Mortal Kombat XI May Be Announced at E3 2018

A playful tease on Twitter by Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon suggests the upcoming announcement for Mortal Kombat XI at E3 2018.

Before working on fighting game series like Injustice: Gods Among Us and WWE Immortals, NetherRealm Studios came to be known as the house of the legendary Mortal Kombat series. From the '90s era this franchise has been known to all for dreadful violence and a tense gameplay.

It has changed and then evolved over time but still remains popular after two decades. Recently, a Tweet from game's director Ed Boon may have teased for Mortal Kombat XI, which probably is on its way.

Series creator Ed Boon has found immense success though the first Injustice game and its sequel, Injustice 2 but yet wants people to remember how important it is. Boon occasionally jokes around with his fans over social media every now and then.

This also supplies a lot of potential clues for upcoming games and additional contents. Most of the tie his Tweets are not just trolling and besides, since there is a hint of a tease, he probably isn't kidding and might really drop something.

Lately, when a random Twitter user was pointing out that it would really be cool if their studio introduces a fourth DLC pack of new characters this year for their critically acclaimed fighting game Injustice 2.

Though he didn't shut him down on the possibility of that ever happening but decided to counter asking him "You know what ELSE would be kool....?" If you know that his history of fondness for using the letter "K" instead of "C", then you will notice that it surely is a tease for Mortal Kombat!

Also, it all makes sense because from 2013, NetherRealm Studios has been releasing Mortal Kombat titles and Injustice series one after another. Since DC Universe fighting game Injustice 2 came out almost a year ago, an E3 2018 reveal won't really be that surprising at all.

Maybe will all these recent leaks from Walmart for upcoming games are what inspired Boon to be a bit playful about their upcoming project. The good news is, we will not have to wait much longer to find out the truth as E3 is almost upon us.

The last game from the franchise was 2015's Mortal Kombat X, which was released on Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. So, it is safe to assume that the alleged new installment will also be compatible with these platforms as well.

For years, the studio has been developing all these incredible fighting games, which keeps us well entertained and always wanting some more. Let's just wait and see what Ed Boon and his teams are working so hard on these days!
