Darksiders: Genesis Introduces War

THQ Nordic introduces War, youngest of Horseman for upcoming top-down shooter Darksiders: Genesis.

Merely days before E3 2019 kick-started, developer Airship Syndicate and publisher THQ Nordic has announced their upcoming top-down hack and slash action role-playing game Darksiders: Genesis featuring fourth Horseman, Strife.

Also showed up alongside him in action for the latest Darksiders series spin-off prequel game was his brother, War but for some reason it seemed that he never really had a proper introduction in the first place, so here it goes.

War will be playable character in Genesis as well as his brother Strife and even allowed to switch between them anytime in-game, thus they can leverage melee combat prowess of the former and long-range attacks of the latter.

You can also choose to play them separately in two player co-operative mode according to your playstyle preference. Known as Rider of the Red Horse, the youngest Horseman will be accompanied by his graceful phantom steed, Ruin.

Clearly a Diablo-inspired title, the game also has some RPG elements like abilities and weapon augmentations. War will be picking up his iconic blade Chaoseater once again to slay enemy hordes and unleash his fury on battlegrounds.

Up until now, Darksiders series never had a co-op mode and same thing goes for their attempt with top-down perspective. This probably had been an idea they kept for long and now that more than two Horsemen has debuted, it is finally possible.

Even though all three mainstream Darksiders games were set around a same time period, Genesis took place thousand years early based on a plot that is mostly focused on Strife, the gun-slinging fourth Horseman of Apocalypse.

Neither of both Airship Syndicate and THQ Nordic has revealed a definitive release date for Darksiders: Genesis yet but it is currently aiming to launch on Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
