The trailer showcases a variety of enemies from the regular Trinity soldiers on her tail from the beginning and every other party who thinks she is not welcomed in their territory. Speaking of which, we see a group of tribal Mayan warriors looking for her. While going through underwater passages, Lara is strangled by a giant Eel and then shown getting attacked by a swarm of Piranhas. Lastly, she is confronted by a terror from the wildlife of South America, a ferocious Jaguar.

Although a 40 seconds-long trailer is not enough to showcase what Lara Croft has to survive to fulfill her quest but the close-ups gives us an idea of how much she has to endure. Of course, she will have her surrounding environment and different weapons to use at her advantage to deal with any enemies that come after her and she became quite a seasoned survivor to overcome them. Whether or not that is true, we will find out when Shadow of the Tomb Raider is launched next month.

Tomb Raider Trilogy Remastered Canceled

Only a week ago, we've learned that 90's legendary action-adventure game series Tomb Raider has been developed into re-mastered edition by Realtech VR. The first three release of the franchise were chosen to be re-mastered but now that dream can probably never come true as the project has been canceled. Though, no details of what went on behind the scene are still a mystery but it appears that the idea of the developers clashed at some levels with the publisher of the game.

It was through an official Tweet that Realtech VR revealed that the project is canceled now but then it was deleted. After a while there was another Tweet, which says they will not continue working on any third-party licenses anymore.

Now, it is obviously clear that Realtech VR surely have faced some problem with publisher Square Enix, which have led them to reach such conclusion and because, they are not allowed to publicly discuss the nature of the dispute with anyone, they are keeping a mild tone at it. We are pretty sure that fans that were having high expectations for the first three games of Tomb Raider series are quite hurt in this short-lived hope of theirs. We can easily relate to that.

Although, Realtech VR have been working on those titles for some time and their re-mastered version of Tomb Raider 1 and 2 is probably available on mobile devices. You can still get the original Tomb Raider Trilogy on Steam but those are the DOS version and not going to give you the experience of the re-mastered ones for sure. Actor Alicia Vikander and Dominic West starrer live-action Tomb Raider film is already out and that can help you blow off some steam now.

Recently, Square Enix has revealed the next installment of the Tomb Raider series titled Shadow of the Tomb Raider and there is a release date for September 14, 2018 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Skeptical fans are speculating that perhaps the copyright owners are doing this because of the belief that they may not get enough hype for their newest Tomb Raider title if re-mastered version of the original trilogy of Tomb Raider is on the way. We think of it as just a possibility but even a very far-fetched one at that.

Tomb Raider 1+2+3 Will Be Remastered

90's action-adventure gaming age would have been entirely different if not for Eidos Interactive to come up with the legendary Tomb Raider series. The popularity of the franchise spawned two live-action movies starring Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie in the lead role and a reboot movie by actor Alicia Vikander reprises the character of Lara Croft, scheduled to release on March 16, 2018. All we need is some re-mastered edition of the old Tomb Raider games.

Well, guess what? That is exactly what is going to happen now. Developer Realtech VR takes the responsibility of re-invigorating these games as re-mastered edition. They have already ported Tomb Raider 1 and 2 for mobile devices successfully and now they are headed for PC with these games. Aside from graphical enhancement, the Tomb Raider trilogy will run on a brand-new 3D engine and will feature support for OpenVR.

In a recent conversation on Twitter, Realtech VR let it slip that they are up to re-mastering the Tomb Raider games for Steam, which you can see below.

Below is an example of how it is going to turn out as the re-mastered version of Tomb Raider for PC once they are done. It will run on a full HD 1080p display and at 60fps.

The best part of this news is that, if you already happen to have Tomb Raider 1, 2 or 3 on Steam, you will get the re-mastered editions free and no re-purchasing is required at all. The developers have same plans for GOG but whether or not that is possible is still a question. At this point in time of many kick-ass games out there, a lot of people didn't even realize that the first games of Tomb Raider series are actually available on Steam.

While the modern day reboot installments of the Tomb Raider series are behind the inspiration for the movie adaption, players deserve the chance to go back to the roots of this game to find out first hand, what made it one of the greatest. The polygonal shape of Lara Croft's design however stays almost all the same but in overall, the sneak preview looks very promising. If not anything, this attempt to re-master will at least bring these good old games back to PC for a new generation of gamers.
