Death Stranding No Longer Listed PS4-Exclusive

Upcoming highly-anticipated social strand game Death Stranding by Hideo Kojima is no longer a PS4-exclusive title.

When video game director Hideo Kojima revealed an official release date for his upcoming anticipated action game Death Stranding back in May 2019, a strong rumor of a PC version release started emerging on social media.

Italian journalist Antonio Fucito came up with some hints that the game may come to PC on a later date back then. Now, it is no longer included among PlayStation 4-exclusive list and even though not a 100% confirmation, this is a clear hint.

Fucito originally spoke on a Twitch stream about the game being a timed exclusive on PS4 consoles for six months or so and his takeaway was Death Stranding official box art is missing "Only on PlayStation" branding.

No assurance of this claim was confirmed so far from developer Kojima Productions and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment. However, Sony's official sites worldwide removing it from their exclusives lists tell a lot already.

Throughout its entire history of existence, Sony has marketed the game as a PS4-exclusive and since they are not labeling it as one, rumors of the game heading over to PC platform after six months or a year seems more like a possibility.

Sony let Kojima use their in-house property, Decima Engine for his project that was used to develop PS4-exclusive game Horizon Zero Dawn and they have consistently promoted the game to build enough hype among fans.

Earlier, Hideo Kojima announced to showcase an "exclusive new look" of Death Stranding on August 19, opening night of Gamescom 2019. Although many believe it to be a new trailer, it could end up being a PC version announcement.

While Kojima is more open about his game, Sony likes to keep things under wraps. That is exactly why just being delisted from their exclusive titles catalog after May 2019 doesn't confirm anything until they officially announce it.

Keanu Reeves Almost Starred in Death Stranding

Internet's boyfriend, Keanu Reeves could have starred in Death Stranding but Hideo Kojima wanted Mads Mikkelsen.

Whenever he is not busy killing mobsters for stealing his vintage car and killing his puppy as John Wick, actor Keanu Reeves (Constantine, The Matrix) shows up in E3 2019 event to promote upcoming role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077.

Recently, it was revealed during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 that Reeves was so close to make an appearance in upcoming anticipated PlayStation 4-exclusive action game Death Stranding by Hideo Kojima but got replaced instead.

Kojima shared a panel at SDCC 2019 with his friend and film director Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson, Valhalla Rising) and shared new bits of information regarding his most-ambitious work yet along with a few other details.

He started independently working on his new project that Kojima Productions will develop right after his controversial departure from Konami. Then Sony Interactive Entertainment came forward showing interest to be its publisher.

RELATED: Death Stranding May Come to PC

In early phase of development, he was originally recommended that Keanu Reeves be cast in a pivotal role but he insisted on taking actor Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) on that role and Keanu was replaced.

Alongside Mads, Kojima enlisted celebrities like Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water), Léa Seydoux (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Spectre) and Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) in his game.

Reeves is already doing pretty good with his smash-hit success of John Wick franchise that has a fourth movie incoming next year and filming Bill & Ted Face the Music aside from his role of Johnny Silverhand in upcoming CD Projekt Red game.

He is on top of his game once again and fans find him breathtaking, so much so that he might even get featured in a future project by Marvel Cinematic Universe, because Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige very much wants him to.

Given his current height of success, many fans may think that Kojima made a mistake by ignoring him but people who are familiar with Mikkelsen's work surely knows the man is more than capable to deliver a standout performance.

Besides, Mikkelsen was always a better choice for what Kojima wanted to make as Death Stranding is a game shrouded in mystery and adopts an ominous tone, which is very much reflects on in-game character Cliff that Mads is playing and it looks fantastic.

Death Stranding Cover Art Revealed

Hideo Kojima reveals official cover art for Death Stranding featuring Sam Bridges at San Diego Comic-Con 2019.

After being officially announced at E3 2016, upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive action game Death Stranding by developer Kojima Productions and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment now has a release date, which is set for November 8, 2019.

By now, we have many teases and a couple of gameplay videos revealed by game creator/director Hideo Kojima, who recently showed up at a panel of San Diego Comic-Con 2019 to show off his final cover art for the anticipating game.

Official box art for both Standard Edition and a slick Steelbook case from Special Edition of the game features lead protagonist Sam Bridges, played by actor Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) at its center.

We already saw different version of this look of Sam in previous promotional material and trailers but the second image is definitely grittier, probably implying him going through some rough stuff in his quest to reconnect society.

