Sony May Host PlayStation Showcase Ahead of Summer Game Fest 2023

For entirety of last year, PlayStation fans were expecting Sony Interactive Entertainment to host an annual PlayStation Showcase but they ended up having several State of Play broadcast event throughout 2022 to highlight major releases.

Sony already has PlayStation 5-exclusives like Final Fantasy XVI and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 lined up for launch in 2023. Therefore, a PlayStation Showcase event this year is not very unlikely and industry reports also hints at such possibility.

According to VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, a PlayStation Showcase is currently planned for later this year shortly before Summer Game Fest event on June 8, followed by Xbox & Bethesda Showcase and Ubisoft Forward in latter days.

His newest report comes after recent cancellation of a planned return for physical E3 event due to lack of support from major publishers. Most companies host their own digital showcases and don't want to go to physical events anymore.

Reliable insider Jeff Grubb shared a post detailing Summer Game Fest and other digital event in June 2023.

Jeff Grubb frequently reports on various industry rumors ahead of their official announcements and has a great track record so far. Grubb previously broke news on games like Assassin's Creed Infinity, GoldenEye, Suicide Squad and more.

Final Fantasy XVI is set to arrive later this June, so Sony having a PlayStation Showcase ahead of its release is quite possible. Also, they can show-off gameplay for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 before its heavily-rumored September 2023 release.
