God of War: Ragnarök Adds New Game Plus Mode

At this year's annual BAFTA Games Awards, 2023 action-adventure game God of War: Ragnarök by developer Santa Monica Studio and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment won awards in six categories but loses to Vampire Survivors.

Only months ago, Ragnarök reached a new milestone of selling over 11 million copies and set a new franchise record. Fans have already finished playing the base game long ago and dev team has recently delivered New Game Plus mode.

Players who want to revisit Nine Realms in New Game+ mode need to playthrough entire story campaign of Ragnarök first. Once you get access to NG+, you can experience it once again with your equipment and skills being carried over.

New Game Plus mode makes everything from your previous save available at start, except Hex and Sonic arrows. Areas where you need those arrows or Draupnir Spear will not unlock unless you have reached a certain point in storyline.

Kratos' cloak from opening scene, Armor of the Black Bear will already be equipped in NG+ that comes with stats for defense and strength. For a challenging gameplay, wear his Spartan Armor with no perk or stat, locked at Power Level 1.

A returning favorite, Ares and Zeus armors from God of War (2018) comes back with new looks and perks. It increases your chance to get a Health Stone drop on hit for a rage gain and can be yours for Hacksilver at Huldra Brothers' shop.

Much similar to Guardian shield, Spartan Aspis is a nod to Kratos' heritage and has a tight parry window with more damaging reward. A bunch of new color combinations are now available for any of your existing Level 9 and above armor.

Since your enemies will also become more powerful, convert your Level 9 equipments into Plus versions for additional progression. New enchantments like Berserker Soul Drops, Burdens and Gilded Coins are added for purchase at shop.

There are new progression paths like additional stats, Platinum tier rewards and latest upgrade for skill mods to enhance their effects. NG+ expands Sparring Arena in Niflheim by allowing you to pick other characters as your companions.

God of War: Ragnarök made some tweaks in NG+ for Endgame bosses to pose better challenge when you face them again. Moreover, you have a new Black and White Render mode for some cinematic vibe and option to skip cut-scenes.
