In spite of being delayed by COVID-19 pandemic, action-adventure game The Last of Us Part II from developer Naughty Dog and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment becomes one of the best-selling PlayStation 4-exclusives ever.

Six months after launch, Naughty Dog releases a new trailer TLoU2 trailer that largely focuses on Abby and how her emotional journey throughout later parts of base campaign eventually impacts grand finale of The Last of Us 2.

Naughty Dog and PlayStation spotlights divisive character Abby in newly revealed trailer for The Last of Us 2.

The Last of Us was largely centered on Ellie and its aftermath of events has inspired a follow-up sequel. Abby Anderson is introduced as a dual protagonist, who is driven by vengeance against Joel Miller for killing her father in TLoU.

In recent trailer, Abby's origin story is explored through the fateful events that eventually led to a violent encounter of her with Ellie. In between showing cinematic cut-scenes, there are brief footages to look at her unique gameplay.

The Last of Us 2 has managed to sell more than 4 million copies within just four days of release, despite driving heavy fan-criticism over plot twist following a major story leak ahead of launch and getting review-bombed on Metacritic.

Laura Bailey, voice actor for new playable character Abby and game director Neil Druckman was receiving death threats online by group of angry fans due to mistreatment of fan-favorite series protagonist Joel Miller during opening act.

Naughty Dog has most likely anticipated such fan-backlash for The Last of Us Part 2 and Abby was notably absent from majority of marketing campaigns Sony ran throughout summer before its long-awaited release back in June 2020.

Regardless of all the hatred, The Last of Us Part II has been nominated in several categories for The Game Awards 2020 and Naughty Dog concluded her narrative in a sort of redemption arc without trying to justify any of her actions.
