Blizzard Hints Diablo for Nintendo Switch

Blizzard Entertainment has been re-working with their old video game titles lately, following which, they just made StarCraft free to play and there is a rumor for Warcraft III Remastered Edition. Fans of the developer were wondering when would they do something about one of their most celebrated action role-playing game series, Diablo. By the apparent look of things, we are assuming that time has finally come.

It all started with a cryptic Tweet from Blizzard saying “Sweet dreams.” while showing a Diablo, the Lord of Terror-shaped nightlight switched on and off.



Fans and followers of didn't take much time interpreting this as a tease to the news of Blizzard's dungeon crawler action RPG title Diablo heading to Nintendo Switch. To be frank, it wasn't that hard clue to figure out anyway!

Though any Blizzard Entertainment spokesperson has not came clear about the act yet and no announcement of any sort were made, we can at least hope that the game may come to Nintendo Switch at some point. Well, careful marketing plans of the corporate doesn't usually let the public relations reveal anything in advance of their pre-planned schedule and Blizzard is just cleverly playing that same game.

The last installment of the series, Diablo III was released back in 2012, which is close to six years ago. Then in 2013, the game was brought to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platform. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One also received it next in 2014. PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X enhanced update was also dropped. Till date, Blizzard is still quite active with the project as the annual Darkening of Tristram event was just held in January 2018.

However, even though Blizzard has enough good reasons to be interested for bringing Diablo III to Switch, we still cannot be very sure about any of their moves. Because prior to the reveal of Nintendo Switch in 2016, Blizzard had posted the following Tweet and led many to float in the bubble of speculation.



Everyone who saw that Tweet thought that Blizzard is probably bringing their free-to-play online collectible card game Hearthstone for Switch but we are now in 2018 and the developers have not made any single buzz about that in the past two years.

Since every other major game developer are bringing their prize titles to Nintendo's next generation console these days, it would be quite fitting to port Diablo on Switch. Games like Batman: The Telltale Series, Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2, Doom, Mercenaries Saga Chronicles, Payday 2 and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus has already marched their way to the port. So, it will be a shame to see Diablo III left behind in the revolution just like Hearthstone.
