Techland bids farewell to original Dying Light with one final update after seven years and focuses on Dying Light 2 contents.

Dying Light Gets Final Update

Originally launched across PC and previous console systems, 2015 survival horror game Dying Light from developer Techland and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive recently received a next-gen patch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Ever since its release, Techland has supported original Dying Light with many free updates and paid DLCs even after its sequel Dying Light 2: Stay Human launch earlier but dev team decided to finally end its support after 7-year of life cycle.


Dying Light free next-gen upgrade has unlocked its framerate and graphical enhancements on PS5 and Series X/S. Techland continues to roll out a variety of cosmetics, small paid DLC packs and new weapons, adding longevity to the game.

Techland announces to focus their development efforts to Dying Light 2 contents from now on, a sequel that released on early February 2022 and initially received mixed fan-reception due to a number of bugs and missing promised features.

Even though Dying Light won't be receiving new updates or DLC in future, online servers will be up for its multiplayer aspects. Previous community events will be recycled in future for any new players who might have missed them out earlier.

Techland also made Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition completely free for anyone who owns original base game. Players who purchased Platinum Edition will receive upgrade for Dying Light: Definitive Edition for no extra charge.


Techland has definitely set a new gold standard in terms of supporting games years after their release with Dying Light. Even before releasing Dying Light 2, they promised to support it for at least 5 years with several free and paid contents.

Dying Light 2 first major paid DLC story was delayed by Techland from June to September 2022. They also announced working on a new open-world fantasy action RPG and shared concept art by former Arkane and CD Projekt Red employees.
