League of Legends May Come to Mobile

Riot Games and Tencent are reportedly working on a mobile version of MOBA sensation League of Legends.

Despite having some internal issues with their workforce currently, developer/publisher Riot Games is still doing well with their popular free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends over Mac and PC platform.

Apparently, Riot Games is collaborating with parent company Tencent on a mobile version of the game for Android and iOS devices. Although it has been in works for more than a year now, we will not see it launching anytime soon in 2019.

Major portion of League player from Western regions prefer to play MOBA games on PC but then there is Eastern market with huge potential for growth, which is mostly leaning towards playing their games on mobile devices.

Those player bases are major target for Chinese corporate giant Tencent Holdings Ltd to develop a mobile version of LoL to grow their overall player count and adding new source of revenue for the game at the same time.

Tencent has previously worked on a MOBA game titled Honour of Kings for Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch that was re-branded for Western market as Arena of Valor but it failed their expectation of gaining same level of success as LoL.

We can expect that mobile version of League of Legends would probably have gameplay similarities to Arena of Valor. One can only wonder whether or not it would allow PC and mobile accounts to be linked or offer free skins as daily log-in bonuses!
