Arkham Knight Coming to Detective Comics #1000

Arkham Knight is about to make his DC Comics debut on the pages on Detective Comics #1000 in 2019.

One of the most beloved comic-book characters with a crazy fan-following known as The Dark Knight, Batman is marking his 80th anniversary in 2019 and DC Comics made big plans and has decided to kick start a new storyline starring another exciting guest.

Turns out, the enigmatic Arkham Knight from superhero action-adventure game Batman: Arkham Knight by developer Rocksteady Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is coming to Detective Comics monthly ongoing series at the same time.

When developer Rocksteady Studios hasn't released Batman: Arkham Knight yet in 2015, they claimed the titular character to be an original one but halfway through, it was revealed to be none other than Jason Todd, a former Robin.

As opposed to his former mentor, he is extremely militaristic and doesn't shy away from using lethal force. Throughout the game, he works for another known villain The Scarecrow and serves as the main antagonist of the game.

Just like the way DC has celebrated Superman's 80th anniversary in Action Comics #1000 earlier this year, there will be an oversized anniversary special issue #1000 and another hardcover collection titled Detective Comics: 80 Years of Batman.

Series regular writer and New York Times best-selling author Peter Tomasi (Black Adam – The Dark Age, Forever Evil – Arkham War) and artist Doug Mahnke (Final Crisis, Justice League Elite) will helm the main story of 1000th issue, which will feature the official debut of Arkham Knight on DC Comics canon.

Although Jason Todd has always been a part of mainstream franchise of The Dark Knight, his Arkham Knight identity created for the game however was only a part of a several limited series tie-in comics at best and never became a part of regular continuity.

DC also mentioned about the debut to be a New Version of the "Arkham Knight" to be specific but added no further details. In current continuity, Jason is having a tough time on his personal life and that would eventually turn him to become a villain, maybe?

Renowned comic-book creators like Alex Maleev, Brian Michael Bendis, Christopher Priest, Denny O’Neil, Dustin Nguyen, Geoff Johns, Kelley Jones, Neal Adams and Paul Dini will also be collaborating with this duo on the 96-page comics.

Following his historical debut on the pages of Detective Comics #27 in 1939, Batman has become one of the most widely recognized crime-fighter of the world for generations of fans. No matter whatever era came, the Caped Crusader was always on headlines and been an industry best-seller.

Rocksteady Rumored to Work on Justice League Game

New rumor suggests that Rocksteady Studios may actually be working on a Justice League game instead of Superman.

If you have ever played any one of those action-adventure games from Batman: Arkham series by developer Rocksteady Studios and publisher WB Games, you will probably admit that they have redefined the superhero genre in video games with those titles.

Which is why, people got a little bit excited when news of a new open world Superman game being in development by the same creators was leaked. However, some new rumors now suggest that they were actually working on a Justice League game.

When there was a buzz regarding a new Man of Steel game from Rocksteady, it was a natural flow among fans to be excited, because The Dark Knight received an acclaimed trilogy and some more. It is time for big blue to take the flight over Metropolis.

The latest leak from image-based online bulletin board 4chan suggests inclusion of Gotham, Metropolis, Keystone and a few other cities. The previously revealed poster of Superman fueled the spark only for a job listing for a "highly-anticipated AAA title" to arrive shortly and make everyone go crazy.

Apparently, what they are working on is either titled Justice League: Crisis, Justice League: New Crisis or Justice League: Infinite Crisis. Our best bet is on the first one because the domain justiceleaguecrisis.com is currently registered with Warner Bros.

While we can debate some more on what the title is going to be, the developers are working with all of their efforts to reveal the game on 2019. Even though they are making a Justice League game now, it appears that Rocksteady always had the plan to do this. But how can we be so sure?

In Arkham Knight, there is an episode titled "Batgirl: A Matter of Family" featuring Batgirl that takes place before the events of Arkham Asylum. It has a hidden Easter Egg of the villain Starro, who remains encased in a giant test tube, which cannot be broken.

You can take a look at the video below to check out for yourself how the alien conqueror lays waiting to take over on a later time.

Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, Wally West as Flash, Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, Superman and Wonder Woman will most likely be among playable characters. Starro appearing through Easter Egg also means that they will also be in the early years of their careers.

The leak mentioned about releasing frequent DLC content in episodic style and some of the future DLC may end up adding villains like Brainiac or Darkseid. The information mentioned on the job listing regarding next-gen consoles may even hint that it will debut on the new Microsoft and Sony consoles in 2019.

