To stand in solidarity for the fire ravaged iconic Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris, Ubisoft is giving away Assassins Creed Unity for free on Uplay.

Even if you don't keep up much with international news, you may have heard about the devastating fire at iconic Notre-Dame cathedral of Paris on this Monday, April 15 that has moved everyone around the world in shock.

To stand in solidarity with everyone affected by it, French video game developer/publisher Ubisoft has announced to donate €500,000 for its restoration work and offering free copies of Assassin's Creed Unity on PC via Uplay, available until April 25.

Set during French Revolution era of a fictional Paris, AC Unity focuses efforts of protagonist Arno Victor Dorian in exposing forces behind wheels of Revolution and its gameplay follows a stealth based combat system in an open-world.

Entire set pieces of this installment are from a time when cathedral of Notre-Dame was vandalized and players are to enter the central church chasing Templar Sivert at one point, which remains a very notable part of the game.

While designing the in-game version of this renowned monumental piece, senior level artist Caroline Miousse said in a 2014 interview that they went through a lot of blueprints and Assassin's Creed historian Maxime Durand helped of course.

Although she never visited it before working on the project back then, she looked at a lot of references and talked to people to know how it's like to be there. However, the one you will see in AC Unity is not the one from French Revolution.

Much like Eiffel tower, Notre-Dame de Paris is an iconic part of the city skyline that is quite hard to miss because of a massive spire aside from its two towers and has gone through an extraordinary recreation process during development of Unity.

Rebuilt after 18th century with wood, it suffered the most during recent fire and Miousse actually changed it a bit to make it look cool. Whenever players get to climb on it, they have a chance to see Paris from very top and it is an amazing view.

Entire world has already pledged over $900 million collectively for reconstruction of the 800 years old historic Cathedral with more coming in every day and French government has planned on rebuilding it within next few years.

Already donating an amount to the cause, Ubisoft is doing their part as well by inviting players to appreciate its glory with a free giveaway of Assassin's Creed Unity, which obviously is the possible best way of paying homage to Notre-Dame in video games.

Assassin's Creed Origins on Humble Monthly Bundle

Ubisoft's popular stealth adventure Assassin's Creed Origins gets included in Humble Monthly Bundle for May.

Set in ancient Egypt of Pharaoh era, action-adventure title Assassin's Creed Origins arguably is one of the best among recent releases of the series if not the best and its helps establish a century-long lore for entire Assassin's Creed franchise.

We are talking about it because it is going to be included on Humble Monthly Bundle for May 2019 as an Early Unlock game. Typically, there are two or three titles announced but in this case, Origins alone is enough to draw attention of players.

On each month, customers also receive an early access to exclusive games developed for and published by Humble in Humble Originals. Of course these indie titles don't take the industry by storm but they sure are a treat for monthly subscribers.

Regular members have already gotten their hands on Absolver, Dandara, Minit, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, Northgard, She Remembered Caterpillars, Steel Rats and Tannenberg on their bundle for April 2019, which has a total value of $171.

Also, Humble Monthly bundle takes a percentage off overall purchase each month and donates them to charity. Proceedings from May 2019 will be spent to support Action Against Hunger, an organization that works hard to feed the malnourished worldwide.

Ubisoft Cancelled Starlink Physical Toys

Due to poor sales numbers, Ubisoft decides to cancel production of physical toys for action game Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

2018 action-adventure release Starlink: Battle for Atlas from developer/publisher Ubisoft has launched on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, introducing a toys-to-life concept that is connected to gameplay elements.

Though it managed to secure approval of critics and fans in general, the game somehow still underperforms in marketplaces according to a recent production update and thus, halting further production of physical toys by Ubisoft.

Battle for Atlas focuses on a group of heroic interstellar pilots who mostly explore through the vastness of Atlas star system, come across different species to recruit into your crew for fighting alien threats and stop evil Grax from taking over.

Purchasing of Starlink toys let players assemble powerful starships or customize ship components that are vital to both land and space-based combat. Several Pilot Packs are there to include more playable characters into your roster.

RELATED: New Assassin's Creed Game Coming in 2020?

Switch version of Starlink has exclusive access to Fox McCloud character of Star Fox series featuring unique missions. He comes with his Arwing starship whereas PS4 and Xbox version gets Zenith starship and three different weapons within a Starter Pack.

Even though players were quite supportive of toys-to-life and the game itself, sales numbers have yet failed to meet their overall expectations. Therefore, the studio had to stop making any additional physical toys for upcoming Spring update or in future.

Of course this decision may come as disappointing to many fans since toys-to-life elements were one of the key selling point for Starlink. However, people shouldn't be surprised when a Starter Pack would cost them $74.99, which more than a usual AAA-title.

Plus, it saw a price drop down to $35 only two months after release that clearly indicated sales was not going good. It was a risky move for Ubisoft when other franchise like Disney Infinity and LEGO Dimensions were having a decline in sales.

Although development team would not be making any more toys from now on, they sure would still continue to roll out more Starlink content to expand this open-world game to support back their dedicated player community.

Announced back in Nintendo Direct February 2019, Starlink: Battle for Atlas would receive its biggest update till date in April, which will make Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare and Slippy Toad playable with their unique pilot abilities.

New Assassin's Creed Game Coming in 2020?

Apparently titled "Assassin's Creed Legion", rumor has it that Ubisoft is planning next game of the series to set in Rome and to release on 2020.

After wrapping up Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey in two back-to-back years, developer/publisher Ubisoft announced back in 2018 that they are skipping 2019 for releasing any new titles from the popular action-adventure stealth game series.

Recently, a new rumor suggests that the next Assassin's Creed game will be released at some point in 2020 and would be set on Rome, contrary to what many have predicted earlier about the game being set on feudal Japan or China.

In an attempt to discover its roots, AC franchise went back to Ancient Egypt in Origins and then moved to classical Greece of 431 BC for the next installment, Odyssey. Currently code named Legion, a new AC game is coming in 2020 according to a latest buzz.

On the message board discussion about upcoming Watch Dogs 3 rumors of the website Fireden, it is suggested that the premise for forthcoming Assassin's Creed title may take place somewhere around 169 AD, when the reign of Marcus Aurelius was ending.

The same source also suggests that players will be given the choice to pick between a male and female assassin character named Cassius or Lucia like Alexios and Kassandra from like the previous Assassin's Creed release.

These lead characters would likely be descendants of characters from either Origins or Odyssey. Focused mostly on Assassins and politics from the First Civilization history of Rome, both newcomers and series veterans will find things they enjoy.

Ubisoft is targeting "Assassin's Creed Legion" to release on platforms like PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as next gen consoles, which are yet to be announced from both Microsoft and Sony. Until any new information arises, these are all we know for now.

Although the series has already visited Rome in 2010 through Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, it would still be nice to revisit once more long after. However, it would be wise to take the news with a grain of salt since there is no more concrete evidence other than the leaked image.

Now that we are less than a month away from the launch date of the open-world FPS, it would be very nice to know the premise of the title in a little more details other than it is set after FC5 and rise from the ashes of the events that took place earlier.
