The Last of Us Hits 17 Million Sales

Sony Interactive Entertainment has sold more than 17 million copies of The Last of Us game on PS3 and PS4.

With everyone hyping over developer Naughty Dog's upcoming action-adventure survival horror game The Last of Us Part II with its amazing gameplay reveal at E3 2018, the studio reminded us why they’re making a sequel to the critically acclaimed original.

On the 5th anniversary of The Last of Us' release, their official Twitter account revealed that publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment have sold over 17 million copies of the game till April 2018 on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Although, they had the data regarding units sold to their hands back in April, the studio probably waited for the fifth anniversary of the game’s debut to come and then make it public. The game was released on June 14, 2013 for PS3 and 13 months after it came out, Sony has already sold 7 million copies of it.

A PS4 version, The Last of Us Remastered is released on July 2014, which saw 1 million units sold in just a month and mounted a total of 8 million copies of the game.

It terms of sales, The Last of Us had a pretty good run by selling nearly close to 10 million copies in a year after it saw release. When the game was ported to PlayStation 4, it saw another surge on stores for the game.

It became so popular that Sony even announced a new PlayStation 4 bundle that offered The Last of Us Remastered with it back in 2015. Game director Neil Druckmann surely did an awesome job creating a compelling story of Joel and Ellie's unforgettable journey in such a dark and gritty world.