Job Listing Suggests Superman Game in Development?

Recent job postings by Rocksteady Studios drops hint for a long-rumored Superman title as upcoming project.

After a very successful run with their critically-acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, British video game developer Rocksteady Studios didn't come out with any releases for the past few years.

That changed back in May, when a brand-new poster for one of the most popular DC Comics superhero, Superman suddenly showed up on image-based online bulletin board 4chan. The company however, remained silent on the matter but a recent job posting strongly indicates what they are up to.

On their official website, Rocksteady posted a bunch of new job listings this week for animation, arts, audio, dialogue writing and game design departments. Without dropping any major clues that makes everything too obvious, they revealed that the applicants will be working on a "highly-anticipated AAA title".

They are also looking for a community manager, who will also end up doing live gameplay presentations, presumably to announce the developer's next project in-works.

At this point a new game on Dark Knight would not probably excite players that much of a title on Superman, because the former had so many and the latter had next to zero. The leaked poster from May actually made many to believe that an official reveal will eventually take place at E3 2018 but unfortunately, there was nothing.

Last year, Rocksteady game manager Gaz Deaves even stated on Twitter that people are going to "lose their minds" hearing about their next project.

Based on the evidence present to us, if Rocksteady Studios have really decided to move a new flight with Man of Steel then they are probably going to the right direction.

Because, alongside WB Games, they have already proved their worth in making fan-favorite video games on superhero genre by delivering games like Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight. It is time that they focus their attempts on a Superman title that truly depicts his heroism.

Rocksteady Rumored to Announce Superman Game?

Rumor has it that developer Rocksteady Studios is going to announce an Open World Superman game very soon.

Developer Rocksteady Studios were the ones behind the critically-acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, which probably is the best iteration of Batman on video game media. The franchise started with Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009 as we saw a perfectly balanced Dark Knight with equal part stealth and some serious butt-kicking action. Recently, a new poster on an image-based online bulletin board 4chan seems to be hinting at an upcoming open world Superman game from the same developer.

Rocksteady Rumored to Announce Superman Game?

Rocksteady went full open world with Arkham City and Arkham Knight after their first attempt of making a decent The Dark Knight game was successful. Just like we experienced all those fan-favorite insane villains from the pages of comic-book coming live in Arkham series, we believe they will do the same justice with everyone's favorite big blue here. It's been a few years that fans are being teased for a Superman game from the same studio but got nothing so far.

We couldn't even get any confirmation on whether or not they have started with any development work at all or is the project got scrapped, which actually happens more time than you think. The idea was also presented that perhaps it has been secretly developed by them to release as a tie-in to some future live-action Superman film but what we didn't have is some solid information. With the emergence of the new poster online, we now have more reasons to be doubtful.

From what we were able to gather from the post was that the developers will officially reveal the game itself a few weeks before E3, which marks the date for June, 2018.

Rumored Rocksteady Superman Game Poster

Other than the poster, we have some brief details on the game that seems promising even though sources are not officially confirmed yet.

  • Made by Rocksteady
  • Unreal Engine 4
  • Big open world Metropolis (about 3 times the size of Arkham Knight with a lot more buildings)
  • Can't play as Clark Kent
  • Main villain is Brainiac
  • Nerfed Superman (TAS Levels)
  • Semi-destructible environments (think AK, no buildings are falling over)
  • Combat system integrates the flying (kind of like DBZ, you can punch someone then zoom towards them and repeat)
  • Set within the Arkhamverse
  • Tons of easter eggs to Superman's lore, and some to the events that took place in the Batman Arkham Franchise

The problem with anonymous sources is that they have no validity no matter how much information they have and that's why they are not reliable at all. The poster from the thread sure looks like a concept art of some sort but it turns out to be an excellent fan-art by artist Charles Logan from his ArtStation account, which he actually posted three years back. According to artist himself, it sure was a concept art for a client’s Superman video game pitch but it was scrapped later.

Brainiac to be Main Villain

This is not the first time a "leak" was claimed by a 4chan post about a game on Man of Steel but one of many. In November 2017, there was another rumor from the same website which claimed a cover story regarding the game will be featured on Game Informer, which was declined by executive editor Andrew Reiner himself. Apparently there was another rumor from three years ago, when this rumor first came out and Logan's art was also from around the same time. So, is there a chance that it was truly for a Superman game? If it is, can it be brought back?