Death Stranding May Come to PC

After a timed exclusive period on PlayStation 4, Hideo Kojima's upcoming masterpiece Death Stranding may come to PC.

After action focused PlayStation 4 game Death Stranding has revealed its upcoming release date lately, a new rumor starting spreading around that it may also be coming to PC and that is something people are wondering for a while.

Italian journalist Antonio Fucito recently hints on a Twitch stream that the game is speculated to have a timed PS4 exclusivity period of around six months or so and then a PC version is very much possible to happen if not 100% confirmed.

He already established his credentials with sources earlier when he posted the game's release date 24 hours ahead of reveal on Twitter.

Fucito also reflected on its box art not featuring "Only on PlayStation" branding because DS will probably arrive on PC on a later date but there won't be an Xbox One version. He is not sure if it will remain exclusive for six month or a whole year though.

We have yet to have a confirmation from developer Kojima Productions and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment if any of his claims are true but he never has claimed once that any of this information he shared is concrete.

Even before Kojima Productions and Sony came up with a definitive title for their team-up effort, there was mention of a PC release in a now-deleted Medium Q&A post by EU community manager of PlayStation back in 2015.

That being said, Sony has never marketed Death Stranding as a PS4-exclusive, even in promo arts. Considering how Quantic Dream studio has brought their PlayStation games to PC most recently, there surely is some loophole in exclusivity term.

RELATED: Death Stranding Introduces Troy Baker's Character

Besides, game director Hideo Kojima and his studio are using Decima Engine from Guerrilla Games, which is owned by Sony and Kojima wouldn't be able to resist much if they decide to release the game on PC at a later date.

Antonio Fucito clarified that Death Stranding coming to PC is not 100% confirmed as its release date, which he knew in advance. His speculated solely based on lack of an exclusivity logo on box and initial announcement of 2015 but he is still pretty sure about his claim.

An almost nine minute-long trailer opens up with protagonist Sam Porter Bridges wandering around in a post-apocalyptic world that has been ravaged by mysterious entities only referred to as BTs and society has been collapsed long ago.

We see brief glimpse of gameplay here and there that showcases Sam engaging with enemies in hand-to-hand combat and even using stuffs at his disposal. Mechanics that are solely focused on helping him on exploration are also shed lights onto.

French actress Léa Seydoux (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Spectre) is playing a character named Fragile who is confronted by Higgs, played by Troy Baker (Mortal Kombat X, Resident Evil 6), who is leader of a separatist group called "Homo Demons".

First look at actor Tommie Earl Jenkins (Patriot Games, The Bourne Identity) playing a mysterious character named Die-Hardman is revealed and Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) appears as Deadman.

New character Mama and Heartman are being played by actress Margaret Qualley (Death Note, The Leftovers) and Danish film director Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson, Valhalla Rising) respectively in their yet to be specified important roles.

Amelie was probably someone who was trying to find "Strand" or connection before Sam and is played by Lindsay Wagner (Bionic Woman, Six Million Dollar Man) while Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) portrays Cliff.

Sam is obviously portrayed by actor Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead), who is working in teams with Die-Hardman and Deadman. He uses a Bridge Baby to perhaps maintain link between past and present just in case.

Cliff is first shown to have been talking to one of the Bridge Babies before becoming a black-goo soaked revenant-like entity with a connection to something greater than himself but apparently, Higgs too can access the same link.

Death Stranding Confirmed for 2019 by Best Buy?

According to listing of the game on Best Buy, Hideo Kojima's long-awaited title Death Stranding maybe releasing in 2019.

During mid-November 2018, a Brazilian website suggested citing an anonymous source that we are about to get an official release date for upcoming action game Death Stranding by video game legend Hideo Kojima at The Game Awards 2018 event.

Unfortunately, that never happened as the man himself announced on Twitter that he couldn't make it this time. However, social media was curious for any clues regarding the release date and according to Best Buy, the game is coming in 2019.

Even if the listing is to be taken seriously, we are still in the dark about exactly when it is going to drop because aside from a release year of 2019, it has nothing else. The only reason we take this leak seriously because of Kojima also teasing of launching it this year.

In an interview with video game magazine Famitsu back in December 2018, he asked whether 2019 is the year of the Whale, even though it actually is the year of the pig. Since people saw whales in the promotion of his game, they have reason to believe this to be a tease for a launch date.

