Also, the delay of the release for console versions of the game means, the $10 million licensing fee Starbreeze was about to receive from 505 Games this quarter to bring the title to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is delayed to February.

The 2019 console release can turn the financial balance to a slightly favorable position but despite all of the issues mentioned above, the developers and publishers are still okay with releasing the game in its current state only shows that how much they actually care for the players or the game itself.

RELATED: OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Introduces Grant

Given their current base of concurrent players, the studio should improve the gameplay framework and performance for a better experience if they really want to follow Games as a Service concept for the foreseeable future. Or perhaps they should go for a better monetization model that works.

Although many were comparing the co-op shooter to another survival horror game Left 4 Dead from the same genre, OVERKILL's The Walking Dead is probably not even worth the same standard of a title based on The Walking Dead franchise at all.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Delayed for Consoles

At Gamescom 2018, Starbreeze Studios has announced that OVERKILL's The Walking Dead will be delayed to 2019 for consoles.

During the E3 2018 press conference, developer studio Overkill Software have made a great impact on the eager fans with a gameplay reveal trailer right after they released a series of trailers to introduce all playable characters of the game. It had a scheduled release window of November 6 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but according to a recent announcement, except for the Windows version, launching date for console versions have been delayed to February 2019.

For long, the project has been in a confusing state on development but then it all started to sort down for good earlier this year. Players were very pleased with the first look of gameplay and wanting for more, which also created huge waiting lines at Gamescom 2018 to experience the game. Apparently, publisher 505 Games holds the publishing rights of consoles have decided to make this unexpected delay but Starbreeze Studios decided to stay with their original release date on PC.

RELATED: Overkill's The Walking Dead Introduces Grant

Their stated reason for postponing the launch on PS4 and Xbox One is to guarantee concurrent release on digital platforms and stores to ensure maximized sales. So, until console owners can join in hunting down walkers next year, players on PC will have to get through the outbreak alone. If the title initially manages to get favorable reviews, it will spike interest of players on other platform but if it fails to impress, then another anticipating audience base will lost their overall hype.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Gameplay Revealed

The first gameplay trailer Overkill's The Walking Dead co-op shooter gives a better idea of how the game will be like.

Based on The Walking Dead comic-book series from Image Comics by creator Robert Kirkman (Battle Pope, Haunt), OVERKILL's The Walking Dead game is an upcoming co-op FPS that has already showcased four of its playable characters with their unique back-stories that has hardened them into the toughest survivors in a post-apocalyptic world. The studio that worked on games like Payday 2 has been working on this project for some time and during E3 2018, they revealed a gameplay trailer.

Belonging to one of the many E3 2018 games, OTWD revealed a gameplay footage displaying our protagonists at work and how they thrive as a group.

The trailer opens up with a cinematic CGI and then going back and forth into brief playing moments where players run into a horde of walkers. With an expert melee attacker, one medic, a sniper and scavenger in a crowd of four, Overkill sets up a team play for survival. Teamwork will be essential to stay alive for the characters in Washington D.C. now overrun with zombies. Although they made it pretty clear about building a game with different tone, a more detailed gameplay would have been much appreciated.

After building much anticipation from fans for the past few months, developers finally gave us a much expected look at the in-game demo of how it looks like for a band of zombie-apocalypse survivors fighting against all sort of odds. While exploring walkers infested areas, emphasis on stealth would be pretty high for the survival of you and your teammates. The fact that many speculating OTWD will turn out to be just another Left 4 Dead is wrong but we are sure that the developers will be flattered by this comparison.

The fourth character in upcoming Overkill's The Walking Dead, Heather is here and you would not want to cross her.

Now that Season 8 of The Walking Dead TV series is over, we are out of our TWD fun-dose again. Developer Overkill Studios has been working on a co-op shooter game based on the same universe but it will be nothing like the zombie series on AMC. Except for the fact that these are both inspired from the works of comic-book writer Robert Kirkman (Battle Pope, Haunt) published by Image Comics. We are in for a new trailer that introduces a new character from the game.

The brand-new zombie-apocalypse survivor Heather marks her debut in the character reveal trailer from the upcoming Walking Dead game.

Heather is seen scavenging with a shopping cart inside an abandoned store and a zombie was gawking at her from outside. A shot is fired that took down the walker and three strangers enter the store apparently looking for her. When the female of that group attacks her upon spotting, she tackled and then took out another before smashing her previous attacker on a glass of the nearby freezer that slashed the woman's throat. She then shot her second attacker before a bottle smashes on her head by the third.

