Fortnite: Save the World October 2019 Roadmap

Epic Games teases most challenging battle ever coming to upcoming roadmap for Fortnite: Save the World.

From the period of its inception, people are so caught up with free-to-play online shooter Fortnite Battle Royale that they often forget about original "Save the World" game mode of Fortnite cooperative shooter-survival game.

While developer/publisher Epic Games was pretty busy pulling their biggest marketing stunt for official reveal of Fortnite Chapter 2, they clearly didn't forget about where it all began and has released a new roadmap for STW recently.

In coming weeks, version 11 update will bring in a number of significant changes from October 15. Since we are on Halloween month and players can definitely look forward to some themed event Fortnitemares by the end of October.

Players who are away from keyboard will be kicked off from sessions much sooner than before. Those who contribute less in objectives will receive lesser rewards compared to other teammates who actually are doing their part.

Players should beware as following content update V11.20, Mythic Storm King will return for some epic boss fight. There will be new challenges, gameplay mechanics and enrage timer to make your battles most difficult in STW mode.

However, those who are brave enough to take on this challenge can earn exclusive weapons of Storm King. They will unlock special behaviors, let you shoot projectiles, charge laser blasts and even summon meteors on Husk enemies.

When Fortnite Battle Royale map and everything else was sucked into a black hole, Save the World also became unavailable to digital storefronts but now that Fortnite Chapter 2 is kick-started, STW got its relaunch as well.

Although there was rumors earlier that Fortnite: Save the World may go free-to-play like battle royale mode but so far, no noticeable change made by Epic Games in upcoming roadmap suggests that is a possibility for rest of 2019 at least.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Update Live Now

With new map, new guns, new boats and gameplay changes, Epic Games officially launched Fortnite Chapter 2.

A short while ago, free-to-play battle royale game Fortnite was sucked into a black hole at the end of Season 10 and though many have panicked, it came back brandishing a completely new look with Fortnite Chapter 2 update.

Not only Fortnite Battle Royale has gotten a brand-new map, developer/publisher Epic Games have made a complete overhaul of gameplay, progression and adding feature like fishing for latest Chapter 2, Season 1 or Season 11.

Their most recent patch has brought players to an all-new island to explore various locations and engage in water-based activities alongside experiencing regular chores like shooting your rivals down and then celebrate victory with emotes.

There is water in several points of new map where players can dive boats or even swim through but can't dive under though. A couple of new location spots have been added but you can also notice a few ones returning from old map.

For taking quick cover during a firefight, you can hide in small haystacks or dumpsters and help you downed teammates by carrying them out. Fortnite has gone through some changes on weapons category as well while adding some new ones.

Many old favorites like Assault Rifles, Bolt-Action Sniper and Pump Shotguns are back in both Epic and Legendary rarities. Some usual battle royale items and weapons like Bouncer, Revolver and Slurp Juice are vaulted after newest Season update.

Rather than handing out Patch Notes for all, Epic Games dropped their current Season update for their players to figure out. Aside from obvious changes like a lighthouse, mountain region and power plant, there are much more to discover.

After a complete server take down, Fortnite Battle Royale has returned stealing headlines once again by launching new content and most importantly, adjusting for player progression through making changes in Battle Pass and XP gains.

Fortnite Season 10 Ends With a Bang!

End of Season 10 took battle royale sensation Fortnite down with a black hole event and goes totally offline.

Ever since its inception back in 2017, developer/publisher Epic Games has been successfully running seasons after new seasons of their free-to-play battle royale game Fortnite and Season 10 being their most recent one.

Following launch back in August 2019, tenth season of Fortnite Battle Royale quickly became its most-watched event ever. It has ended lately after disappearing into a black hole and causing total blackout by going completely offline.

Nearing end of Season 3, a mysterious alien known as the Visitor arrived on battle royale island of Fortnite in 2018. After causing a number of catastrophes over a year and so, a rocket was set on top of Dusty Depot by the Visitor.

