Hideo Kojima teases working on new concepts, possibly teasing Death Stranding sequel or a spin-off.

Following its PlayStation 4 debut back in November 2019, a Windows PC version was announced for July 14, 2020. Meanwhile, Kojima started to tease a number of projects that he may be working on, including a Death Stranding sequel.

Though there have been rumors of Kojima Productions working on either Metal Gear Solid or Silent Hill series in association with Konami and Sony, which was debunked by a representative from former company shortly afterwards.

Most likely to be set within Death Stranding universe, upcoming Hideo Kojima project may turn out to be a sequel or spin-off. At least, his latest series of social media posts suggests that he is up to something similar to his most recent work.

Death Stranding Getting Photo Mode for PS4

Kojima Productions recently confirms that Photo Mode feature for Death Stranding will arrive on PS4 very soon.

When release date for PC version of open-world action strand game Death Stranding was announced earlier by publisher 505 Games, a much-requested Photo Mode was revealed to be added but was not confirmed for PlayStation 4 yet.

A few weeks later, game director Hideo Kojima came out assuring a Photo Mode for PS4 version as well, which was not surprising though. This feature will become available for players on console in a patch released by end of this month.

Death Stranding Rumored to Have Missed Sales Targets

According to recent report, Sony is disappointed with overall sales of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding.

Without a doubt, open-world action strand game Death Stranding from developer Kojima Productions and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment was one of the highly anticipated games of 2019 for players on PlayStation 4.

Not only have this game divided player community over whether to call this an absolute masterpiece or an ambiguously boring experience, even Sony is a bit disappointed at its sales, according to a forum posting in ResetEra.

A moderator on ResetEra forum known as Dusk Golem, who usually Tweets stuff about horror games have shared some new information that after sales of Death Stranding has been quite a letdown following initial launch window.

Sony had some high hopes for its sales number after release but the game failed to reach many of their speculated milestones. Moreover, there are currently more than 3 million unsold copies still lying around in their warehouses.

RELATED: Control and Death Stranding Gets Most Nominations at DICE Awards

Death Stranding is arguably considered one of the most divisive titles in recent years and there was some trouble during its development period. DS had a mixed reception from both critics and players, dividing over their own opinions.

Sony expected a much darker take, resembling to more horror-esque experience but upon disagreement with game director Hideo Kojima, the game was softly rebooted only a year and a half before launch to rush development.

Besides, Sony Worldwide Studios was not very happy with how much money Kojima Productions were spending for Death Stranding and their differences has eventually led the game end up not being a PlayStation 5 title after all.

Dusk Golem clarifies at start that he has no solid source at hand right now to verify these claims and warns everyone to take it with a grain of salt. However, a few of his threads actually line up nicely to some related speculation from earlier.

Despite a lack of return on investment in their recent endeavor, Sony is still eager to continue partnership with Kojima as they struck a deal with Konami lately to work on Silent Hill series reboot that would require a smaller budget.

Developing a horror game from well-known franchise would cost a lot less and associating with Kojima's name would create a spike of hype among fans and would be a huge seller for PlayStation brand to make enough financial return.

Throughout this month, the game has seen a 25% price drop at many retail shops, which has dropped even lower this week. Amazon and Walmart stores are currently selling it for $29.99 only to get rid of warehouse inventory fast.

Unlike major exclusives like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn or Marvel's Spider-Man, no milestone for Death Stranding was shared by Sony on social media so far and it even struggled to stay on top of sales charts after release.

Death Stranding Gets 50% Price Drop

Throughout this month, Death Stranding offers a huge discount and drops to its lowest price since launch.

Prior to its launch by end of last year, developer Kojima Productions and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment saw immense hype among fans for open-world action strand title Death Stranding by game director Hideo Kojima.

Earlier in March 2020, there has been a price drop from as low as 15% to 25% at select retailer stores and today, the game gets another price reduction at Walmart shop, bringing its worth to lowest ever since November 2019 release.

Konami and Hideo Kojima Rumored to Work on Silent Hills Reboot

Recent rumors suggest that Hideo Kojima and Konami will team up to revive Silent Hill franchise through a reboot.

When a massive dispute between Hideo Kojima and developer/publisher Konami has led to the former to leave company back in 2015, an attempted reboot of fan-favorite Silent Hill survival horror series was being shelved for good.

Earlier this year, there was a rumor of Konami working on two new titles from their iconic series. A latest rumor suggests that Sony is apparently trying to revive Silent Hills for PlayStation 5 console with Kojima and Konami on board.

