Valve reveals first official trailer of Half-Life: Alyx, a flagship VR-exclusive title set to release on 2020.

Although players are not getting their hands on much-anticipated Half-Life 3 anytime soon, Valve Corporation has recently promised to come up with a title set within known universe, which is a prequel to Half-Life 2.

Earlier, Valve announced to reveal their upcoming flagship VR game titled Half-Life: Alyx on 21st anniversary of their beloved franchise, which takes place between two of its mainline releases and scheduled to come out in March 2020.

A returning character and series favorite Alyx Vance will be starring in this VR-exclusive Half-Life prequel game in lead role. Alyx has debuted back in HL2 as a major NPC and came to be a close ally to series protagonist Dr. Gordon Freeman.

It has not been long since Seven-Hour War ended and people are living under their rule from a flying fortress known as Citadel. A revolution among neighborhood is sparked and they are trying to fend off invading force every day.

Throughout entire trailer, Alyx Vance is seen fending herself off from hostile creatures or being hunted down by tactically equipped Overwatch Soldiers. Under their nose, she and her cohorts are trying to steal some sort of game-changing weapon.

Together with her father and scientist Dr. Eli Vance, she is fighting for human resistance against an alien race called the Combine. Moving to City 17 of occupied Earth, they are working on finding out weakness of the enemy.

She apparently has similar functionality of Gravity Gun in her gloves now, which she uses to interact with her surroundings and grab objects. Among many of returning enemies and extraterrestrials, Headcrabs are back again.

Nearing the end of trailer, mysterious G-Man makes his iconic return for a cameo and probably has an answer to where Gordon Freeman is kept. Or probably, he is here to act as an overseer and lead Alyx to save her captive father.

On launch, Half-Life prequel will run compatibly with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, Windows Mixed Reality and Valve Index headsets. Owners of latter virtual reality device will receive free copy of the game and extra content.

Any VR set hooked to a computer is good enough to work with Steam VR and player experience will vary because of them. A full-length game is built from ground up to let players enjoy full range of an interactive gameplay system.

What has shown so far in a brief trailer, Half-Life: Alyx looks unlike any title available in VR and boasts an absolutely amazing graphics. We can now hope more than ever for things to lead to an eventual return of Gordon Freeman.