What we are estimating right now is that we may get another look at it at E3 2019 with more footage and then finally releasing the game within the next few months after that, most possibly somewhere around October. Nothing is set in stone though.

Action oriented Death Stranding is an upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive title from Kojima Productions and Sony Entertainment that was revealed back in 2016 and is considered as one of the most-anticipated video game titles ever.

Death Stranding Rumored to Announce Release Date?

Rumor has it that Sony will announce a release date for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding at The Game Awards 2018.

It all begin at the E3 2016, when former Digital Entertainment president of Konami, Hideo Kojima took the stage to reveal his upcoming action game project Death Stranding from his studio Kojima Productions and people who know of his work lost their minds.

He also revealed that the game is going to be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and will be a PlayStation 4-exclusive. No official release date has been given so far for the game but rumors are suggesting an announcement on that with new footage is on the way.

After shooting down the possibility of attending E3 2019, Sony opted out from this year's PlayStation Experience claiming they don't have enough to show off even though they have both Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima in development.

According to Brazilian website Combo Infinito, they have learned from someone close to Sony Brazil that Sony may showcase trailers for the above-mentioned titles at The Game Awards 2018 and reveal release dates for the games.

RELATED: Death Stranding E3 Gameplay Revealed

None of these buzz brings any absolute evidence to the table but it's not like Sony ever made such big announcements during a show like this and given the relationship Geoff Keighley of The Game Awards has with Kojima, it wouldn't be shocking if Sony does so.

From the very moment of revealing back in 2016, Hideo Kojima has kept the story of Death Stranding as a mystery to everyone. However, that never stopped people from theorizing about it. Do you really think that Sony would announce the game's official release date at The Game Awards 2018?

Death Stranding Introduces Troy Baker's Character

A brand-new video from Death Stranding shown at Tokyo Game Show 2018 presentation reveals Troy Baker's character in the game.

The last time we had a peak at the upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive action game Death Stranding was at E3 2018 press conference, where we saw an ever expanding cast with some more details on the main character.

For long, there was no more update regarding development progress of the game and developer Kojima Productions has been working with their heads down until they got us something spectacular to show at the recent stage of Tokyo Game Show 2018.

Opening of the video shows Sam Porter Bridges headed for another of his deliveries with a human female on his back and we get our first-look at the character Troy Baker (Mortal Kombat X, Resident Evil 6) is playing who comes out of nowhere greeting the protagonist.

He wears a golden skull-mask and sports a look similar to Psycho Mantis-esque figure we saw in the teaser trailer. Their conversation suggests that these two have crossed paths before in the game and that definitely wasn't pleasant for the protagonist.

The mysterious antagonist then takes off his mask and hit the ground with it for some deathly spirits to appear around within a swirl of black goo at his feet and then hold the mask in the air above to conjure up a giant Hellhound-like beast wearing a golden mask.

While laughing, he warns that the beast looks hungry and the only way to make it out alive is to not getting eaten by it. Leaving Sam Porter to deal with it, he then disappears putting his mask back on, leaving the fate of this confrontation unknown.

Aside from already having a superstar cast on board, game director Hideo Kojima recruited Emily O'Brien (Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, League of Legends) and Troy Baker back in February for his most anticipating upcoming release.

Also, voice actor Tommie Earl Jenkins (Patriot Games, The Bourne Identity) have confirmed his involvement in the game and revealed the news seven months after being cast via a recent Tweet which includes an artwork of his character.

French actress Léa Seydoux (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Spectre) and Lindsay Wagner (Bionic Woman, Six Million Dollar Man) also made short appearance in the E3 2018 gameplay trailer in their unspecified roles.

The first teaser that came in 2016 and we got to know that actor Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) is going to be playing the role of protagonist in it.

Then at TGA 2016, another footage released where we saw film director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) and actor Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) both playing important roles to the story. A few months earlier, Emily O'Brien and Troy Baker has also joined the cast.

Apparently "Porter" and "Bridges" words from previously released clips and poster doesn't indicate to any organization but they in fact belong to the character Reedus is playing, who goes by the name Sam Porter Bridges.

This trailer has started with a cinematic opening, then we see a bit of gameplay with different camera angles and then it cuts back to story before switching back to actual playing sequence again. The blend between these moments is naturally meshed to perfection.

The gameplay moments suggests it involves a lot of climbing and scaling to canyons, jungles, mountains and rivers as the story progresses. Sam travels these unfriendly regions to make deliveries of boxes in backpacks, tight-wrapped dead bodies and what not.