Shortly after Kojima's departure, Komani has cancelled his ambitious project and removed its demo titled P.T. ("playable teaser") from PlayStation Store and even after five years of its cancellation, fans are still clamoring to bring it back.

After seeking out various developer studios to get a pitch, Konami ended up settling for two new Silent Hill games. One of them is a series reboot and another will be more in episodic format like most titles from Telltale Games.

One source states that creature designer Masahiro Ito of original series is currently working on one of those new game. 1999 Silent Hill director and writer, Keiichiro Toyama along with composer Akira Yamaoka is also reportedly returning.

Rumor has it that, this trio is assembled by SIE Japan Studio for a soft reboot of the franchise, joining up with development team of Project Siren, a group that previously worked on 2008 PlayStation 3 horror game Siren: Blood Curse.

For a rumored second game, Sony is interested to re-launch Kojima's canceled title in anticipation of upcoming next-gen release as a PS5-exclusive by having Konami own the IPs and let Kojima Productions continue its development.

Given past history between Metal Gear series creator and its Japanese publisher, it seems quite impossible for any collaboration among them but Sony has stepped in to build a bridge to patch things up for a series reboot of Silent Hill.

If Sony can somehow manage to make two new Silent Hill games as PlayStation 5-exclusive, they can be a driving force to sell more consoles. There are plans to include VR support to promote next-gen PlayStation VR device as well.

An immense fan-demand for scrapped Silent Hills game has forced Sony to seriously rethink its revival. Although it took years for Konami to get Silent Hill series back in track, fans would finally see Kojima making the scariest horror game.

P.T. Modder Finds Way to Explore Silent Hills Town

Latest hack for P.T., "Playable Teaser" lets player take a look outside at surrounding town of Silent Hills.

It has been a while since developer/publisher Konami has pulled the plug on a demo for their iconic survival horror series reboot titled P.T., yet there are legion of curious fans who still wants to know more about that playable teaser.

Lately, a modder named Lance McDonald has been digging deep into its depths to pull out never-before-seen contents from the short-lived demo and one of his most recent attempts have let him walk around whole town of Silent Hills.

McDonald has made discovery of P.T. details such as players are at all times being followed by antagonist Lisa and character model of protagonist bears likeness to actor Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) earlier.

Trying to access way to outside of an ever-looping hallway, he thought of patched the demo to tie its starting room to outdoors map. He did and fell through ground as soon as he stepped out, triggering Lisa to arrive and reset everything.

It appears that although these locations were built into demo, they were never meant to be visited by anyone on its short run. Therefore, this falling mechanism was added as a safeguard by Kojima Productions to keep you contained.

Since this event will only occur when player would try to cross its playable area, he tried to trick the game into thinking that he is still in that room and made the character float slightly above ground to avoid any jump scare from Lisa.

Lance McDonald later uploaded a video on YouTube of his wandering on ghost town streets of Silent Hills.

Turns out, this special fix worked nicely and the P.T. demo never had any doubt of player location as he traveled outside streets for some time only to find so much unused content just lying around, probably never to be used again.

Though Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) never really got to explroe Silent Hills properly, Konami is reportedly interested in hiring Kojima for a new project that may even bring del Toro on board as well.

P.T. Camera Hack Reveals Player Character to Be Norman Reedus

A recent camera hack for P.T., Silent Hills "Playable Teaser" shows Norman Reedus to be the guy you play as.

In an attempt to reinvent popular survival horror series Silent Hill, developer/publisher Konami had game director Hideo Kojima to work on a demo titled P.T. for a now cancelled Silent Hills project that was launched on PlayStation Network in 2014.

Despite it being scrapped, people seem to be making new discoveries within "Playable Teaser" every now and then. A recent camera hack reveals player character to be actor Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) all along.

Video game hacker Lance McDonald has unearthed many other secrets in P.T. earlier using camera trickery. Reedus appearing as in-game character shouldn't be a surprise for those who originally completed the demo though.

After completing all cryptic puzzles of P.T., a trailer reveals that Norman will be starring as lead character for a new Silent Hills game but there was never any real confirmation on if he was the unknown protagonist as well, until now.

McDonald posted a short clip of his findings on Twitter to reveal who the player character really looked like.

Aside from showing Reedus at the end, there was always room for guessing about whom we are playing as since its narrative is shown in first-person perspective and the character's visage was obscured on purpose whenever he looked into a mirror.

