PUBG Crosses 3 Million Concurrent Players

If we say that the year 2017 was dominated by the newly released sensation of a multiplayer online battle royale game called PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, we won't be exaggerating much, right? We know we are right on this one. Because, there was literally news about PUBG every week if not every month and sometimes there were interesting scoops on the game twice in a day. We just couldn't catch a break from it as it seemed. That's not a bad thing though.

PUBG Crosses 3 Million Concurrent Players

From the Early Access days on Steam, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has set a couple of impressive milestones for having a large number of concurrent players online. Back in September, PUBG hit the mile marker of 1 million players. Then October saw the number grow to double just as it exited the Early Access stage and now at the end of the year, the game reached the milestone of 3 million players simultaneously participating in the hottest online battle royale.

The closest number nearing the landmark of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds that any other game has managed to reach till date is Dota 2. This multiplayer online battle arena game from Valve Corporation has the record of reaching 1.29 million players but even that number hasn't been above anywhere near 1 million since February 2017. Currently, Dota 2 has a number of concurrent players online between 50-70 thousands at best.

Before today, many online portals and sites already published a bunch of fake news on PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds already hitting the 3 million players' peak point and since everyone is so damn hyped with the game, some actually believed it to be true. PUBG eventually did managed to reach that peak though as it was quite inevitable for the game at this point of increasing popularity. It wasn't until Steam’s official stats page confirmed the news to be true, we weren't absolutely sure if this have happened.