That rocket has recently launched when current season was about to end and it exploded into a couple of pieces. A giant rift is created that sucked everything on the island into it including players before getting lost into nothingness.

Season X was the biggest ever event that Epic Games hosted for their popular multiplayer shooter. Players were hinted that something big was about to happen nearing end and then everything else were sucked into a black hole.

Fortnite is currently offline and its in-game lobby is a black screen same as their official Twitch and YouTube channels. Though there were no potential sign of the game getting shut down for good, some fans are panicking in sudden blackout.

RELATED: Vigor Update 1.1: Bridges Live Now

Games are usually taken down for server maintenance and put back up after a few hours to let everyone back at playing. However, Fortnite purposefully went offline for a reason and millions of players are eagerly waiting to see what happens.

Millions of fans are still watching over streams on Mixer, Twitch and YouTube in anticipation of some sort of epic reveal. No one seems to know exactly what to expect from this and developers are just taking time to unveil their big secret.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Special Ops Trailer

Apparently, Fortnite: Chapter 2 was been leaked earlier via Italian iOS App Store that features a brand-new map. Rather than being a sequel to original free-to-play shooter, Epic Games may just reopen the game with new characters and gameplay.

If anything from these leaks is true then Fortnite is likely to head to a complete new direction, probably with a new story. Therefore, "Chapter 2 – Season 1" makes a lot of sense instead of Season 11 when it will be revealed on October 14.

What does Fortnite Battle Royale and Batman have in common? Well, actually nothing! Yet there is an event going on to celebrate 80th anniversary of the Caped Crusader first appearing in pages of Detective Comics #27 back in May 1939.

Of course, Fortnite will introduce some Batman-themed items like Caped Crusader Pack that includes cosmetic items and weapons. Also there are free rewards for challenges and available in item shop is Catwoman Comic Book Outfit.

Epic Games added two outfits for Batman; one seems to be traditional gray-blue design from New 52 comics and another is from Batman Begins. One of your in-game rewards will be a Catwing Glider, which can only remain till October 1.

Newest weapons additions for players are a Batman Grapnel Gun and Explosive Batarangs to throw at. You can deploy gliders for unlimited times while flying through Gotham City but Grapnel Gun is 10-shot only and only work on solid surface.

Epic Games may even attempt to sneak in some clue for where upcoming Season 11 is headed to. So, wear the iconic cape and cowl to go out saving Gotham City riding a Bat-glider before Fortnite X Batman limited time crossover ends.

Baba Yaga steps into battle royale and bounty hunters are on his tail in Fortnite X John Wick limited time mode "Wick's Bounty".

Although online battle royale game Fortnite mostly gained popularity among masses because of its free-to-play economy, it had some major crossover events with big-name franchises like Avengers that only gave it a signal boost.

In their recent arrangement, developer/publisher Epic Games have launched a limited time mode for Fortnite Battle Royale titled "Wick's Bounty" that invites everyone's favorite deadly assassin John Wick, nicknamed "Baba Yaga".

What many have been pointing out upon launch of Wick's Bounty is that Fortnite always had a bearded character wearing suit, which pretty much akin to Mr. Wick and players even refer him to as "John Wick" since the beginning.

Epic Games probably wanted their own version of Baba Yaga back then and designed the real John Wick to be more serious-looking than his cartoonish and less cool counterpart to help people differentiate between them.

Without a doubt, developer/publisher Epic Games made a phenomenon of their free-to-play online battle royale mode of sandbox survival game Fortnite that has been dropping new seasons and hosting events for its players on a regular basis.

Following a very successful crossover event with Avengers: Infinity War movie from last year, Epic Games has decided to continue with another limited time event lately for the most anticipated movie of 2019, Avengers: Endgame.

Epic Games Store Announced

Launching as a competitor to Steam, Epic Games announced to start their own digital storefront Epic Games Store.

