The Last of Us Part 2 Sales Drops by 80% in UK Charts

Within three days of its release, PlayStation 4-exclusive action-adventure game The Last of Us Part II from developer Naughty Dog and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment has sold over 4 million copies worldwide, setting a huge milestone.

However, that impressive sales number has took a great hit and unexpectedly dropped by 80% this week. Although sales drops after first week are pretty common, difference between The Last of Us 2 and other first-party titles are noteworthy.

Recent numbers from United Kingdom market are gathered by Germany's largest market research institute GfK, which solely reflects over physical boxed sales figures in UK only and not including overall digital sales from PlayStation Store.

Despite being at number 1 spot last week, TLoU2 sales have dropped by a large margin and it may lose its place in UK charts by next week. Previously, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End for PS4 had seen a 78% drop during its second week of sales.

Seeing a heavy fall of 80% after a strong opening week is not uncommon for a PS4-exclusive title. Interestingly enough, people who didn't play the first game are buying box copies of The Last of Us: Remastered for PS4, which saw 82% rise.

Last week, Naughty Dog and Sony had a remarkable achievement of attaining number 1 spot on UK sales chart with recently released The Last of Us Part II and its critically-acclaimed 2013 predecessor title The Last of Us taking number 9 place.
