Netflix's The Witcher Teaser

First official teaser trailer for Netflix's upcoming fantasy TV series The Witcher shows Geralt of Rivia in action.

When fantasy novel series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski was made into action role-playing game franchise The Witcher that became immensely successful, a live-action adaptation was imminent and streaming giant Netflix was interested.

Last year, they cast actor Henry Cavill (Justice League, Man of Steel) in lead role Geralt of Rivia along with a few other and after revealing their cast photos online earlier, an official teaser trailer was shown at San Diego Comic-Con panel.

Entire focus of first full trailer remains on how elves came to fantasy world of Continent, who taught humans how to wield magic using chaos until they were slaughtered and Geralt is seen fighting troops of Queen Calanthe in present.

Yennefer of Vengerberg showed up briefly, a prophecy of what the future holds for Princess Ciri is foretold, war on Nilfgaard, more conflict among other parties  and it all comes down to a spider-like creature emerging from a spooky swamp.

Cavill convincingly portrays monster hunter Geralt as a hardened man to everyone in his silver white hair and ripped muscle build while still trying to have faith deep down inside that would help him bring forth change for good.

Regarding many complaining for some time about Geralt carrying only one sword with him and not two, it was clarified at the panel that Netflix series is following The Witcher novels for adaptation and not relying on aspects of video games.

For this upcoming fantasy TV series for online streaming-service Netflix, showrunner Lauren Hissrich takes "The Last Wish" from main Witcher Saga for adaptation in order to give Ciri, Geralt and Yennefer enough room for character development.

Although San Diego Comic-Con 2019 panel has not revealed a long-anticipated official release date for Season 1 of Netflix's The Witcher yet, the show is currently expected to come out sometime later in 2019 for an eight episodes run.