Whether you have been indulged into the Battle Royale mania with free-to-play title Fortnite or not you probably must have heard of developer/publisher Epic Games. Amassing a staggering number of 125 million worldwide in less than a year, they have scored big time!

After winning over the gaming world with a phenomenon game lately, Epic Games is currently focusing on a major online game distribution platform of their own, which would be a competitor to Steam, a prominent digital storefront of Valve Corporation.

This is not something that Epic has jump on board with and in fact, they have been developing launcher for their own game compatible for Mac and PC that supports a digital commerce worldwide by handling several different payment methods.

So, to get into a direct relationship with players and help all developers, Epic Games Store will be launched soon. Though their initial plan only includes platforms like Mac and PC, there are plans for expanding to Android and other open platforms for a broader reach by 2019.

Epic will open up with a hand full of curated games and then will expand their collection as they progress. People can either purchase the game from the store or just access it with Epic Games launcher but everything else will be handled through the application.

Current Fortnite players are already considered as users of their launcher and Epic Games decided to make their game exclusively available to their digital store. This is a practice that would be continued for the foreseeable future.

The biggest perk of the platform is that it offers a more flattering revenue split with developers than Steam or any other. Moving aside from the standard 70/30 revenue split, Epic Games Store is considering giving developers 88 percent of the revenue for the games.

It that is not sounding crazy enough, developers won't have to pay up the 5 percent engine royalty for using Unreal Engine to create the game. Epic will cover for that 5% of extra charge from their small margin on a total of 12%.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney believes that business for digital storefronts have grown quite exponentially over the decade but the economies revolving around it has not benefited the developers much for years; especially indie developers.

Aside from that, Epic also launched Support-A-Creator program recently that will hook up content creators from YouTube, streamers on Twitch, video game Bloggers and such with developers to help them share revenue for affiliate marketing. That's so EPIC!

Consumers of the store will be handed out at least one free game after every two weeks throughout 2019 and they will cover the fees of those releases on behalf of the developers, so they don't miss out or lose money over this.

Epic Games can easily become a digital distribution platform giant in no time if they stay true to their plan of incentives and promises to share more details about their plans regarding the store this Thursday, on December 6 at The Game Awards 2018.

Fortnite Cross-Play Beta Launched on PS4

Sony is finally bringing a beta cross-platform feature to PS4 today with free-to-play game Fortnite.

For long Sony had this weird arrogance of not allowing cross-platform play with Microsoft and Nintendo console owners. Even after being relentlessly ridiculed by gamers from all around the world about it, they had been maintaining their stubborn take on cross-play.

However, their policy has been reversed for good and today they announced of launching a Fortnite cross-platform beta. Now players owning a PlayStation 4 console can jump into adventure with fellow brethrens over Nintendo Switch, PC and Xbox One.

Back in June, when a version of Fortnite Battle Royale was released for Switch, players quickly discovered that their Epic Games account linked with PlayStation are being restricted to use, which has disappointed many and created a huge controversy overnight.

Although Sony initially apologized and promised to work on a solution but as time went by, it became very clear that they are not going to do anything about it. It even led to fall in their stock price while they took heat on social media.

However, they have finally come forward to take a step toward the future for better by allowing a beta for cross-platform play with Epic Games' massively popular multiplayer title across Android, iOS, Mac, PC, Switch and Xbox One.

For a time being, they will be testing technical aspects and will allow this feature to more select third party content eventually. For the sake of providing a better gaming experience for everyone, Sony is making a change to their policy and we believe people will appreciate it.

On their official Blog, President and Global CEO of PlayStation, John Kodera have stated the following regarding their cross-play initiative.

We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective.

This may very well turn the tide of things and a huge turning point for the industry as they gave up their economic concerns. They were even scorned by publisher studio Bethesda for their backward perspective over things a few months back.

However, we must not lose sight that how they specifically mentioned about introducing the concept to more third party content soon but only to the ones "selected", which leaves more room for disappointment in the foreseeable future.

