Moving forward with gameplay improvements and innovations, upcoming first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II by developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision is set to release for all platforms on October 28, 2022.

As fans are waiting to join MWII Open Beta test program later this week, Infinity Ward decided to share some new details regarding a fully revamped Gunsmith weapon customization system before they fight each other in multiplayer Beta.

Gunsmith 2.0 trailer for Modern Warfare II offers a detailed overview to weapon customization systems.

Originally introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) reboot, Infinity Ward has entirely reworked Gunsmith system for its sequel. Players can now upgrade a weapon beyond its class, evolving an assault rifle to an SMG or even LMG.

Thanks to progression overhaul, attachments can be shared between weapon platforms only if they are unlocked for all weapons. Once your loadout customization is complete, test out your firearms in a firing range within Gunsmith mode.

Due to branching progression, attachments can be easily swapped between playstyles through Gunsmith system. Operators will get a base gun depending on their rank, which will determine its primary use, barrels, muzzles and other parts.

Unlockable weapon attachments can either be equipped across all receivers or can be used for all guns. Gunsmith 2.0 and weapons platforms are two of many new features that are included with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II base game.
