The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt New-Gen Upgrade Still Coming in Late 2022

Originally scheduled to release last year, developer/publisher CD Projekt Red had to postpone PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version of critically-acclaimed 2015 action role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to 2022 second quarter.

After getting delayed several times, The Witcher 3 for next-gen consoles was scheduled earlier for a late 2022 release. CD Projekt recently confirms that upgraded versions are still on track to release across PC and new console later this year.

At their first company half earnings call this week, CD Projekt president CEO Adam Kiciński said The Witcher 3 is on its way to release during fourth quarter of 2022, on seventh anniversary of its original release, as they announced previously.

Kiciński also reveals that CDPR is expecting their new Witcher saga to have more than just one game. CD Projekt announced a new Witcher game back in March with a teaser image, which is currently in pre-production using Unreal Engine 5.

CD Projekt Red announced earlier to release next-gen ports of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt later this year.

Earlier in April, CD Projekt revealed that The Witcher franchise has already sold over 65 million copies, including 40 million of The Witcher 3. Due to multiple delays, dev team had to promise fans that new-gen version has not been scrapped.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen versions were being developed by Saber Interactive, studio that also delivered its Nintendo Switch port. Nevertheless, development later moved in-house to complete remaining work on delayed upgrades.
