THQ Brings Nickelodeon Games to Consoles

Back in the days, developer and publisher studio THQ Nordic used to be the house of cool games like Darksiders and Darksiders II that created successful franchise and dedicated fans. Needless to say that those golden days are gone and the studio is literally thriving in competition with all the AAA video game titles in the market. So, THQ is desperately in need for a boost and they came up with a great idea recently, which might actually help them.

The developers are apparently on an "asset care" strategy and as part of that plan; they are bringing more than a dozens of Nickoldeon games they have worked on previously for modern-day consoles. Some of these fan-favorite games are more than two decades old and a total of 16 games from the PlayStation 2-era are going to be revived. This new partnership with Nickelodeon maybe what the studio needed right now to make a comeback after so long.

Except for the name of franchises, THQ Nordic has yet to reveal the specific titles on their re-mastering list. Primarily, popular series like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Fairly OddParents, Invader Zim and SpongeBob SquarePants are picked for their re-releasing program. Among these games, The Fairly OddParents are only for US release for now according to sources. We just can't wait for them to drop these games to take us back in time to rediscover the fun once again.

THQ Remastered Projects

Reviving these older properties for a new generation of audience was a great move for the company. Their action-adventure game Darksiders was also remastered and they planned to go ahead with Destroy All Humans! Before THQ went bankrupt in 2013, they had the Nickelodeon license and it was re-acquired by Nordic Games as they bought THQ only a year after. We are pretty certain that they will reveal more games for this initiative in the upcoming days.

Rather than going for brand-new titles at this moment, reviving several of their licensed Nickelodeon properties for the ever-growing market of next-gen consoles seems like a great strategy indeed. That being said, THQ Nordic already has Darksiders III in the development and expected to release very soon. So, looks like they are trying to balance the scale the way they can and just keeping a slow pace at it.