Konami pulled out the P.T. demo from PlayStation Network a year later upon confirming cancellation of Silent Hills, which was meant to be a psychological horror game from Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions that never happened.

Kojima eventually started working on his own project Death Stranding after leaving Konami with film director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) and Norman Reedus that became a massive critical-hit on launch lately.

It appears from is most recent Tweets that Kojima is hinting at making a horror game up next and he would very much likely to bring back Del Toro and Reedus once again, following immense success of their last collaboration.

Protagonist Sam Porter Bridges is accompanied into White House Oval Office by Bridges affiliate, Die-Hardman. He shows Amelie to him as a new leader for United Cities of America in their first step to rebuild the entire nation.

She is the daughter of previous President Bridget and planned on connecting all remaining cities under Chiral Network. Sam however is not too pleased to see them or want to work for them, probably because of some bitter experience from past.

She arranged a mission to look for survivors with best of Bridges 1 and successfully lead them all avoiding BTs (Beached Thing). In three years, they convinced many communities to join UCA but things went south when they came to Edge Knot City.

They came across a militant separatist group called "Homo Demons", who took out their team and held her hostage to protect their liberty. In actual, they are terrorists who kill people and don't shy away from engineering "Voidout".

Sam is called in here to go for a rescue mission on Edge Knot City to bring Amelie back home from their grasp but he cynically declines to work for them ever again, saying they also are a cult like those Demons and he is not a part of them anymore.

Then a 49-minute long gameplay video presented by Kojima himself at Tokyo Game Show 2019 was unveiled to fans. To avoid any major spoilers he edited out a few things but rest is just a deep-dive into playing aspects of Death Stranding.

Before heading onto any expedition, Sam has to prepare himself with cargo loadout and balance his tools. Every attachment carries weight on him which can impact his movement and his stamina bar may run out pretty fast.

Take a good look at the map to see what sort of terrain you are going to explore, if they have hills to climb or if there is water to pass by. Then plan out your course for journey and pack necessary tools like anchors or ladders.

Making rounds through a fractured world Sam will not come across other players but may find something useful that someone else have left behind. Often times, these items will greatly aid you and so, don't forget to leave a like for them.

In between carrying out those packages take a moment of rest by sitting on grass and maybe take a nap as well. To put some pressure off, Sam can lighten his load by placing his cargo on a Floating Carrier that will follow him along.

At one point, he uses it like a skateboard for climbing down from an extremely rocky area to sneak on MULE enemy camp. There he appeared to have stolen one of their trucks for transport and can ride a motorcycle if he wishes to.

Light travel lets you move at a faster pace and he may have trouble balancing himself if there is too much load over his shoulder. Aside from taking care of himself in Recharging Spring, Sam can try to cheer up his Bridge Baby sometime.

In a boss battle against a beastly BT creature, Sam repeatedly used a weapon called EX Grenade to defeat it. If you manage to spot one of them from far and undetected, then using Anti-BT Handgun on them will be a good idea.

During struggle of your journey, you may often lose a cargo on your way but be sure to get that back when you can. Upon completing deliveries to communities, they will thank him and are most likely to connect with Chiral Network.

Death Stranding Will Have Very Easy Mode

Hideo Kojima reveals to have added a "Very Easy Mode" in Death Stranding for movie fans to enjoy without too much challenge.

Only months to go before upcoming action game Death Stranding from developer Kojima Productions and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment is released for PlayStation 4 but fans are still excited to find out new things about it.

Recently, game director Hideo Kojima revealed on social media that his game will feature a "Very Easy Mode" that is only for "movie fans", who don't really play games in general but will be able to get in and eventually finish it entirely.

Since they have added real-life renowned actors like Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead), it may drive interest of movie fans to this game.

So, Kojima wanted to add a Very Easy Mode especially for that specific audience group so that they can complete the game. To start, he let his personal assistant Ayako Terashima to complete it as a test, who is not much into video games.

Kojima retweeted her status after she has taken Twitter to express her experience and went for more details.

He explained his reasons for adding a Very Easy Mode for Death Stranding by pointing out that Terashima has never even completed the first level of Pac-Man, just like many casual players who tries out some games every now and then.

Being an avid fan of movies, he realized that people may want to delve deep inside the mysterious world of this game even though they are not very familiar with gameplay or concepts and just wanted to make appeal to them.

Earlier this year, many casual gamers and so-called critics were desperately crying for an Easy Mode for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice by developer From Software, debating about accessibility in video games through extreme difficulty levels.

