The playthrough opens up with Clementine and little AJ riding towards a location looking for food. In entrance, there is a bell and when she rang it, a walker comes out of nearby bush only to be killed. She asks AJ about how they should approach the house to test if he properly remembers his lessons. They entered inside to find a turned couple bound in chairs, leaving a note to be left alone. What simply was a supply run then turns into a quick time panic event within next few moments.

Like always, Telltale's work in portraying this interactive survival horror drama in episodic manner was top-notch. Even when Clem and Alvin Jr. were just went out just scavenging for food; the tension in the atmosphere was felt. Also, the game has slightly redefined their art style for this newest installment and added some new over-the-shoulder camera angles. Although the series mostly being narrative-driven, changes in gameplay aspects hints for advanced combat system.

As hinted before in the first teaser trailer, she is not preparing Alvin to adapt but to survive alone when she is gone and the same can be noticed here too. Over the years, Clementine has evolved into a tough survivalist from a scared little girl through consequences. This indeed was a great run for an original video game adaptation based on popular Image Comics monthly ongoing comic-book series The Walking Dead by writer Robert Kirkman (Battle Pope, Haunt), which started on 2012.
