Inspired by classic zombie shooter franchise Left 4 Dead, developer Turtle Rock Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive officially announced its spiritual successor title Back 4 Blood back in March 2019 through a job listing.

Turtle Rock teased fans with a B4B concept art on Twitter over a year later on Fourth of July last year. In a surprise announcement today, an official reveal trailer offers first-look at Back 4 Blood during The Game Awards 2020 digital event.

Warner Bros. released a new trailer for B4B that sheds light on its post-apocalyptic world and its horrors.

In an anonymous location at North Pole, a group of scientists discover a worm-like parasite near a giant crater and named it Devil Worm. They took it to Quebec, Canada for research and it eventually infects a researcher by attacking him.

A catastrophic outbreak broke in that either killed or infected majority of humanity into flesh-eating zombies. A group of hardened survivors calling themselves Cleaners takes a last stand against endless horde of undead monsters.

In streets of an unnamed city, a small group of survivors are fending off a massive horde of zombies. In a matter of seconds, they got ambushed by a four-armed freak, get swarmed out and are chased by a 20 feet long monstrosity.

Entire trailer intro for B4B has similar vibes of Left 4 Dead but only this time, at least an origin of undead epidemic is shown. Many familiar weapons like handguns, Molotov cocktail, nailed bat, shotguns and submachine gun are to return.

Turtle Rock also showed off a gameplay demo, featuring pre-alpha footage of Back 4 Blood co-op action.

Back 4 Blood lets you engage in solo adventure and adding up three more AI teammates in your squad of four. Moreover, local co-op mode allows up to four-players and eight-players can duke it out in online PvP multiplayer mode as well.

Valve is seemingly not interested to revive Left 4 Dead series anymore but Turtle Rock decides to go back to their co-op survival roots. There are new playable characters, variety of enemies, more missions and even some lore backstory.

L4D franchise fans have long been asking for developer/publisher Valve to release Left 4 Dead 3 and original development team finally decides to honor its memory by working on upcoming first-person cooperative zombie shooter B4B.

Back 4 Blood is coming to PC via Epic Games Store and Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on June 22, 2021. A closed PC alpha test starts soon on December 17, 2020, will continue until December 21, 2020.