Although that very point was debunked by a quadriplegic player showed how there is no need for difficulty settings. Though it took some efforts on his part but he eventually managed to defeat notorious boss Corrupted Monk like a true champ.

Kojima himself was opposed to that idea of difficulty levels as well and even let players become undetectable to enemies in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for wearing a silly chicken hat, which would let them play on easier settings.

He probably had a change of heart for adding a Very Easy Mode and movie-goer people who would be able to immerse into Death Stranding experience just because of that will surely appreciate him considering an easier difficulty.

Death Stranding Introduces Deadman and Mama

Celebrated game director Hideo Kojima showed up at Gamescom 2019 to show off more footage of upcoming Death Stranding.

On opening night live of Gamescom 2019, many big-name announcements were made but part of what made it extra special was video game icon Hideo Kojima showed up with some new video for upcoming action game Death Stranding.

Though his original plan was to show some clips on Tokyo Game Show later this year but when his very good friend and host of the event, Geoff Keighley requested him for a brief showcase, Kojima felt generous enough to give us a few.

Our first takeaway from Gamescom event is a character spotlight for Mama, revealing her part in Bridges.

RELATED: Death Stranding 'Bridges' Poster Tease

Lead character Sam Bridges comes to some sort of a secret facility of Bridges and he notices small BT (Beached Thing) like footsteps. He attempts to hold his breath but then a woman comes forward telling him not to worry about it.

They hear a baby cry and she then carry the barely visible child into her arms out of void, which makes him go whoa! Mama proceeds to explain that it was actually her daughter who is connected to her by an umbilical cord.

Since this child was born on the other side (presumably Hades) and not with her on material world, she really cannot leave this place and so, she made a base around her because unlike other BTs, this baby is only connected with Mama.

This is likely to be a first encounter between Mama and Sam, who has come to meet her for something, which may not be a delivery. His reason to come here might be similar to why he gave Heartman a visit in an early trailer.

Then here is an introduction of Bridge Baby that is described to Sam by another Bridges affiliate, Deadman.

RELATED: Death Stranding E3 Gameplay Revealed

Sam enters a room inside one of facility Bridges looking for Deadman with his Bridge Baby pod was showing "Crucial" alert and he instructs to remove it to connect it to a nearby incubator before eventually revealing himself on screen.

He explains how they can return the BB to its mother's womb to relieve the baby from stress and it sounds like he only sees them as instruments. They are connecting it to a brain-dead still mother located in ICU of capital North City.

RELATED: Death Stranding Introduces Troy Baker's Character

To establish a connection between the world of the dead and BB, a still mother's womb is required, therefore linking to this baby gives people an ability to sense presence of BTs that are close by, an essential part of survival of course.

As he explains further about how these incubators work to simulate a stress-free environment for Bridge Baby, he goes behind it and it seems like Deadman is a mere projection of some sort, therefore bearing such odd moniker.

Finally, there is a short gameplay video showing Sam is on a mission doing delivery and meeting a special character.

RELATED: Death Stranding May Come to PC

Titled "Ludens Fan", the trailer starts off with protagonist Sam Bridges taking a nap and woke up to urinate before heading to work. He takes a leak moving left and right but no matter where the camera is moved, his penis will not be shown.

When he is done managing his pee and completely empty for good, a big mushroom grows on that place and more people peeing on the same spot will trigger something good apparently but nothing on that is either hinted or shown.

Then some actual gameplay ensues with Sam scanning his surroundings before going ahead before using a ladder for traversal. He reaches to a post-apocalyptic bunker on top of a hillside and activates a delivery terminal to hand over cargo.

Then the titular "Ludens Fan" character shows up in hologram, which turns out to be a special guest appearance by Geoff Keighley himself. Sam would come across more people like him who lives isolation and is known as "preppers".

RELATED: Keanu Reeves Almost Starred in Death Stranding

Bidding him farewell, Sam proceeds to return only to fall of a small cliff when he was not looking and this made the baby start crying. He quickly gets back to his feet and started to calm it down before it gets too stressed.

Compared to what we saw on earlier clips where Sam is either getting viciously swarmed by group of BT entities or crossing paths with terrorist Higgs who would send his monstrous pet after him, this video is pretty light hearted.

Kojima has showed up at Gamescom event after five years and for that very reason, he flew to Germany to get on stage and interact with fans even though his upcoming anticipated title is currently in a crucial point of development phase.

Death Stranding is scheduled to arrive on November 8, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and is available for pre-order. Although it was initially marketed as a PS4-exclusive title, several recent indications suggest it may even see a PC release at one point.