While carrying a baby in a pod, he goes from one place to another because he can sense those mysterious shadow entities approaching that has taken over the world and can come back if they happen to eat him alive.

It appears that he can sense those creatures, whereas she is able to even see them. She offers him to work for her which he gently declines and then called him by his name before departing to his ultimate surprise.

The importance of silence in their presence is brought up by the new female lead once again and we think it hints us that stealth will be a very important aspect of the game. They often ignore sounds but do react to breathing for some unknown reason.

Also, whenever one of those beings touches someone or eats them, they die but some people have the ability to come back. So does Sam but when he does, it causes a massive nuclear-like explosion that leaves a massive crater.

Kojima Teasing Another Death Stranding Trailer?

Ahead of E3 2018 conference, Hideo Kojima maybe teasing to drop another trailer for his upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive Death Stranding.

Twitter is a great source of news these days and who better knows this than fans of video games and movies? Whether it's about an announcement of an upcoming project or some leak reveal, you will always find it there.

Major developers and publishers also like to tease the fans on this platform too. Video game legend Hideo Kojima is no different as well and looks like he is hinting at another massive reveal for his PlayStation 4-exclusive action game Death Stranding.

Since E3 is near, we can take his hints seriously this time because the founder of independent game developing studio Kojima Productions has been teasing his fans on Twitter with a series of photos showing how he is busy with editing some game footage.

Kojima is mostly known to many as the creator of Metal Gear Solid, which he created during his time in Konami. Then at Sony's E3 2016 conference, he announced Death Stranding which has no official release date set yet.

Many have speculated that Death Stranding would be one of Kojima's best works ever because he is now free from any corporate restrains and a self-governing entity. What we saw up to this point from mysterious black ooze, babies inside human throat and a cryptic version of Psycho Mantis.

Then there are giant floating creatures only to tell us that we haven't seen them all. It is best to assume that Kojima san has still a lot of strange imagery under his sleeve to catch us off-guard and throw us off-balance.

Sony has announced lately that they will be focusing on their upcoming video game titles at E3 2018 and being one of the most anticipated upcoming titles, Death Stranding would surely be there.

So, whatever we saw Kojima is doing wearing that Planet of the Apes t-shirt while sitting beside a Godzilla statue in his Twitter photos, we probably won't be disappointed. Even the baby from the game we saw earlier is showing thumbs up to anyone who's watching, although nothing else is shown.

We are also riddled with the question that if we are going to see some more celebrity appearances in the next event for the game. Hopefully, E3 2018 will introduce another renowned celeb linked with to increase the hype. It could be Emily O'Brien and Troy Baker, who recently joined the game's ever-growing cast.

Up until now, we know that film director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water), actors Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) are already tied with this project, which made everyone curious.

Death Stranding Key Poster Released

If you people are well aware of who Hideo Kojima is, then you must also know that this fellow is a master of developing mind-bending video games that creates all sorts of buzzes and makes history. He's intending to do that once more with his forthcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive release Death Stranding from his very own Kojima Productions. He started messing with our minds from back in 2016 and now he has taken a step further by releasing a wickedly bizarre trailer.

RELATED: Death Stranding Teaser Trailer

Well, just as soon as the trailer dropped and everyone was just recovering from having their mind-blown by the pure chaotic wickedness, Hideo Kojima took his personal Twitter account to reveal the new key visual art for the game.

Playing the role of the protagonist of Death Stranding called Sam, actor Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) is on the primary focal point of the two posters. Both of these posters are designed in a movie-like fashion and while there are similarities in them, they are still apart. Like the first one have a close focus on Sam and the baby but the second one, despite picking the same frame has set in slight distance.

Reedus’ character is looking at the distance and probably observing the gigantic alien creatures that have taken two of his team-mates moments ago and he is holding a pod which one of his fallen colleagues dropped moments before he was taken. While the antenna-like flashlight gear attached to his back is fixed onto something, the baby he is holding inside the pod is looking straightly at the viewers.

I say, since maestro Kojima has introduced breaking of the fourth wall in video games, the baby looking straight to the viewer may be a nod to that. I mean, at this point every other eager fan is trying to piece out the clues to make some sort of sense out for this game as Hideo Kojima is playfully dropping them so often these days, anything could just mean everything!