What's most impressive about her is that not only she can take care of her when she is outnumbered; she took some beating like a champ. Later, when the two of them were spreading her supplies among them, she came back and locked up the gate in front of the alley before attracting a horde by shooting a flare. When the guy who knocked he asks for key, she stubbornly kept asking for her bag until he gives up. She then leaves them to chance by dropping the key outside of the gate

Heather happens to be the fourth playable character and judging by her traits, we guess that her forte is scavenging. Three other players are introduced before her and among them Aiden seems like an expert in melee, Maya is definitely a medic and Grant is a sniper. Together, these tough leading characters will fight zombie swarms and build base for survival. We are expecting another trailer that showcases an event which brings all three survivors to band together to fight for their lives.

Awaiting an official release date for fall 2018, upcoming co-op shooter Overkill’s The Walking Dead is set to release for playing on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Both Overkill and Starbreeze Studios has been collaborating for this project with Kirkman’s company Skybound. Much like a possible real-life scenario, the game teaches you that by working together, you might have a shot at surviving but if you choose to fly solo, you won't probably last for long. Implementing that aspect in the game will surely make it interesting.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Introduces Grant

We just finished watching The Walking Dead Season 8 on AMC and just about then developer Overkill Studios dropped a trailer for their second playable character Maya. Exactly one month after, they have released another brand-new clip on the third character Grant from their upcoming co-op shooter Overkill’s The Walking Dead. Since this is an introduction of this character, we are not getting any glimpse of gameplay or whatsoever but we hope that very soon we will get that too.

Watch out for Grant, a zombie-apocalypse survivor trying to make his way among the undeads in his old days in this cinematic trailer.

The trailer starts with a survivor of the outbreak who is in his late 60's, traveling on a freeway of Washington D.C. in rain. He takes sniper rifle off his shoulder to point at a car and then took a seat inside it. In glove compartment, he finds a bottle of whiskey along with a photograph of a young girl in costume, which reminded him of his own granddaughter who loved playing dress up and probably is missing now. As he talks about her, we see a jawless and mutilated walker sitting on driver's seat.

Grant gets comfy with his fellow biter and continued his tale while rain pours in as well as more walkers came roaming. When his fellow passenger impatiently tries to reach at him, old man Grant finally takes his gun out and shoots him in the face, attracting all nearby walkers towards his position but he rarely even flinched. His dark sense of humor and a calm attitude towards this new world is sure establishes him as a tough cookie. He probably has seen a lot and this is just not the end for him yet.

As a four-player co-op first person shooter Overkill’s The Walking Dead will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in later 2018. Each four of them having different back-stories and skill set, will be taking part in completing missions in nearby areas of Washington D.C. Originally, this title was about to release back in 2016 but because of various circumstances, the studio eventually kept pushing back the dates. It's a good thing that their development is up and running again to finish this project.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Introduces Aidan

Comic-book writer Robert Kirkman (Haunt, Invincible) has been writing The Walking Dead series for Image Comics from long before it was a hit. So far, Telltale’s The Walking Dead series has done pretty good job in capturing the mode of the series in its own world but even that is coming to an end in 2018. Looks like, it would be a good time for Overkill Studios to bring their long delayed video game based on The Walking Dead.

They've been pretty busy lately with another of their project, which is the Payday series and The Walking Dead game they started with is still under development. However, by the recent look of things, it seems that Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment will be collaborating with Overkill for the game and they even released a new video.

Check out this trailer introducing Aidan, one of the four characters who will be part of this zombie apocalypse survival struggle.

This one is the first trailer among more to come that introduces a character named Aidan, who is a stressed business personnel currently settled in Washington D.C. As he was already struggling through all the responsibilities of life on his shoulder, shit just hit the fan and a zombie outbreak collapses civilization. He was caught in the middle of this apocalypse and turned out to be the sole survivor among many. Aidan gets out from the corpses lying around and draws out more to face them with a nailed baseball bat.

The game is going to be a four player co-op first person shooter and the characters will operate in the surroundings of Washington D.C. Each of these playable four characters is skilled in particular abilities and each has a different backstory. Based on their skill tree, some will be efficient in gunning down incoming wave of walkers and some might be good with going silent and deadly with a knife. As we see Aidan sport-fully wielding that baseball bat at the end of the trailer, chances are, he is melee character.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead will come out at some time in 2018 to play on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There will be multiple missions and raids to gather supplies and recruit survivors to strengthen your own base. So, that next time you stay prepared when there is an attack or horde of walkers decides to pay a visit.