Shortly ahead of its anticipating launch, developer/publisher Epic Games have come forward to announce an official release date for Fortnite Season 5 through a teasing Tweet today. We know now that the newest season of the insanely popular free-to-play Battle Royale game available for all platforms, is only a few days away and this was really nice of them to finally confirm the date which we knew earlier from this month to be July 12, following the end of a thriving Season 4.

Speaking of tease, aside from making the announcement for their next season in the Tweet, developers have left another hint, which is a mask from a crack on screen and is going to break out in-game anytime. Like always, theorist fans are coming up with different ideas and booming up online with suggestions regarding the mask. It looks similar to kitsune or fox in Japanese, which shape-shifts into diverse forms and has supernatural powers according to Japanese yokai folklore.

We are in no position of making any solid meaning of the subtle clue left by Epic Games but this marks to be the first time Japan has been referenced in the game so far. Players have already ventured through history of ancient Egypt, pirate anchors and wooden carriages so far. Possibly themes of Ancient Japan might be explored or there are even chances for a time-travel. At this point, we are just spit balling and waiting for three more days to know what is waiting ahead of us all.

Since that case has been dropped afterwards, Epic Games is fully back on track with newest Season for their most successful game ever.

PUBG Corp. Drops Lawsuit Against Epic Games

PUBG Corporation has just dropped their copyright violation lawsuit against Epic Games over Fortnite Battle Royale.

Ever since developers Epic Games have added a "Battle Royale" mode to their sandbox survival game Fortnite, it was obvious that where they took the inspiration from because it was quite on the nose. Then developers of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, PUBG Corporation eventually called them out for straight out copying their idea. Then earlier this year, PUBG owners have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against their rival company, which is dropped after months of debacle over it.

An injunction against Epic Games was filed by the accuser back in January for supposed copyright violation stating the game in question is creating a similar gaming experience for players like PUBG. Now, dropping the case can be for several reasons and both of these game developing companies are partially owned by Tencent Holdings might be one of them. Also, PUBG uses the same Unreal Engine made by Epic Games and that makes it even complicated than it already is.

Initially, Fortnite was struggling with their "Save the World" mode until they decided to introduce a PvP mode that is very much akin to last-man-standing shooter PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, published by Korea-based publisher Bluehole. Although no official statement on this sudden setback is not yet revealed but they might have reached over some settlement that caused the withdrawal of the copyright lawsuit over online battle royale game of their competitor.

People like to play Battle Royale games and there is no denying of it but the way whole gaming industry has been on its tail, it seems a bit of stretch now when big-name titles like Battlefield V and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 announces of having the same mode to their game. Because of their practice of accuse similar games and taking legal action over them, followers trolled them on Twitter when it welcomed Battlefield series to the club by hinting another lawsuit filing maybe on its way.

PUBG is already suffering from a loss of player count for some time despite recently crossing the milestone of selling 50 million units of the game. They completely screwed up the players who supported the game from a primitive stage by not fixing the glitches but heavily focusing on DLC and loot boxes. Whereas, for their free-to-play nature, Fortnite Battle Royale didn't just gained huge popularity but also made a good buck from selling cosmetic items through micro-transactions.

Fortnite Is Coming to Nintendo Switch

The biggest games in the world, Fortnite may be coming to the fastest growing Nintendo console.

Only a day before, we've learnt from a leak that popular Battle Royale shooter Fortnite is coming to Nintendo Switch virtual console. The leaked image showing a list of unannounced games for Switch showed up on image-board site 4chan. Recently, Game Content Rating Classification Committee of South Korea have rated a Switch version of the game, which definitely means it is not a hoax and will probably be announced on Nintendo's E3 2018 Nintendo Direct.

