Horizon Forbidden West Reportedly Delayed to 2022

Back in May, developer Guerrilla Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed extended gameplay and story footage of upcoming action role-playing game Horizon Forbidden West during a dedicated State of Play stream.

Though initially planned for a 2021 release, a recent Bloomberg report claims that Sony is very much likely to postpone Horizon Zero Dawn sequel launch from its originally scheduled holiday 2021 release window and delay it to Q1 2022.

GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb has stated that Guerrilla Games and Sony may eventually push back Forbidden West to next year on his Giant Bomb show earlier as they will possibly confirm this at a PlayStation digital event in September.

When this rumor has surfaced on Reddit shortly afterwards, Grubb has clarified his stance over Horizon II: Forbidden West delay. He simply wrote on GamingLeaksAndRumors that this is what he is "hearing and not that it's a sure thing" yet.

PlayStation Studio boss Hermen Hulst previously mentioned that Forbidden West is on track to release on holiday 2021. However, he never actually announced an official date given ongoing global situations caused by COVID-19 pandemic.

Horizon Forbidden West has joined another long-anticipated PlayStation-exclusive, God of War: Ragnarök that got pushed to 2022. Games like Gotham Knights, Gran Turismo 7 and Hogwarts Legacy have also suffered from unexpected delay.
