The King of Fighters '97 Global Match Announced

Long ago, in the days of arcade games, the only fighting game that gave Street Fighter a run for their money is The King of Fighters series from SNK. The titles released in the 90's are some of the best of the entire series and one such is The King of Fighters '97. Recently in Akihabara, Tokyo, SNK has announced that they are bringing back the game as their newest Neo Geo port titled "The King of Fighters ’97 Global Match" during the ongoing EVO Japan 2018 tournament.

This installment will feature online support so that players can compete with others through multiplayer matchmaking and that is the reason why SNK has branded it by naming "Global Match" after 20 years of its original release. Approximately, spring 2018 will see the release of the port in Japan. However, SNK made no official statement of whether or not they are going to make it available on the western regions.

Not only has the version allowed you to access the regular 29 players including the single entry of Iori Yagami and Shingo Yabuki, you can also pick up hidden characters like Orochi Iori or Orochi Leona to unleash your fury. KOF '97 Global Match also brings back the Advanced and Extra Mode to amp up your characters' potential in a fight depending on their likeness. Though, there won't be any graphical enhancement or extra content to expect, support for trophies will be included in it.

For those who are not familiar with The King of Fighters series or haven't played this one yet, The King of Fighters '97 is the fourth installment of the long-running franchise. It also saw an end to "The Orochi Saga" which started with The King of Fighters '94. Currently, fans of SNK fighting games all over the world are busy with The King of Fighters XIV and SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, which are also in the spotlight of EVO Japan.

Before being made available on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita through The King of Fighters '97 Global Match, KOF '97 already made its debut on Android, iOS, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PSP platforms. Since many other Neo Geo classics are making way to the modern day consoles, it was only a matter of time that The King of Fighters '97 made it to the list too.
