PlayStation Showcase 2021 Event

Almost after a year, Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially announced to make a return of PlayStation Showcase broadcast for this year and show-off future lineup of games from first and third-party partners of PlayStation Studios.

Fans are already hyped up anticipating many surprise reveals from various leaks and rumors of many popular franchises, which will be streamed in a 40-minute long live event on Twitch and YouTube at September 9, 1 PM PDT/4 PM EDT.


Today's event highlights upcoming PlayStation games that are coming this holiday season and in near future.




Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake | Announced




With a brand-new cinematic advert, PlayStation Showcase 2021 event kicks-off and followed up by announcing a remake of fan-favorite classic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for newer generation of Sony consoles from Aspyr Media.

Star Wars: KOTOR has long been rumored for a remake, according to industry insiders and fans have been waiting for long for a confirmation. An official teaser only offers a first-look at Darth Revan, legendary Sith Lord wielding a lightsaber.


Project EVE | Gameplay Reveal




Originally revealed back in 2019, hack and slash action -adventure game Project EVE from South Korean developer/publisher SHIFT UP releases a brand-new gameplay video today that focuses on titular heroine battling a horde of monsters.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Project EVE looks a lot like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata have been blend into one. Mankind has left Earth and EVE is busy fighting a race of creatures known as NA:tives across space stations or in a subway.


Tiny Tina's Wonderlands | Gameplay and Release Date




Announced during Summer Games Fest event, fantasy looter shooter Tiny Tina's Wonderlands by developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games have revealed a first-look at gameplay and is scheduled for release on March 25, 2022.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a spin-off to Borderlands that keeps many of its insanity and wacky guns. Tina guides you to a new character customization system, high-fantasy setting, spells and warped monsters to overcome evil Dragon Lord.


Alan Wake Remastered | Gameplay and Release Date



Shortly after official announcement, developer Remedy Entertainment has revealed a gameplay trailer for upcoming Alan Wake Remastered, which is making its debut on Sony consoles for the first time in history, coming on October 5, 2021.

Remastered version of acclaimed supernatural thriller Alan Wake is now fully enhanced with 4K visuals for PlayStation 5 and runs at 60 FPS. PlayStation 4 Pro will have Performance and Quality modes, whereas PS4 version can hit up to 30 FPS.


Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection | Announced




Although fans were hoping to see a reveal for Uncharted Collection for PC, developer Naughty Dog had something different planned and they came up revealing Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for both PS5 and PC, coming in 2022.

Legacy of Thieves Collection is a remastered bundle featuring Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and its 2017 standalone expansion Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, will be arriving for consoles early next year and Windows PC platform on a later date.


Marvel's Wolverine | Announced




A cinematic trailer opened up with logo of developer Insomniac Games as it plays James Carr's Dark End of the Street in background and a guy sitting in a bar after a brawl who unsheathes his claws once again, revealing Marvel's Wolverine.

Insomniac and Sony wanted to work on Marvel's most favorite mutant for long since PS4 launch of Spider-Man. A standalone experience on PlayStation 5 console, currently there is no release window for Wolverine announced by Insomniac.


Marvel's Spider-Man 2 | Announced




In a surprise reveal, Insomniac Games teases Marvel's Spider-Man 2 by releasing a brief trailer at PS Showcase for PlayStation 5 consoles. Spidey and Miles Morales are seen beating a group of thugs as someone watches from a dark alley.

Spider-Man 2 will feature Kraven the Hunter and Venom as primary antagonists, proving a leak from last year to be accurate. Venom is played by Tony Todd (Candyman, Final Destination) as Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter reprise their roles.


God of War: Ragnarök | Announced




A year after first official tease, Santa Monica Studio has finally revealed God of War: Ragnarök, a follow-up to 2018 reboot. In a quest to find Atreus' true heritage, the father/son duo embarks an adventure into nine realms before Ragnarök.

Kratos is seen swinging his double-chained Blades of Chaos and wielding Leviathan Axe against every odds coming at them. By end of latest trailer, they meet allies like Angrboða and Týr from Norse myth, while encountering Freya and Thor.


Sony finally revealing a title for next God of War game and confirming a sequel to 2018's Spider-Man was one of the best parts of PS showcase. Having a look at games like Forspoken, Project EVE and GhostWire: Tokyo was also a pleasure.

After successfully wrapping up PlayStation digital event and showcasing over a dozen of games, host Sid Shuman of digital communications invites PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst and a few Santa Monica devs for post-show interview.
