Persona 6 Will Reportedly Release in 2025

Following immense success of 2016 role-playing game Persona 5, many fans expected Japanese video game developer/publisher Atlus would go for a follow-up sequel next but they focused on a ground-up remake of Persona 3 in its place.

There have been rumors of a sequel to Persona 5 being in works and it may release a lot sooner than many fans were expecting. A latest rumor suggests that Persona 6 could launch as early as 2025 as complete game, with few story DLCs.

A recent post on ResetEra forums by user Head on the Block claims that a sequel to Persona 5 is 95% complete. It will be a fully featured semi-open world game and releases next year with DLC just like various major single-player AAA-title.

Although no proof for these claims was shown so far, Head on the Block has been a well-known leaker for a few years now. Previously, they successfully leaked information regarding Nintendo Switch 2 and Persona 3 Reload before others.

They also talked about long-rumored remake of Final Fantasy IX that keeps getting pushed back over and over. Whereas every other insider claims that it would release very soon, Head on the Block suggests it got delayed internally again.

What's noticeable here is that this release model is fairly different from usual Persona roadmap as Atlus would typically go for an initial release, then an "enhanced version" release a few years later and then maybe a PC version will arrive.

Atlus doesn't usually release story DLC for Persona franchise but Persona 3 was the series entry to receive a proper story expansion. Major internal changes at Atlus and SEGA could have led to changes in Persona games' release strategies.

In past, Atlus' re-release model for Persona games could have hurt its early sales as fans are not likely to buy it if they knew an enhanced edition is coming later and players will buy DLCs only if they don't have to purchase that game twice.

2025 may seem too soon for Persona 6 release given how Persona 4 and 5 had a release gap of eight years. P6 arriving next year would make it a five-year gap with Persona 5 release but they can always re-use their previous game assets.

Persona games usually features same variety of monsters in different installments with little bit of modeling is done by Persona 3 Reload. Atlus will ultimately decide when their next game will be announced and let fans know it via online.