Of course, everyone was happy that they are getting something new from Death Stranding after a long time but people were less happy after witnessing the 8-minutes of wickedness with everything that is involved to the world Kojima is creating. All we can say is that, something fascinating is coming our way and we don't even have a release date but the upcoming PlayStation Experience event may change that.

Death Stranding Teaser Trailer

Video game mastermind Hideo Kojima is mostly known as the creator of Metal Gear Solid, which he created during his time in Konami. Following his departure from the company, his fans were worried for sometime thinking if the maestro will ever return into the biz. He did with his very own Kojima Productions and announced of releasing a PlayStation 4 exclusive action video game titled Death Stranding last year.

From the very moment players have known about the existence of Death Stranding, everyone was excited as hell as Kojima himself was involved in the project. Next, when the news of the involvement of Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water), Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) to the game came out, people simply started losing their minds.

To throw the Kojima fan-base off their seats, Kojima Productions have dropped the new teaser trailer for Death Stranding. We would like to warn you in advance that the following footage is disturbing and can be extremely messy for your psyche (I already lost mine a little). So, viewers beware.

The clip starts with showing Norman Reedus’ character Sam stranded on a barren place where he wakes up with two other crews in a secret operation that clearly has gone wrong and one of them is half-stuck under a vehicle. Suddenly the gear on the shoulder of one of his fellow team members starts signaling like crazy for something on their way and as the crew panics, Sam suggests that they don't even breathe. Then we see an invisible creature approaching towards a body-bag near Sam while leaving lizard-like foot mark behind.

The body-bag seemingly melts into some black goo and the creature move towards Sam as he is bleeding. Then as his wounded teammate makes a noise, it quickly gets him and the other crew shot him to spare him a horrific fate. He throws a pod containing a baby to Sam before trying to shoot him but failed and then tried to stab himself to death. Left behind as the only witness of this carnage, Sam sees some extra terrestrial life-forms floating around him and all he sees is extinction all around.

This is so far we know about Death Stranding for now and there is no apparent release date announced yet. Even though people are familiar with the fact that master Kojima likes to play with our head every once in a while, the Death Stranding clip may have done that a little too much considering this is just a teaser trailer. So, God knows what else is up ahead!

Death Stranding 'Bridges' Poster Tease

After leaving Konami, modern master of game making, Hideo Kojima founded his very own Kojima Productions. He announced a new game from his own production house titled Death Stranding on June, 2016. What we know up until this point is that the game will feature the appearance of director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water), actor Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead).

Cryptic “Bridges” Poster

Everyone eagerly waiting to hear anything from him thought that the game will be previewed this year on Electronic Entertainment Expo but unfortunately, that's not happening anytime soon. However Kojima Productions apologized to the fans with a cryptic poster, which Hideo Kojima himself also posted saying he cannot give up any more info than this.

Now, as soon as he revealed the poster to tease the fans, many got busy to theorize the image and its cryptic nature. The poster contains in bold letters, the word "BRIDGES" under a spider-web appears on a black background. As Kojima apparently isn't willing to unveil anything more and fans have a quite long time up ahead to wait for the game, they become overzealous and came up with the idea that it means actor Jeff Bridges (Arachnophobia, R.I.P.D.) will be in Death Stranding.

REVEALED: Death Stranding Revealed

While this theory cannot be brushed-off just yet, some theorists on Reddit pointed out that there is a "BRIDGES" connection that can be found in the Death Stranding teaser trailer released at The Game Awards 2016. Del Toro's badge on the lapel reads "BRIDGES - United Cities of America". Also note that the dot of the badge is on New York City, which could also mean that the crisis hit at NYC first or it is one of the last remaining cities unaffected by the catastrophe.

Now, "BRIDGES" might be an organization that Guillermo del Toro's character works for and they are working on some sort of metaphorical bridges perhaps. Also, it could be a division created by United Cities of America to establish some kind of connection. The "BRIDGES" could be between time and space or even consciousness. There is also a possibility of them being the one responsible for creating the Homo Ludens’ spacesuit.

REVEALED: Death Stranding Teaser

Most probably none of these theories means nothing that Hideo Kojima hinted at or have nothing to do with Death Stranding at all. All we can do is for him to drop some more tease so that someone could possibly figure something out of it as we are pretty damn sure that maestro himself is gonna keep his lips sealed on it and let everyone argue all they want. These days, Kojima Productions is awfully busy with the development of the game while collaborating with the likes of Del Toro, Mikkelsen and Reedus.
