Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Gameplay Overview

Nearly months prior to its release, upcoming action-adventure game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor by developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts revealed a story trailer offering a look at premise of highly-anticipated sequel.

Players already had a brief glimpse at Jedi: Survivor gameplay during The Game Awards 2022 as it highlights combat and Force powers. EA and Respawn recently shared an extended gameplay overview footage, courtesy of GameInformer.

Newly revealed gameplay footage of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor highlights combat, customization and more.

Series protagonist Cal Kestis can now unlock five different primary or secondary combat stances including single or double-bladed lightsaber, crossguard, dual wield and blaster, allowing him to perform combos and beat enemies creatively.

Cal Kestis will use crossguard lightsaber as more like a longsword with a slow windup that deals massive damage to foes. Whereas dual wield is handy for high-octane combat to deliver precise and quick strikes on opponents when you roll.

Jedi: Survivor game director Stig Asmussen says that power curve came in a bit late in their first game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It was by design to make players feel untrained but you have access to few stances and basic Force powers.

As you travel across galaxy, often time you will traverse by foot and wall-running, or simply hop onto some creature as mount. You can also latch onto a Belter to seamlessly fly around massive new in-game world throughout your missions.

There are different alien races and a variety of biomes that you would come across and interact with them. During your time in Koboh, you will face off a gang of Bedlam Raiders or visit over to Rambler's Reach to meet new folks and be DJ.

Personalization hits a new level in Jedi: Survivor, allowing you to change Cal's hairstyle, clothing and more. Even his droid buddy BD-1 and trusty lightsaber can be customized in many different ways to give them a unique look unlike others.

Respawn took their findings of working on Jedi: Fallen Order and optimize that formula to make Jedi: Survivor a better experience. Fans may feel a bit bummed about no fast travel and combat difficulty at times but they aren't major issues.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is scheduled to launch for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on April 28, 2023. Pre-order now to receive several cosmetic items including BD-1 skin, DL-44 Blaster set and Obi-Wan Kenobi show-themed cosmetics.