A number of upcoming Switch ports were on that list, which a guy working on showroom displays for E3 2018 apparently took a picture of and then leaked it to the image-board forum site earlier. To be honest, it looks legit than most fake leaks out there. If that booth layout is genuine then Dragon Ball FighterZ from Bandai Namco, FIFA 19, arcade-hit title Killer Queen Black, party cooking game Overcooked! 2, free-to-play shooter Paladins from Hi-Rez Studios and Starlink: Battle for Atlas from Ubisoft is also on their way to Switch.

Aside from reigning as the most-played multiplayer game, Fortnite Battle Royale has received recognition from mainstream media when rapper Drake decided to join for a game. It was only a matter of time that this massive franchise now has joined Nintendo Switch to create more hype.

Fortnite has been creating a lot of buzz recently and after debuting on Mac and PC, they even hit both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. It's been only a short while that they have launched on iOS, with an Android release expecting to land this summer. It even managed to leave its biggest and primary competitor PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds behind by a huge number, whether it is on popularity, current player count or even revenue stream from various media.

After the game successfully lands on Switch, it will truly triumph over every major platform. Aside from this popular Battle Royale game, there were a few other big-name E3 2018 games listed from third-party developers for Nintendo Switch virtual console. Bandai Namco's Dragon Ball FighterZ tops the list, then came football simulator FIFA 19, one popular arcade title re-branded as Killer Queen Black, party cooking game Overcooked! 2, another free-to-play shooter Paladins and action-adventure Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

We did not include the name of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on the list above for obvious reason as it was already announced earlier this month. Mario Tennis Aces is seemingly the only first party game from this leak that Nintendo is bringing on E3, which is quite unusual. Since there is no other Battle Boyale games currently on Switch port, Epic Games has made a well devised move to seize momentum on this trendy platform and score a big time competition here!

PUBG Corp Suing Epic Games for Copyright

Developers of Fortnite have been accused of copying from rival title PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

After throwing accusations for copying their game, developer studio PUBG Corporation has finally filed a lawsuit against Epic Games for copyright infringement. PUBG Corp is a subsidiary for Korea-based publisher Bluehole that is responsible for multiplayer online battle royale game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Although PUBG has introduced the concept of last-man-standing shooter in video games, their main competitor Fortnite is currently ruling everywhere!

This is not the first time the accuser has claimed for their designs or intellectual property being copied by Epic Games for their Fortnite Battle Royale, which eventually became more popular. Back in January, the company filed an injunction against Epic Games Korea for supposed copyright violation. The accused company has not made any comment on the lawsuit yet and Seoul Central District Court will decide whether or not they have copied aspects from PUBG.

Both Fortnite and PUBG have millions of players engaged in online multiplayer battles these days. Originally inspired from a Japanese thriller film Battle Royale, PUBG debuted in March 2017 on Steam's Early Access before being fully released on December, 2017 for PC and Xbox One. Then Fortnite's Battle Royale mode was released by Epic Games in September when their "Free The World" PvE mode was constantly failing to get any footing or recognition.

Because of their free-to-play nature, it soon gained huge popularity and a massive fan-following, which their rival game was lacking. They were also making some sweet cash out of micro-transaction for cosmetic items. While Fortnite was breaking into mainstream media with guest appearance from rapper Drake or having a timed crossover event on the release of Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds was slowly dying for their compatibility problem, lack of optimization and loads of bugs.

Despite sharing traits like dropping 100 players into a selected map to survive till the last person or a team, Fortnite also pushes you to build fort and craft various items for better defense, which is completely absent in PUBG. Although, they have no problem with Epic Games adapting a Battle Royale mode for their game, PUBG Corp is concerned with Fortnite trying to repeat what they did to deliver similar experience to players and they already pay a huge buck to them as royalties for using Unreal Engine 4.

Considering those above mentioned points, it really seems very inconsiderate for Epic to using intellectual properties of their client. Since, Fortnite Battle Royale is free-to-play, PUBG is currently struggling to even retain their spot on the competition. However, people will still abandon the game if they do not prioritize fixing tons of existing problems their community has been complaining about from the very beginning.
